Burnt lawn and turned healthy grass black
This product burnt weeds and our healthy green lawn. It is nothing like their liquid weed and feed product that we usually use attached to the hose. So disappointed that we used a different version of the product. Be really careful if you try this. Our lawn looked great with a few weeds and now looks terrible.

Lawn burnt also.
Burnt the leaf off our Nara turf also. Don’t know how this product would ever work without burning the way the application guides are currently worded. Salting without dilution is not best practice in my experience and is bound to severely damage any stressed plants. Would only recommend using this product in ideal situations.

Hello Natania,
We are very sorry to hear that your lawn did not respond well following the application of Yates Buffalo Pro Weed and Feed Granular. ... Read more
It’s common to see the lawn turn black for a few days, but generally, it will recover to normal within a week. However, if your lawn stays that way for longer, we would suspect the grass has been ‘burned’, and application of standard Dynamic Lifter may not help revive the lawn right away. There are several factors that may contribute to the burning effect: - The bag of 12.5kg treats 187.5m2. If by any chance that amount of product was applied over a smaller area, it is possible that it will burn the grass. For this reason, it is imperative the area is measured before application to ensure that only the recommended rate is applied. - If the lawn area were drought stressed (no getting enough water), adding granular Weed ‘n’ Feed (or any fertilisers) could burn the grass. Ensuring the soil is moist to depth of at least 5cm before application, and that the lawn isn’t already showing signs of drought stress, will significantly reduce the risk. It should be expected that the lawn will recover. To assist in this, water well and regularly until new growth occurs. Also, we are happy to help look into the matter further if you could please contact us directly with your full details and photos of what has occurred. You can find out how here: https://www.yates.com.au/about/contact We look forward to hearing from you soon. YatesSimilar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Beware: It ruined my perfectly healthy sir Walter buffalo lawn
Applied as per instructions on a beautiful healthy Sir Walter Buffalo Lawn. It has burned it significantly. Whilst I think it may recover in time (two weeks since application), it has started to show new growth, it is evident that it has been damaged by burning. Please be aware as other reviews have stated. I will now have to use Munn’s lawn builder to repair the extensive damaged. Should be withdrawn from sale.

Lawn looked good... for a while.
The lawn looked good in the couple of months after applying the product. Now a year later, we have bindis in places where we have never had bindis before. Been living at this property for 10 years now.. And all of a sudden the bindis are showing up in the same places weed and feed was spread for the first time? Seriously wondering if there are bindi seeds in the packet. Would be the ideal way to ensure the customers keep coming back.. Not happy Jan.

Wrecked my grass
I applied by eye (probably 1st mistake) other than that followed instructions. It made 70 per cent of my grass black and didn't even kill all the weeds ! Would not recommend unless you can accurately apply. Been 3 weeks with black grass now! Be aware as if you make a mistake it will have devastating results. Would never purchase again !

Happy with the results
I followed the instructions on the applying of the product: Yates Buffalo Pro Weed' n ' Feed granular. I applied the 2nd cover of the product 6 weeks later. In December I was away from my property, upon my return in early January my lawn was mostly weed free and green. I am happy with the results, and will be using this product again . I used a 10 kg 9310428548390 batch number.

Rubbish, waste of time. Created more trouble to resolve. This product should be taken off the shelve
I wish I had seen some independent product review's before I purchased Feed and Weed Granular. A waist of time and it created more problems than it solved.
I have been in extended correspondence with Yates regarding this product. Yates claim this product needs to be accurately applied. When I say accurately means exactly. My question is how does a home gardener do this? I used a mechanical device and Yates say it was not accurate enough. It burnt large patches (2 meter x 1 meter) of grass on my lawn.
This product should be taken off the shelves. Its a pity this review could not be submitted without any stars, that's what it deserves.

Excellent - worked as advertised
Followed directions, and most weeds were dead after 3 days, followed up a few patches with a 2nd batch which wiped all weeds out after a week. I only threw it on by hand, so the spreading may have been a bit inaccurate Can't comment on how the feed part went, no obvious results, but surely didn't hurt. Will definitely use again.

weed n feed granular.
I have bought a number of fertilisers for my Buffalo lawn, but none of it has worked.l bought the Yates weed n feed granular in Sept. and Oct. It is fantastic.Such a shame that it is only sold in 15kg bags, this only does a small area and becomes quite expensive when you have a quarter of an acre.

Questionable results
First of all working out the correct dosage with a mechanical spreader (of another brand) was highly mathematical workout. One would expect that some conversions would be made available.
After having spread for bags of the product, following the instructions to the 't', I found that only patches that had extra dosage of the product, due to turning around and double dosing, had resulted in desired effect. More over only certain weeds got affected.
From the above I've reached the conclusion that the best line of action is using fertiliser and weed killer separately.
PS: Be sure to wash down your shoes before walking on concrete, as that could be the reason for staining.

