I am not sure of the type of lawn/grass I have =-- maybe some buffalo and some kyikuya I need to feed and weed it but the Yates Feed and Weed says not to use on Buffalo.. Help. I also have drying circles developing which may be lawn grub or another pest. It seems there are little round lumps of dirt around the areas (bit like rabbit dropping size) but I'm not sure if that is just from worms of ???? Can you please give me some advice.

Hi Sue.

When I used to use this product on my old lawn. It definitely had some form of buffalo in it - I don’t know exactly what it was. But it was buffalo like... It never hurt it. My advice is to take some of your lawn cutting to a nursery and see what they say - after all many of them have a degree in this field. And while your there, buy some of their product to support someone other then bunnings!

If your lawn has been very damp, you can get dirt mounds caused by earth worms. A sign of a healthy soil. If you have red wasps during the day, little brown moths at night, or the fluffy brown nests under your eves. Caterpillars on your driveway, or a small black beetle, You have grubs. You will need to treat for these ASAP. Army worm/beetle can devastate lawns within days.

Follow instructions, if you treat only once, you will fail to break the life cycle of the grub and they will be back in weeks. Multiple applications and preventative measures are critical for maintaining a healthy lawn.

All that being said. It can’t hurt to get a small bottle and spot spray a 2m squared section. Monitor it over a week and see how it goes. Failing that, there is a buffalo friendly version of weed and feed....

Patience is key with lawns. And remember. We are heading into cooler weather and therefore cooler soil temps. The time for lawn Reno’s is spring. A light fertilization now with some weed and grub control should get you through to spring.

Goodluck!

I think there may be, although I have used bottles that have been sitting in a hot shed for years and it still worked effectively. Like any chemical keep out of UV and it’s probably going to be fine to store for a long time.

Not 100% on this but think it might be the date of dispatch & batch number.Uusually a use by date will have ( use by ) printed .

I think you need to be patient and wait for some drier weather. You don’t want to spray the weeds to have the chemical wash off - a. Because it’s a waste of money, and b. Because you risk the chemical washing into creeks and rivers. Unfortunately this is the nature of the beast.

No different to farmers who use aircraft to spray crops. You have to work with the weather, and there’s nothing else you can do. Don’t panic be patient and follow the instructions and common sense!

Well the instructions read that you need a 24 hour dry period from rain & not to water for 12 hours (a bit confusing ) so I would pick the 24 hour one just to be sure, & that should get better results

Can you reuse the weed and feed spray bottle with weed and feed concentrate once the sprayer is empty? If so what ratio to water do i use?

1 answer
Colin
Colin

The bottle would be reusable, although the lid is difficult to remove.

However you'd need to calculate perform a bit of a calculation to get the dose correct for whichever chemical you wanted to use, as you'd be putting in a partial concentrate which will be diluted as applied.

The bottle is recyclable.

Husband used Weed and Feed last week wearing non waterproof shoes. Next day toes on both feet very red and swollen. Looked on bottle and saw we should have washed the feet immediately with warm soapy water. Too late now for that. Is there any recommended treatment as the toes are still red and swollen . I now realise that we should have read the label before using.

Depends on your local water pressure. I don't turn mine on full as it would blow the hose coupling apart. Low water pressure still seems to work. Make sure you open the little air hole pin on the Weed and Feed or the product won't come out.

Hi Olga, I am a complete novice and have not used Weed and Feed before but was amazed at the result after I used it. I don't think it killed every weed straight away but I noticed that the grass came back so strongly that it has crowded out all the weeds. There is one area of my lawn that has always struggled and is under deep shade from trees. This area has had a lot of 'winter grass' weed. The 'winter grass' does not seem to have been killed but another dose of Weed and Feed might strengthen my lawn to fight back - although I don't mind winter grass really. Overall, I am really pleased with the result so I recommend you give it a go.

Hi Cheryl,
Being a consumer I am unsure.
Yates customer service is terrible!!!!
I would never use this product again as it does not work. On contacting Yates they went into a long winded deflection on the type of weeds it doesn't kill, including ordinary clover!! Not sure what it does kill, probably some rare weeds that don't grow in Australia. Truely a waste of time and money.

Natasha T.

Hi Cheryl,
Its worked a treat on my lawn. Id suggest calling the help line or trying their live chat? They were super helpful and went through which one to buy for my needs. I also have normal clover so unsure why mine has worked so well compared with the response above.
Anyway - definitely worth a phone call Id say
