I purchased 4 geolanders YOK225/75R16 110/107R for my diesel courier from Bob Jane in Ferntree Gully in July 2014, service and advice was first class .I have now completed 56000km and the tyres look good for another 40000, but more importantly the grip in the wet is still better than anything Ive had on the ute before .I will have no hesitation in buying this brand again

An Odd Tyre

published

These tyres are a real mixture of good and bad. When new, good grip on asphalt and dirt. When worn 50% most of that grip starts to go away. Mine had 3-4mm left in the grooves but all the sipes and cross car grooving on the shoulders had disappeared. They have these what I have been told are quietening blocks that appear as the tyre wears ( well before the breaker strips show ), and they the seem to make the tyre become noisy and lose grip in cornering. Straight line grip remains ok, but cornering and gravel roads become a problem, the tyres start to wander. Will not put back on, also way too expensive, I put Pirelli on instead.

Already had 30000klm on the tyres and just done our trip across the Plenty hwy, and back across the Simpson Desert, tyres did chip slightly in the hard gravel, great across the desert, should get close to 70000klm out of them. I have them fitted to a 2008 Rodeo, never tested in difficult, muddy conditions but handled everything I asked of them, best advise I got and goes for ever tyre, Adjust tyre pressures to suite the track conditions!

these are 'the original' tyres of my brand new LEXUS ES sedan - so, I can imagine their quality preferred for Lexus Cars - built for great drives day in day out - all the year round - I need no other quality ratings more than these -
I can be well assured of their durability and great mileages per litre of petrol !!! !!!

Good, grip, happy to recommend.

published

We actually on picked thee tyres because we have an SUV and these were offered as a deal with 4 for the price of 3. They are more for highway than offroad use but have proved quite good in dirt. They have proved good in the wet and reasonably quiet on the road. Happy to recommend. The Guys that run this store are really great to deal with and the prices are very good and certainly comparable to big city shops.

Great looking and grip

published

Purchased these after factory tyres needed replacing, replaced all four. Was recommended these by Tyre Dealer and not disappointed. I love the ruggered look of them and seem to be wearing well after nearly a year. They are suitable for mostly road and about 30% dirt I believe. I have been on dirt, with and without a camper trailer and they provided excellent grip and handling.

I have noticed no difference in fuel consumption.

Excellent safe tyres.

published

We have always purchased from Yokohama and these tyres are excellent as the tread lasts for a long time and they hang on around the corners. These Yokohama's are are the safest for those long journeys and off road tracks. We will always purchase this brand because of the safety factor and they also do not slip and slide on the wet roads.

Cape York Roads

published

If you drive on rough gravel roads with tyre rills on them don't buy anything but Yokohama Geolandar A/T-S don't listen to any sale pitches about how good Coopers and Micky Thompson tyres are. I drive a lot on Cape York roads and the Geolandars are the best safe driving tyres on the market and are well priced.

Surprised at how they went

published

I bought a set of 5 GO12 and although we don't do a huge amount off road, we have done some pretty rough tracks and they have been great. We have had one puncture(locally and not offroad) that was repaired and never gone wrong since. They have done really well and have always held their air pressure well. Four years and 91500km+ later and three are still quite good while the other two are worn, our car seems to wear them down unevenly, no matter what is done. I have been told it may have something to do with all the roundabouts we have?! I have started looking out to get a new set, obviously the newer GO15, but not in a rush for them yet.

Good Tyre

published

Replaced all 4 tyres with Geolander SUV 215 70 16s on Outlander 6 months ago. Bought on price and wet weather performance. Have been happy with both and have found the ride of the vehicle improved in comparison to previous tyres (Bridgestone and Hancock). Don't do much off road driving so can not comment on that component.

Don't know where you people are coming from

As soon as the 'road tyres' that came with my 2007 SWB Pajero wore out they were immediately replaced with the Yokohama A/Ts 265/65/70.

Brilliant in the wet and dry.

The last set had 123,000Ks on them and still had 5 to 6 mm left. Only replaced them as Tyres & More had a 4 for 3 offer going.Highway, suburban or off road they have been great.

The Pajero went everywhere the big boys went with their Coopers and Mickey Thompsons at a fraction of the cost.

Look after your truck. Look after your tyres. The Pajero has now done over 300,000Ks.

I have no idea how people can destroy two tyres in 5,000Ks

Wasn't convinced that they were the right tyres due to my weekly commute of 400km a week on the tar and going off road most weekends but they have handled every thing I've asked of them on sand mud rocks and road sometimes the sales guy is right not always but sometimes

Worst tyres I have ever purchased in my 34 years of driving

published

I purchased these tyres after doing some research on line and was also advised by the dealer they were min noise on the road and would get better as they wore down but they got worse as the time went on to the point at 80kmh they vibrate the car and the noise is unbearable even at 100kmh the are very noisy but not as bad. Good off road in the bush/beach but no good on the highway. I still have over 1/4 tread left but have no choice to change them. I rotate the tyres approx. every 6 months to give even ware. Maybe not the tyre to suit a 235/65 R17 rim but wanted the extra height which was achieved by approx. 50mm. Any feed back would be appreciated.

Great tyres for a great price

published

These tyres are quiet, that's the first thing I love about them.
We have had them for almost 12 months and they are doing really well, we had cooper at tyres before which were also a great tyre and purchased these on a whim due to a price promotion at the time.
I honestly thought these tyres were going to be a so so tyre but they hare really proved me wrong and they really are an excellent tyre.
We have towed the van, been on long drives, taken them offroad through mud, rocks and gravel in the alpine region and they have actually really surprised me and a few of my mates with way more expensive tyres.

The only test left will be longevity the rest is awesome.

Good for 60,000km+

published

Fitted these yoko's (265/65R17LT) 6yrs ago. They done about 60,000km on the Prado & still about 4-5mm tread depth... if I hadn't wrecked one with a bung wheel alignment that I've just noticed, I'd probably get another 20k km out of them. So they are good for 60-80km. Gonna change them now as they're 6years old. They've been good tyres, mainly on the road & a bit of light 4wd'ing. I'd have no probs recommending them & might even buy them again. I ran them generally at 34psi.

I purchased a new Jeep Cherokee Trail Hawk in 2014 which has Yokohama Geolander SUV 245/65R17 107H tyres fitted. I only drive on major made roads and do not drive off road. I have just ticked over 50,000kms and the rear tyres are needing replacing, how many kms should I expect? I previously had an Jeep Overlander and got over 80,000kms on the first set driving under similar conditions as I am currently doing.

It seems like you've been speeding around corners too often and no it doesn't seem odd to me - if the tyres need replacing them feel free to have the store replace and balance the tyres ;however, I've found Bridgestone and Goodyear tyres to be superior to the yokahama but, it also depends on the prices of the tyres

What is the tyre pressure for a Geolandar D91 225/60/17 on a Subaru Forester AWD?

1 answer
James
James

There should be a tyre pressure placard (label) mounted on your car - mine is mounted on the drivers door frame. This will give you the Subaru recommended pressure. I run my tyres a bit higher - eg. Recommended pressure says 190kPa in my car. I don't know about the D91, but I find with the GO12 tyre 248kPa (36psi) is more appropriate for highway driving. I drop tyre pressure down for different surfaces (gravel, sand, etc). Hope that helps.

G'day....Because I live in the tropics and do a lot of highway Ks, I kept the cold pessure at 36 pound all round (empty) and 38 in the rear when fully laden (750kg). If in doubt speak with a reputable tyre dealer for clarification.

Steve W
Steve W

I run 40 lbs on bitumen towing or not. Never had a problem. My tire dealer told me that a set ago.
