Morning I noticed that the rotors blades on my MX8 are melting with the blue and white coatings coming off as a sticky mess. My pool is a normal chlorine pool I only use Hth products and my unit is only 8 months old. What do I miss or need to do to prevent this?

Hi. So my relatively new (7 months old) MX8 had the tracks coming off constantly. Now the tracks are both on and moving when lifted, but the device doesn’t move on the pool floor. Suction is normal. Anyone know what the problem could be? Thanks in advance..

The tracks might have stretched and they need tensioning so it will drive when the suction is on

Thanks, Shane. Can one adjust the tracks, or do I need new ones?

My Zodiac MX8 has just started doing the same thing but otherwise working well. I'll be keen to find out what the solution is.

Hi Peter, My Zodiac mx8 has been doing the same thing recently and I just discovered that the flow control valve had become completely stuck due to fine sand lodged inside the valve over time. I realised it is reasonably easy to unscrew the valve, remove the internal spring as well as yellow / red plastic inner sleeve and give it a quick rinse. Once reinstalled, my Zodiac now has approximately ten revolutions within 22 seconds which means the flow is once again very good.

Are the two drivers on either side both meant to move sideways back and forth? Or is only one meant to have that ability and the other one be still?

Hi. I've just installed a refurb kit in my Zodiac X8. When installing the A + B gearboxes I noticed that the 'black' drive gear and shaft moved side to side on one gearbox but the other did not. The one that didn't seemed like it was stuck? I believe that the gear and shaft coming out of each gearbox should slide side to side to instigate neutral and reversing engagement? Can you please confirm that my theory is correct as I'm not an expert but it makes sense to my way of thinking. Cheers. PS: These gearboxes are new and came in the refurb/rebuild kit that Zodiac sell.

Hello, my cleaner stays in the water weeks at a time. I’m sure this isn’t recommended but I don’t have time to be pulling it out each day.

My pool vaccum is getting stuck wedged up on a corner every night and I have to push it down and off the corner every morning. The wheels move for a while and then stop. I think it must be a suction or hose issue? I'm not sure, and any help would be great.

The rotors blades on my MX8 are melting with the blue and white coatings coming off as a sticky mess. My pool is a normal salt water pool with a Zodiac electrolysis unit. Why ? and can I get replacements?

Mine does the same...the chlorine I'm guessing...replacement are available as a kit...check out Pool and Spa Warehouse...I find myself having to do the other Tune Up Kit every 2 years.

I replaced the parts and now I remove the cleaner when not in use. I have too much salt in the pool and can't see an easy way to reduce it as the Council bans pool water disposal in the drains or water table.

We gave just purchased a Baracuda Tracker today and it wont climb the walls and goes around in circles. I am disappointed we are going away for a few weeks at christmas as we paid lots of money for it . We brought a baracuda as we have had the skirt models for years. Will be returning it for a refund and looking at other brands to clean our pool

Can the MX8 backup if stuck on stairs?

1 answer

Don't know. If it's on the step, it may reverse off. The one we have wouldn't actually have the traction to climb a step in the first place.

I bought a second hand zodiac mx8 only the base. ive hook it up to a twist hose to the base with the zodiac connector, then ive added a joiner to be able to connect the hose that came with the pool directly to the skimmer box. The zodiac goes in circles and doesn't climb the wall at all. I've only ever has a barracuda. Not sure what to do with this? I just dont want to spend more money on genuine hoses if thats not the problem.

would you have an idea why one side rubber track keeps coming partially off which causes the vacuum to just go in a a circle, back and forth?

Hi guys, we just bought a house with an inground pool and it came with an old Zodiac MX 8. The tubes were all cracked so ordered replacement ones, then found out the unit had way Too much suction and was getting stuck on a curved step so have just ordered the flow regulator valve as the hose just connected onto the unit.. we had 10 revolutions in 16 seconds! I noticed that our unit is also missing the float that attaches to the tube - what does the float do and is it needed? Will the float help the MX 8 get up stairs?

Cheers

My mx8 was climbing the walls ... Now it’s starts to, but falls back ... it’s on a regular gunite finish ... what can I do to bring it up the wall?

It sounds like a suction related issue, I would start with a good backwash. The MX8 could also be sucking air as it goes to the top of the walls, that means you could have air in the system.

Does cold water effect the performance. My mx8 is not moving but when I check it all parts free wheel ok. I put a rebuild kit through it this time last year
