Rubbish
The diaphragm has broken down 7 times (split ) The pool speed from skimmer box varies from1-2, and the pool gets tested on a regular basis . The outer casing has fallen apart 4 times ( where the float balancer is located) and back to the pool shop again . In total in near 18 months is has broken down 11 times . Better to recycle it in the bin. I have asked the pool shop for another model as this is a faulty item . Was told no, but under consumer law deemed to be satisfy the retailer has breached this Law . a complaint about diaphragm and item falling apart . I did have the original Barracuda suction cleaner and lasted 10 years, only the rubber feet base had wear and tear ( but 10 years !) If zodiac are serious about this product and reviews are not good .What are they doing about it ? Waste of Time and Money
The instruction manual is a joke both supplied and online. I had to watch YouTube video and the thing still isn't working properly after hours of tinkering. My relatively new Zodiac pump has to be on maximum all the time to get it to move and then it gets stuck in every corner. The amount of time I've spent on it is more than manually cleaning the pool. It does one sweep then slows down considerable, it has stopped climbing walls and I'm sure its not good for my pump.

Below Standard Product backed up by Poor Customer Service
Was a repeate Zodiac customer and fell for the T5, so sorry, The diaphragm failed 3 times in 18 mts and the skirts have also failed .
This product has inherent performance faults and should be taken off market. (By way of contrast/balance,Our past zodiac cleaners were all solid performers.)

Communications Don't match action
Bought a new cleaning system (Zodiac T5 Duo - Baracuda / Barracuda Pool Cleaner) through a Zodiac supplier in Feb 2018. After a few months a part failed. I bought the replacement part at a dealership so the system would work expecting the replacement on warranty to act as a spare. Multiple attempts at communication (with a promise that the replacement part is on the way - but NOTHING!. Verrrrrrry pooooor service. Can't recommend them to anyone.

Great response from Zodiac. I hope an early broken part is not a sign of things to come.
Purchased 6 months ago. Has been working well, cleaning a 60,000L pebblecrete pool with nearby gum trees dropping leaves. when checking the diaphragm we found the screw area on the casing had cracked and broken. Whilst this shouldn't happen just from normal use, Zodiacs response was great. We emailed photo's and asked for warranty action direct to Zodiac. We received a replacement part within a week, no fuss no questions.

Does not live up to how its advertised at all
I bought this pool cleaner 2 months ago for our brand new pool. It was advertised very well so I decided to purchase it. It is probably my most regretful purchase yet.
It is advertised as ( YOU DON'T HAVE TO PUT UP WITH THE CLACK-CLACK-CLACK RACKET FROM TRADITIONAL HAMMER STYLE SUCTION CLEANERS! Disappointed - to many part replacements
I had a few different models and never had as many parts break as this one has. I basically have replaced almost everything on the body, and now I have to pay another $100+ for the body assembly & bumper! Being in Florida this is used all year round and it just doesn't live up to the standards needed.

Disappointed with T5
I agree, I've had G2 with the occasional part replacements, lasted for years, but the T5 is the worst designed pool cleaner it deteriorates fast, cheap and nasty design, parts are are made of really cheap plastic and rubber and are designed to break easily in order to force premature replacement. I say to every one out there DONT BUY ONE! There are better quality ones out there and at a better price. If Zodiac really cared they would offer some sort of compensation in the way of being able to take the T5 back to retailer and paying a half the changeover price for a better designed model of the barracuda. How can Zodiac withstand such negativity and not doing anything about it to please consumers is beyond belief.

Piece of dung.
Worked well until warranty period nearly up. Went to the supplier & he replaced several parts but said the diaphragm (which was torn) was due to wear & tear. This was the 3rd diaphragm I have replaced. Saw cleaner not working again today & sure enough diaphragm
Torn again. Had the model before this one for about six years & only replaced one diaphragm. Other parts of this terrible piece of equipment nearly worn out again.
Would advise everyone to steer well clear of this bloody terrible piece of equipment as it will cost you dearly in the long haul (or not so long haul) will never purchase another piece of zodiac equipment everrrrrr.

Poor design, low quality materials and poor support
Whilst the T5 is very good with leaves and does a reasonable job of covering the pool, it took a very long time of tweaking it to run properly and not continually get stuck on the steps.
The skirt fell apart whilst under warranty but Zodiac claimed it was pool chemistry causing it. Yeah right! Had to pull strings to get a replacement.
The cleaner has broken AGAIN and when I tried to get parts where I bought it, they said they stopped selling them years ago due poor quality. After several diaphragms and 2 skirts it's now held together with superglue and hot glue. Mind you, I have managed to keep it going for 5 years.

So so disappointed.
The pool cleaner sticks in the corners and on the steps and have moved the weight and the deflector wheel so many times its a joke. Now after 3 months to the day, the diaphragm has spit. Given that the zodiac is fairly basic (no moving parts and made of plastic) and you pay for the design/patent, it is so poor that the materials fail when you have spent over $400. What does it cost to produce? $20?

Crap don't buy !
What ever you do don't buy a Zodiac barracuda T5 Duo as they are crap. Worst pool cleaner I have ever had.
All mine does is going into the corner and stay there. Called Zodiac numerous times to no avail - consumer service is very poor. The instructions that comes in the box is also very poor with hardly no instruction.

