Hello Allan
Would like to know if the Ultimate 5 Stage AUS-9500 will become available anytime soon.
I am looking for a purifier for my wife who has Bronchiectasis and it does appear that the Winix Zero 4 Stage and the Zero+ Pro 5 Stage would probably be better?
Also, above was a special 'Boxing Day' offer with $50 Cashback E-Gift Card with every Air Purifier purchase & $100 on Multi-Buys, is this still available and for how long?

If you are near a main city (especially Brisbane) has your wofe done the Lung Rehab course? I completed it with several people with your wife's issue and ALL benefitted and the therapy is ongoing after the 8 week course. Speak with Royal Brisbane Women's Hospital Lung Rehab ask for Kermeen the Physiotherapist and person in charge - she could perhaps head your wife to somewhere close to you. But re the Winix - it ihas been a life saver for me especially in the fires. Look out on Gumtree I got all mine there as (unfortunately) people don't temd to buy these early. but they are worth their weight in gold for anyone with breathing issues.

However we have a large volume of shipments arriving over the next few weeks of both the Winix Zero models. The Zero and Zero+ Pro are proven air purifiers with the same high quality filters as the Winix Ultimate.
We currently are taking pre-orders for both Zero models which include the $50 cashback offer.

Does this unit have a carbon filter for smoke from bushfires

Dear Salman,
The quick run down is below and yes it does have a carbon filter and it can manage smoke to a very large degree the details follow, but I have been in the thick of Qld smoke and have severe lung issues and had no problems breathing with the filter. I also use
Innovair and it also has a carbon filter and is very high quality (but more expensive filters).

Hi Salman
Great answer by AFM
Just to add a couple of points.
The best carbon filter for this is 'Activated' carbon, which our models have. Its is much more absorbant for odours and importantly removes harmful chemical vapors.
And whilst the Winix Ultimate 5 Stage has been very popular, the later models such as the Winix Zero 4 Stage and the Winix Zero+ Pro, as mentioned by AFM have proven to be excellent for filtering out smoke.

Yes, it will remove cat dander or any other similar pet dander.
All our Winix air purifiers have a high quality 'hospital grade' HEPA filters.
It's these type of filters that are very effective at removing and trapping airborne allergens such as dander.

Allan B.Winix

Hi Nonie
All our Winix air purifiers are excellent at filtering out airborne mould spores (they cannot actually remove the mould itself).
The filter replacement cost is $140.00 including free delivery.
If you are operating your air purifier 24/7 you would replace these once a year if used in a typical home environment.
Hope this helps.

Worth noting the $140 incl del is right now as it is on special, the norm is $160 and delivery. Unfortunately they are not super helpful about when sales are on so if you are going to get one do it now. The link below is to the "Special Sale Price of $140.00 w/free delivery!"

Can't speak to the mould issue as I have not had a problem with mould, could be related to the fact it is a really good filter:)

I'm looking for a purifier that filters out smoke. The fires this year have been hard on the asthmatics in my house. The Winix website says it filters out smoke. But from what I've read smoke is in the .04 micron range and the Winix filter only filters down to .3 microns. Based upon that, it doesn't seem like it would be effective in filtering out smoke. Am I wrong?

I use 1/4 of my asthma medication since installing this in my bedroom and have lost my wheeze from taking deep breaths. We have had only small fires up here in FNQ so can't comment on that but it is super quick in scrubbing odours from the air which is also a big trigger for asthmatics...highly recommend this purifier

Winix
Allan B.Winix

Hi Marvin
Smoke can vary in size considerably.
Our Winix air purifiers HEPA filter is certified to filter 99.97% of particles down to 0.3 microns however that doesnt mean it cannot filter much smaller particles.
The Activated carbon filters is also very effective capturing unpleasant odours and harmful airborne chemicals.
Many of our customers have purchased our air purifiers for the exact same reason as yourself with great success.
If you would like any further information or advice please dont hesitate to call us on 1800 122100

Hi there, I’m looking to buy an air purifier for better air quality in general. Should I get the ultimate 5 or zero 5? Thanks

5 answers
AFM
AFM

Hi,
My understanding is that the zero can filter a larger area and has a specific pet filter (worthwhile if you like pets:). I had the opportunity to get the 5 stage second hand and it was half the normal price, had I only been able to buy at full price I would have bought the extra features of the zero. It depends on your budget, the size of the room it will be in and if you have pets. The filters aren't cheap either so don't forget that. I gather they last a while but I don't know how long from experience. I have a lot of dust and pet hair so it will be interesting. But it is definitely a great filter.

Sey
Sey

Thanks AFM for your contribution! I don’t have any pet - however, I looked it up on ausclimate website the ultimate 5 is on $699 at the moment with $50 cash back and bonus filter with value of $160, whereas an eBay deal with appliance online will get me a zero five for under $600. So I’m now weighing the options. Not sure which one. I have never used an air purifier before but want to give it a try as I am suffering from hay fever and my daughter is allergic to dust mite.

