We would like to buy a king but I have read your king is two singles next to each other? What happens if you sleep in the middle of the bed? You should feel the gap between the mattresses?

I'm not sure why my username says "frustrated" ? please note I did not type that in and am not frustrated with Zenna
Jeffrey W.Zenna
Hi, thank you for your enquiry and good question.
Our king size consists of two long single latex cores placed next to one another and zipped up in a bamboo cover, this provides for two benefits - one is as the mattresses have a firmer side and a softer side each sleeper can have their own preferred side so sleep on and secondly should you move home the mattress cover can be unzipped and you can carry each individual core conveniently. We have sold many king size mattresses and your question regularly pops up, you should feel no gap or anything different in the middle of the mattress.

Hi. Will a zenna mattress cope with a metal bed with metal slats 17.5ish cm apart? If not, what will happen to mattress if you did use it on such slats? (It’s really hard to find an all metal bed that is strong and this one is the only one I could find, but the slats are more than 8 cm apart. Wooden slats are useless because they just get mouldy in humid climates so need a mould free solution ie metal slats. )
Also can you dry steam clean a zenna mattress (hotter dryer steam so less moisture)?
And can you have the queen in two parts as well so it is not as heavy ?
People say latex is hot to sleep on. How hot is the zenna mattress to sleep on?
Thanks

I think you should ask Dave at Zenna - he is extremely knowledgeable and trustworthy. I think a metal base and slats would be fine but not sure about spacing. I personally wouldn't dry steam clean the latex - you can wash the bamboo cover. Don't think you can get Queen in 2 halves - you can get a King in 2 parts I suspect. Google your questions or call Zenna direct. You won't get a sales pitch but an education. Roxie
Jeffrey W.Zenna
Hi, thank you for your enquiry. We recommend that the slats not be further than 8cm apart, you will end up with a mattress having indents where the actual slats are as these will become the load bearing areas.
You can remove and wash the cover, we would not recommend steam cleaning either the cover or the latex itself.
Only the king size comes in two pieces.
Our Latex has an open cell structure and is one of the most breathable sleep products on the market and should not make you hot.
You are most welcome to phone us on 02 94376172 and we will gladly guide you through your concerns.

I need to replace latex mattress which has lasted us for 12 yrs. original price $6.000. It was extremely comfy. It came with a Mattress base. Am I still able to use base with zenna mattress. Is zenna mattress heavy?
3 answers
Jeffrey W.Zenna
Hi Rosemarie,
Thank you for your enquiry. Our king size Zenna mattress weighs 49kg, you can place latex mattresses on any base although we recommend a slatted base, plain or upholstered with slats ideally not further than 8cm apart - this for breathability. Should your existing base not be faulty then you are good to go and can continue using it.
How many days can I keep it before a return if it doesnt suit.
Jeffrey W.Zenna
Hi Rosemarie,
We give a 100 day trial from the date you receive your mattress. This does not mean that you have to keep it for 100 days, most folks would know within 3 weeks if the product is unsuitable. We are also very flexible and have had occasions where customers have asked for an extension on the 100 days as they liked the mattress and just wanted a little more time to adjust to the mattress and wanted reassurance from us. It is very seldom that we are requested to return a mattress.

Can anyone tell me about their experience with partner disturbance? The main reason
Im considering this latex mattress to hopefully eliminate waking up every time my husband turns over.

Jeffrey W.Zenna
Hi Karen,
Thank you for a good question.
In our view the most effective products providing for least partner disturbance would be latex, visco elastic memory foam and pocket coil mattresses. I would caution to say be aware that some adverts show a glass of wine on a mattress (without the quilted sleeping surface) and a bowling ball being dropped next to it without the glass of wine falling over, but once a cover is placed on it plus the fitted sheets etc the same exercise will have a different result. For very light sleepers even the movement of the doona can disturb them. Obviously the larger the mattress the better, our king size actually has two long single cores in one cover which further than minimum disturbance also allows for one sleeper to use the soft side up and the other sleeper the firm side up thus catering for individual comfort levels. Latex mattresses last 25 - years as well.
Thanks Jeffrey. I looked at your king size close-up pic and it seemed to be all one piece. Am I mistaken or is that an old photo?
Jeffrey W.Zenna
Hi Karen, thank you for your enquiry and good question.
We have used the queen size pics for all sizes and is an illustration as to what the mattresses looks like, once you click on the size you are looking for then the dimensions are provided. The king size is actually two long singles placed next to one another and zipped up in one cover, this allows for two benefits. One sleeper can sleep on the firmer side and the other on the softer side, also should you wish to move the mattress to another room or house the cover can be unzipped and the single cores carried one at a time. You will not feel anything different where the cores are placed next to one another.

how long before an indent exceeding 2.5 centimeters can be expected?

