One of my burners keeps going out but i can fire up again and works okay for abiut 30 seconds then mis fires again. Why would it being doing this?

I purchased my Z & B twin grill about 4 years ago from Barbaque Galore & stipulated it was to be connected to Mains pressure gas. I have always been disappointed as it never gets hot enough to crisp (say steak). No matter how long I leave it to preheat it just reaches the start of the red line on the front thermostat. Is this normal because it"s not good enough & I find I am hardly ever using it because of this situation.
