2 months out of Warranty
I've had no problems with the water heater in my own apartment, apart from being extremely hot and sometimes hard to get the hot to work (which is probably to do with my mixer tap), however the rental I have literally exploded 2 months out of warranty. Wilson replaced the unit but i was charged the installation fee. I paid this then emailed Wilson that I felt this should have been included. I was expecting a fight however they responded immediately and have covered the labour too. Thank you, good customer service, hope this one last longer.

Rip off prices have bought 6 units
Have had 6units in 18years,the best of them lasted only 6 years, the worst one lasted less than 2weeks!! I have just replaced another one which has lasted 4years! Noticed the price has increased by $102 since I purchased the last one in 2014! Quality control, forget it! 5years warranty that's a joke, you get 2years on a fully installed replacement unit, paying nearly a $1000.Do yourself a favour, don't buy this crap!!

Absolute crap!! You must be out of business
Shameful business.. Should close down. Only comes with 2 years warranty.. Goes Capt right after. You can't change the damn element but have to buy the new tank which is the whole unit.. Rip off absolutely.. Such expensive device must be sold with minimum 5 years warranty.. That means you will be out of business.. I hope

Either freezing or scolding hot
Absolute rubbish, two plumbers have told me to get rid of it and get a different one. Known problem. Water comes out either scolding or freezing and no where in between. Only way to have a decent shower is to have a tap in the basin running hot at the same freaking time!!! Washing machine will only run hot water even on a cold setting. Clothes come out scolding hot??? Even after adjusting the valve on the water system.

Scolding or freezing
Has a hot water low flow rate shut off. There is no thermostat to adjust hot temp which would solve this problem. Such a frustrating unit! Would not recommend.
Our options are now to try a increase the bore size pipe to the boiler to try and get more water pressure. Or solder in some rheostat thermostat control. Most likely I will just bin it and get a real boiler !!

Seems like it won't last like my old one
My old Wilson Super X stopped working today after running for 18 years. Plumbers were shock that it ran for so long. It was installed outside.
Had it replaced with another and I guess I won't be so lucky

Avoid at all costs!
Went through 2 units in 2.5 yrs due to bad manufacturing, they are ugly and look prehistoric. Service people are no help at all. I am now the proud owner of a Stiebel and will never go back. I highly recommend the Stiebel. Easy to install, cheaper to buy and it looks very neat on the wall. The SimpleX is designed to replace a Wilson unit and all plumbing lines up too. A much better choice all round!

Junk with a clunk
Unfortunately my Wison SuperX has decided to give a loud clunk/bang every time you engage the hot water. Contacted the Installer and Wilson head office to be told that the noise is perfectly normal. Asked the Wilson rep if Bosch would have the audacity to release a product to market which was so noisy to operate.......no answer. Wondering if this product and the Db noise level it outputs would be prohibitive in apartments. In conclusion do not buy this product if an annoying noisy operation is problematical.

Works for about 2 years
I moved to a unit that had has this hot water system installed 10 years ago in that time I have installed 5 of these systems. They always just stop switching when the water flows. The one I am using now is only working infrequently. I have called them a few times to try and get parts or ask questions and found them to have very little knowledge of their product.

Briliant after sales service 12 out of 10 .This mob care about their products
I bought a new super x about two years and a month ago . It was built 2 years and 3 months ago . It started running luke warm instead of hot a few days ago so I E mailed Super x grizzling that my unit had died 1 month after warranty expired and NO WORRIES they copped it . It was a genuine fault ( a rare one) and they sent a bloke round to fix on site . I was ready to remove it and send it at my expense bla bla bla but this mob really looked after me, I support WILSON big time . They care about their products and stand by them . Nowdays its uncommon . Buy Wilson Super X with CONFIDENCE . Paul ODWYER Renovation Contractor,

New models aren't as good as old ones
Yes I had my old one replaced 6 months ago and hate the big clunking noise. I called the service guy out to look at it and he said the noise is normal. Now it is not working. No hot water and no clunking noise. I will ring them in the morning. Not impressed with them at all.

Works but is very noisy .
Had the Wilson Super X installed last week and was very surprised to hear the load clunk every time it turned off or on . The 25year old electra that it replaced made no such sound . The plumber that installed it said it didn't sound right to him so we rang the Wilson service department . Wilson sent a technician out the next day who was on time and very courteous but let us know that the sound was perfectly normal . As he was local there was no charge either which was a nice surprise .
The unit is advertised as having "quiet operation " . I'm...Read more

But are they serviceable and how long will they last
In 2011 I had an old Wilson hws replaced with a wilson also because the space where it goes is tight and accommodating any other brand would have meant lots of time spent re-arranging the fittings by plumber; cost: $1170. The old unit lasted around 5-6 years and now this one, just 4 years+ later and it is not heating water anymore. Plumber says servicing would be expensive, better to just replace with new one, cost: $1500+ !!!
Now I don't know about you, but I would expect my hws to last for a minimum of 10 years, though considering the high...Read more

Questions & Answers
Ian Penroseasked
I purchased a rental unit in June 2022. It has a Wilson Model WISX 6 installed. Last week my tenant reported there was suddenly no hot water. I investigated by checking fuses and removing the system cover. I discovered the Red reset button and reset the unit. It worked again. The tenant has been away for a few days over Xmas and returned to discover no hot water again. I asked her to check the fuses(actually circuit breakers in the meter box not fuse wire). They are ok. She is 70 and is not able to check the reset button. I live in Kelmscott and have not had a chance to check myself but I assume it has tripped again which indicates there is a fault.
The label says manufactured July 2017. But I have no idea when it was installed. I was given no paperwork regarding the installation. Can you please check if your authorised electrician did the installation and if it is still under warranty? The address is unit 6/70 Frederick St Shoalwater WA. Thanks

Update 31/12/19. Drove from Kelmscott to Shoalwater and reset the top red button again. Had hot water when I left. Found the actual Wilson website and sent them an email regarding the problem. I thought this was their website when I posted my question but now realise this is an independent review website.
Update 31/1/2020. A month later.
Wilson’s phoned me on the long weekend from my message on their website. Said he would check on warranty when the office opened next week. I was impressed at prompt reply.Their serviceman Glen came on the Tuesday which was the first work day after the NewYear holiday. Wilson’s supplied the $30 part free and I paid the call out fee of $154.00. I was happy with the prompt service. The hot water has been working perfectly for the last month so the problem is fixed.

I need to adjust the temperature as the hot water is just lukewarm. Your answer was :" The slower the flow of water the hotter it will be" then later you advised " the tap or valve that feeds cold water into it should be on full" which is the answer to adjust the temperature?

" the tap or valve that feeds cold water into it should be on full" I didn’t advise this. I said the slower the flow the hotter it will be. You could always contact Wilson direct.

An update on this Wilson hws. Due to location and existing plumbing I have had to dish out for a new one which was put in at the end of April 2015 and the cost was much less than the $1500-quote I ha... Read more
d gotten above: I sent the manufacturer an email and they gave me the number of their electrician/plumber who quoted $890 for a new unit which comes with a 2-year service and parts warranty. Unfortunately, the unit had a problem this month (Jan. 2016) where it stopped heating water. The installer was contacted and he came and serviced it gratis (unit is only 8 months old) saying that it was a flow adjustment problem. Must say I am a bit apprehensive about the future and how long this new unit is going to last.