Jeffrey W.Zenna
Hi Trev, thanks for the enquiry, the reason we sell European latex is that they declare and test your loss over 10 years, the maximum loss on a Zenna over 10 years is 4% or 1cm, if you regularly rotate your mattress it won't even be that much, warm regards, Zenna.
Jason W.asked
Hello,
We're looking to get a single mattress for our 4 year old, but we will also need a base as well. I was wondering if you had any recommendations for a good fit with your mattress?
1 answer
Jeffrey W.Zenna
Hi Jason, thanks for the query, the beauty of latex is that you can put it on anything as being rubber it doesn't lose it's shape, but the more air circulation the better, so we recommend slatted bases with slats no further than 10cm's apart, warm regards, Zenna.

Hi- I am looking at buying a new mattress & have been researching quite a lot. I need to have a softer feel as I have bad hips & circulation problems in one leg. I am a side sleeper. I also sleep hot. I was concerned yours would be too firm for my needs. I also just read that it's best on a slatted base but I only have a traditional ensemble base and really can't afford to replace this too. Thank you, Lea J.

Jeffrey W.Zenna
Hi Lea,
Thank you for reaching out to us. A Latex mattress because it is natural rubber does not lose its shape and can be placed on any base (preferably one with airflow) and if yours is still good then no need to replace, it is well suited for most folks and is also zoned which makes provision for hips and shoulders thus alleviating pressure points. The Zenna also is a genuine medium and has a firmer and softer side (marginal difference) so you can flip the mattress for the feel that you prefer. The mattress is well ventilated and should not contribute toward making you hot. Most folks have individual comfort level requirements thus you are not alone, please give us a call on 02 94376172 and we will happily guide you through your situation and explore what is suitable for you.
Warm regards
Dave
Hi Lea,
Latex is fantastic for a number of reasons, if you need it to be extra soft I know Zeena have a topper you can buy as well. Ours is on a normal bed base and we dont find it hot and we are also side sleepers. I hope that helps

Hello, could I please check the weight of the Queen sized mattress?
2 answers
Can’t tell you the weight in kilos but the staff are very helpful and I’m sure can answer if you call. Mine came rolled up and the package had fabric handles which made it easy to handle. I’m only 5’8” and 74kilos and I lifted it out of my carport carried it into the bedroom and put the package on the bed. It was easy to carefully cut the plastic off and carefully let it unfurl onto the bed. Love the mattress. Got it a few weeks ago and just turned it as instructed.

Hi Sandra, the Zenna Queen weighs 50kilograms

Hi can you please tell me how much will the matress puff up from day 1 to 3 dose it get much softer after this time.is this waiting time for a smell to go or for the latex to spring back thanks mel.
4 answers
Hi Melissa, I would say it puffs up about a third more straight away as the air comes back into and then just takes a few days to get to its fullest and softest. I rotated mine quite a bit at the start so it would settle evenly.
I didn't get much of a smell at first but it's definitely gone now.
I just bought a single mattress for my daughter after buying mine ;)
Hope that helps.
So you think it should get a fair bit softer after a few days then.becouse i just had a realy bad night on our new king sisded...so im scarded iv just made a huge mistake trusting all these posative reviews.
Hi Mel. I like and wanted a firm mattress and was worried it wouldn’t be firm enough. While I love my mattress and am very happy with it, it took a couple of weeks to adjust to it as it was different from what I was used to. I didn’t have a real issue with smell. I hope it works out for you.

Can you place it on a traditional mattress base (i.e. one that was bought as an ensemble)?

They need to breath so best on a slatted base. I used an IKEA esperval.

Hi, thanks for the query, yes a traditional ensemble is fine, as long as it is slatted, warm regards, Team Zenna.

7 comfort zones naturally adjust to your body providing support where you need it. Flip for a firmer feel.
Why flip can have a firmer feel?
What is the thickness of the latex?
1 answer
Jeffrey W.Zenna
Hi, thanks for the query, one side of our mattress is about 10% firmer than the other as we use the Natural Dunlop method of manufacture, which is to allow the latex to settle naturally while baking, hence like a loaf of bread it settles a little more on one side than the other, the thickness of the latex block is 18cm's and cover adds 2cm's to make a total of 20cm's.