Great product when used exactly as instructed
This works very well for me. It does an excellent job killing weeds, particularly thistles, without killing the grass around the weed. Apply the granules to damp grass and leave for 2 days before watering in well. If you don't water it in it will probably damage the grass. It is NOT suitable if you have any paving adjacent to the grass as it will almost certainly end up on the paving and stain it. Also it says do not walk on the grass and then on paving as this will transfer the granules.

Absolute Rubbish
Our beautiful stone paving is now ruined by this crap product! Applied as per instructions onto the grass, can't believe it can make such a mess of our paving! Wouldn't go near it ever again. Beware as NOTHING seems to remove it. Would rather have weeds and spend hours pulling them out by hand than apply this stuff!!!

YOU'LL BE SORRY
This stuff ruined our new limesto ne path and paving. I followed the instructions and warninga on the packet and it still managed to get on to my hardscape areas and leave nasty orange stains. This product should not be on the market if it causes damage to anything. Will take class axtion by aggrieved customers to force them to take respinsibility for the damage?
I tried getting some help for an antidote from their customer service but they just came back with things like CLR which failed to lift the stains. Unbelievable

Always a good result for me
I've been a long time user for the Yates W & F granular. In fact I've use the liquid form in Early August but always use the granular form early Spring. The key is to slightly wet your grass before applying on a warm day and check the weather forcast as it really needs 2 days for penetration on those weeds. I have kikuyu grass and apply using a wheel version spreader.

Crap
Worst thing I have ever used lawn looks like camouflage now has put me off all Yates products. No way would I recommend to anyone unless I didn't like them infact, I will be telling everybody not to. Waste of money and time and turned my reasonable lawn to crap.

Should not be on the market
Used this product on a very nice lawn with few weeds. Cannot believe the result after I applied it at the specified dosage. Lawn went black and in most areas never recovered. This four months later. I have weeds where once there was grass due to the blackening of my grass. A terrible product which should be withdrawn from the market. If you want to destroy your lovely lawn use this rubbish.

Don't Do It!!
This product is awful. I always use bin-die, which is absolutely brilliant. However, I have had a recent major lawn problem where it has all gone brown in the past four months when I switched lawn mowing people. I went to Bunnings and they recommended this product. It has stained the road, the curbing and my driveway. I have no idea yet whether it will kill the weeds even. I contacted Yates and they said the staining is permanent and I should have read the precautions. Like, how can you possibly avoid the product going out of the confines ...Read more
of the lawn when you water it. I told bunnings to make sure that customers are aware of the risks. Yates also said try x-fe by clearbore when I probed further. However, I can't find it anywhere in Western Australia and I have had to contact someone in NSW who is yet to get back to me. My advice: bin-die is unreal, Baileys 3.1.1 is unreal. Stay away from yates and any combo weed and feed deals. Bad, bad, bad.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Ruined my aggregate
Didn't kill any weeds but destroyed my aggregate! Wish I had never laid eyes on the stuff. I made sure I used the product correctly and followed the instructions. They should take this product off the market. Every time I walk outside I feel so depressed when I see my aggregate.

Questions & Answers
Sueasked
I used weed and feed granular on my lawn. Whist did green it up a little no weeds were killed. The major concern is that it has stained my new paving area. Rang customer service and they said to use CLR. This didn't work. I now have $4000 worth of paving marked with rust stains. Not happy. What can be done.

Hi Sue. I did not have that issue with the staining. However, my daughters lawn is still bare in many sections. After spreading the granules, and then watering in( as instructed), the granules are to this day( 14 months later), still on top of soil to rear yard. The granules turned white in colour- but hundreds are still scattered over yard. Needless to say, the lawn died in many areas and the weeds grew. Not happy with product at all.
On another note, a friend of mine swears by using hydro chloric acid as a means of cleaning pavers. Maybe try to look into the benefits of this product on pavers? Hope this helps
Thanks margie

Thank you for your question. Yates Weed n Feed Granular is designed to be spread onto the lawn. It cannot be mixed into your hose-on container.

Hello Jacki,
Sorry to hear of your disappointing experience with our product! ... Read more
It is indeed very different to the hose-on version and a healthy lawn would typically turn black with normal use of the product. Please note that this is not permanent, is due to an expected chemical reaction involving the active ingredient (ferrous sulfate) and is different to the 'burn' effect that might occur in a lawn where the product was used under unsuitable conditions. A healthy, growing lawn should return to its normal green colour within about a week; if this isn't the case for your lawn, please get in touch with our Consumer Advice Team so we can help identify the likely cause and suggest a suitable course of action.