A good brand ruined by one lousy model!
Had a Barracuda (G2 I think) from day one of our new pool in 2006. Worked well and only periodic replacement of the skirt and diaphragm as you would expect. It finally died less than two years ago and given the good experience I had no hesitation in replacing it with the T5.
Generally speaking, it worked ok in my pool but as per other reviews, did tend to get stuck in corners or inlet/outlet covers quite often as well as climb the walls and suck air (and yes, the pump pressure was fine!).

poor construction
Always had Barracuda cleaners the last G2 was a great cleaner when it finally failed in March 2015 I replaced with T5 Duo within 6 months main body broke apart had to cable tie together now has failed completely and will not run. Pretty average construction, when it does work travels pretty well pity about the construction.

cheaply made and fell apart within a few months
I have had trouble with this cleaner almost immediately after a few weeks. Its always getting stuck and stopping on our lights and even gets stuck on main drain. I've never experienced this with any other pool cleaner.Things started falling off and breaking. Had to replace numerous parts in a short few months. Would never use one again and cant afford to replace it at moment so its very frustrating.

3 years and still going strong
I bought the T5 Duo in 2013 after researching pretty much everything available on the market and wanting to get something from a reputable brand at a competitive cost. The T5 worked perfect straight out of the box, easy set up, good pattern that pretty much covered most of the whole pool within a few hours of running and didn't get stuck. Some of the pool area was not covered but this was solved by buying an extra length of hose. r repaired a single part except the sole plate is now worn and needs replacement. Occasionally it might get stuck on a very awkward step shape at one end of the pool, but not often enough to be of concern. It cleans/passes over the far shallow end of the pool not as regular as the deep near end of middle of the pool. I guess that's because of the shape of the pool, but I just give those areas a 5 minute brush once every month or so. The only times it has stopped working is when it sucks a twig into it or the flow is too low because the pool filter needs backwashing. Normally I wait for the pool cleaner stops working to tell me its time to clean the filter than check the filter every day. Overall I am more than happy with the T5 duo and compared to my earlier model Baracuda it cleans much better, is less prone to getting stuck and it has been much less problematic.1 comment

Inferior build quality to previous Baracuda
My previous Zunit lasted a long time with a few replacement parts.
The head of the unit has completely fallen apart after only two years.
Promoted as never getting stuck in corners. But is always getting stuck on the steps of my pool.
I will look to other brands rather that buy another zodiac.

Zodiac wins again with T5 Duo!
What a relief....we have had a Barracuda for 5 years, when it wore out, we got a G2 which also worked for 5 years with no trouble...our vaccumes stay in the pool 24/7/365 (salt pool....highly recommend it for both people and pool equipment) about every five years we start to have issues and instead of replacing things, I followed the YouTube advice and just buy a new one....they are so reasonable that why wrestle with replacing things...guessing what needs to be replaced. What magic...I dropped the T5Duo into the water and it started working right away...completely cleaned the pool in less than 5 hours...walls, floor, steps. Our pool is tile with gradual steps so the T5Duo climbs the steps just like its momma and grand momma. Everyone seems to have problems with it so there might be some common way to construct pools in Australia that Europe does not use...Our pool is edgeless so the connection is in the wall, not the skimmer. Here is what I can observe: the suction should be set on the equipment to generate movement but not be set to 100% from the suction that holds the T5, the hoses should be connected only to the extent of length where it can reach (but not climb) the most distant wall, the weight should be placed on the hose at the distant end of the first section of attachment to the robot...this helps keep it moving. Hope these hints help...but if your pool has corners that are too sharp or steps that are steep, I can see that you wont have the same experience.1 comment

I bought one of these 18 months ago. I previously had 2 Zodiacs which gave good service but eventually wore out. I thought the T5 would be an improvement on the previous models. However, to get the required suction I had to run my eco pump at the top level, cancelling out the cost saving with an eco pump. The cleaner kept stopping at the steps. They sent me the correct wheel but it made no difference as the unit kept sticking at the steps and everything I tried would not resolve the problem. Can find a step and get stuck without trying
Despite numerous adjustments and changes this unit gets stuck on my step and has now damaged the liner requiring repairs. Despite having paid a premium for a Zodiac product the unit is cheap and inadequate in performance and efficiency. Would not buy another Zodiac product as service is purely lip only.

Yes you can but it will require some fine tuning . You may have to fiddle with the Position of the weight ring first then try adjusting the Zodiac 3 position pressure flow lever where your system attaches to the skimmer . If you have a skimmer plate with a adjustable flow rate valve you can try to alter the flow pressure that way as well. End of day it is not an exact one solution fits all so best of luck .

Just bought my t5 working well on the walls, floor but not picking up leaves.. Got it on the lowest suction. 1. Any ideas?

They are only designed to suck up smallish leaves. The rubber diaphragm is not very large or robust so you may try a more efficient plastic diaphragm ( talk to your local pool shop who should have one) Only proplem is this May void your warranty if still under 2 yrs old.
Also just make sure that the cleaner head sits flush to the pool surface all the time ( you can easily check this by observing it in the pool when not operating ( may also have to adjust the position of the “weight ring” or even fit a second one.

This autumn has been an incredible pain. My T5 duo would only work for sometimes as little as 10 minutes before stopping. Even the small leaves would get stuck. Thank goodness autumn is over. Already dreading next year. Ill check out the plastic diaphragm mentioned above.