There seems to be a lot of "dancing" around the answers here.. using words like "core" or %Natural etc. so lets, make this simple shall we?
What is NOT natural in the product, ie apart from the natural "core" what other materials are used, ie is any foam used, is any synthetic material used in either the "core" other parts of the mattress or the cover..
What percentage of the actual mattress = natural?
1 answer
Jeffrey W.Zenna
Hi Gregory, thanks for the question, the core is simply the mattress, one block of 100% Natural Latex no foams no synthetic, no layers.
Rosieasked
Hi there, the website says that the Zenna mattress is “certified as 100% natural“ by the Eco Institute. However my understanding is that the Eco Institute tests whether materials meet certain thresholds e.g. for hazardous materials, pollutants and emissions. They don’t test, for example, whether the material is natural or synthetic. I’ve read a few forums which indicate that some customers have previously received mattresses from Zenna that were a blend of natural and synthetic latex so I just wanted to double check before I order. Can you please clarify what the Eco Institute certification means? Do you have any other proof that the mattresses are 100% natural latex?
2 answers
Jeffrey W.Zenna
Hi Rosie, thankyou for the query, the Eco-Institute DEFINITELY tests for any synthetic latex and is the world’s LEADING AUTHORITY on guaranteeing whether it is 100% Natural by testing each latex mattress and passing it as 100% Natural with a certification number reference (as per our certificate) which can be verified,
“100 % Natural Latex Core 1114 — 33337 — 001 11/2018
they would definitely not pass any latex mattress as 100% Natural if it had any synthetic latex, our raw material is 100% Natural latex sap from the rubber tree. They do also test for hazardous materials, pollutants and emissions, note that our supplier is not a small manufacturer in the industry (it is the biggest in the world), we are also certified by OEKO-TEX CLASS 1 https://www.oeko-tex.com/en/business/certifications_and_services/ots_100/ots_100_product_classes/ots_100_product_classes.xhtml
In 2016 we sold both a blended and 100% natural latex, we soon realised that people only wanted 100% Natural, so in 2016 we discontinued the blend, since 2016 we ONLY sell 100% natural certified latex.
Verification can also be obtained directly with Latexco, the largest and most sophisticated latex factory in the world. Feel free to contact Latexco directly as well to ask about Zenna products. ([email protected]).
Warm Regards
Team Zenna
Yes you sold blended BUT you sold them as all natural core latex and did not inform the consumer!!
It was not until I used the code and contacted the manufacturer myself that I discovered I had purchased a blend NOT a natural latex mattress. That was an 80% SYNTHETIC and only 20% organic latex blend. Yes that was in 2016. You are not owning misleading your customers in the past.

Bit confused by the description: "Pure European latex core with 100% natural latex... No chalks, no fillers, no chemicals, no metal used...". A few questions: 1) where can I see/touch it? 2) is there any polyester, foam etc in the quilting? 3) the bamboo fabric - what is the non bamboo composition e.g. polyester? 4) apart from 100% natural latex is there anything else in the mattress e.g. synthetic latex? 5) what is the meaning of the word "core" and "with" - why wouldn't you just say :"Pure European 100% natural latex"?, is there a reason? Thanks. Looks interesting and we need to buy one so would consider any answers.
1 answer
Jeffrey W.Zenna
Thankyou for your enquiry, we will be adding some of this to our FAQ's
1) where can I see/touch it? /Apologies, we are an online only mattress..
2/3) the bamboo fabric - what is the non bamboo composition e.g. polyester? / We are happy you ask and that you are doing your due diligence properly. Many other mattress stores offer a "bamboo" or any natural fabric but actually use literally 3% or less bamboo yarn while still calling it natural. For Zenna, we wanted to make sure that the body is in direct contact with natural yarn only. You can only establish this with a natural yarn content of at least 33%. In our case, we use a knitted fabric of which the composition is 40% BAMBOO. As you may know, a knitted fabric consists of:
• a TOP yarn
• a filling yarn
• a BOTTOM yarn or so called backing.
For the Zenna mattress, Top yarn is 100% Bamboo = the layer that you touch. Part of the filling yarn is also bamboo which brings us to a total of 40% BAMBOO yarn of the complete knitted fabric (3 yarns combined). The backing is polyester yarn for the same reason as we choose the padding: to avoid shrinkage during washing. We opted for this (thin) layer of quilting to make sure the mattress still offers an outstanding micro-climate (= cool sleeping environment) while still ensuring the 10 year washability of the cover. (cold water and no spin).
Our mattress covers are certified by OEKO-TEX® CLASS 1, passed suitable for babies and children.
https://www.oeko-tex.com/en/business/certifications_and_services/ots_100/ots_100_product_classes/ots_100_product_classes.xhtml.
4) apart from 100% natural latex is there anything else in the mattress e.g. synthetic latex? / We do not use any synthetic latex
. The raw material is 100% natural latex.
Note that our supplier is not a small manufacturer in the industry (it is the biggest in the world) and they have certificates to back up this 100% natural latex claim. They offer, for example, the OEKOTEX CLASS 1 certificate as well. What this means can be found here:
5) what is the meaning of the word "core" and "with" - why wouldn't you just say :"Pure European 100% natural latex"?, is there a reason? The CORE simply means the latex block that is inside the mattress cover. Thank you for highlighting this. We are working on the website on a daily basis to make sure we are as correct and transparent as possible about our products. So allow us to confirm the following again: our product is a 100% natural latex mattress, 100% made in Europe.