Winix
Allan B.Winix

Hi Sey
Great response from AFM
Either model would be ideal for hay fever and dust mites.
Generally, if you operate any one of our air purifiers continuously 24/7 you would need to replace the filters once a year. The only maintenance is to keep the pre-filter clean which is very easy to do.
Regardless of where you buy our products from we are always available to offer friendly expert advice on what model best suits your needs.

Hi Janet - Russell from Ausclimate here again. I previously mentioned some great points about the Winix Zero PLus 5-Stage air purifier - great for fury cats. This air purifier, with HEPA filter, Activated Carbon filter, as well as the very clever Pet Filter will definitely help with all those tiny particles that you see circulating around your tiny house, no doubt aided by your lovely 'rag doll' cat. Don't hesitiate to give us a call at Ausclimate. Most of the team regularly use this same air purifier, so I'm sure they will assist with any further questions you may have. Allan B.Winix

Hi Janet, Russell here from Ausclimate - I see you have 2 separate questions posted, so I'll answer each separately. Whenever I get questions about cats with long hair/fur, the first air purifier that comes to mind is the Winix Zero PLus 5-Stage air purifier. It has the certified HEPA filter (for all those airborne nasties such as pet dander, fur, saliva, etc), as well as the Activated Carbon (for smells and VOCs), but importantly it also has the Pet filter specifically designed to capture everything before it enters the other filters. A pack of 12 x disposable Pet filters comes with your machine, simply peel off the adhesive edging and place it in front of the pre-filter and replace each month or so. Don't forget the PlasmaWave, which gives you and your pets extra protection from VOCs, as well as various pet & human viruses. The remaining filters can be purchased around each 12+ months. I have 3 dusty pet cockatiels who live indoors so I am always looking for a good air purifier. I read from a research paper that "the harmful effects of ozone and possibility to re-inhale ionised contaminants can cause serious lung damage. At the present time, ionisers are not recommended for use in bird households. The current recommendation for bird
households is mechanical filtration. The best type of mechanical filtration is the use of a HEPA (High Efficiency Particulate Arrestance) filter." Is Winix an ioniser? Is Plasmawave safe to use around parrots? Thank you.

1 answer
Winix
Allan B.Winix

Hello Shu, Russell here. Thank you for your question. The Winix Ultimate AUS-9500 would be a great unit to clean the air in your home, partially caused by your lovely pet cockatiels. The Hepa filter will do well removing the airborne feathers, dust, dander and other allergens. The activated carbon filter is ideal for removing those unpleasant smels, as well as hzardopuir airborne VOCs. The Winix air purifiers are not ionisers. The Plasmawave feature is also important in your situation - safe to use around parrots. This Plasmawave technology creates negative & positive ions (no harmful ozone) that combine with water vapour to form hydroxyls that neutralise viruses, bacteria, odour causing compounds, chemical compounds & gases - leaving only fresh air. You might also consider the new Winix Zero Plus, which has an extra filter (referred to a pet Filter) that captures those larger particles, also prolonging the life of those other filters behind. I hope this information is helpful - cheers Russell 1800 122 100

Singhasked

I see from couple of the reviews Winix have stated that the product does not create any ozone. However, your Plasmawave technology generates positive and negative ions, and it's well known that positive ions are very hazardous to health. How safe is this product for a newborn or young baby who is still developing many functions of their body?

1 answer
Winix
Allan B.Winix

Hi Singh
The air purifier's PlasmaWave technology does not produce harmful ozone - independent tests confirm the ozone produced is an almost undetectable 3 ppb (parts per billion), which is substantially lower than the allowable level of 50ppb set by the USA’s FDA.
The PlasmaWave is very effective and of course very safe to use however if you prefer you can turn the PlasmaWave function off.
The video link below is an overview of our Winix air purifiers which also talks about the PlasmaWave technology so this may be of interest to you as well.

Also, all our Winix models have hospital grade HEPA filters which is what's required to effectively remove allergens such as dust and pet dander.

Our Winix air purifier are very effective at filtering and removing airborne allergens.
If it's an airborne allergen/contaminant that if causing your breathing difficulties then yes, there's a very good chance it may help.
We have had some very positive feedback in the past from others who have used our air purifiers who also suffer from lung diseases.

I recently bought the AUS-9500 & love it, but I have noticed that after running it during the night I wake up feeling very groggy. It's strange because I seem to sleep better (don't wake up so much during the night), but I don't feel rested. I run the air purifier for about an hour on turbo before bed, then change it to sleep mode. Has anyone else experienced this?

1 answer
Dave
Dave

We dont tend to run it at night Leanne so cant comment, although it should only improve air quality and not affect O2 or anything else that would leave one feeling groggy (like from red-eye flights, where the cabin can have reduced/ recycled O2 and higher CO2 levels).

Our regime is turbo in the morning for an hour or 3 on timer then if bedroom left open, just on auto for day and turn off at night. It all depends how much air space you have as to duration of operation and there are guides in the product specs. I understand auto will only run at low capacity unless someone walks past or the wind from an open window activates it from odours/ air pollutants.
