I have been in the pool inductry over 30 years.
One of my clients has a Zodiac CX20 Robotic pool cleaner.



It was not my brand of choice, nor did I recommend it or sell it to my client.

Over its 3 year life, It has been repaired once, unfortunately it was within its 2 year warranty however Zodiac deemed it was not a warranty repair & it cost my client over $400.00, They were not happy.
The cleaner has again been playing up. After calling Zodiac, they have simply advised that the product is out of warranty & they can no longer repair it (unless it is in Warranty).
They referred me to another company to get it repaired.
I rang the other company who simply advised they do not repair Zodiac Robotic pool cleaners. Back to Square 1.

Frustration setting in for my client & myself.
I'm in the pool industry. What hope has any other poor customer got.

The service is unacceptable.

I have a new VX65i model four months old. When I started using it, it turned over on its back and stopped moving once every two sequences. That lasted a month or two. Didn’t focus on it much. Annoying but giving it a fair go. Now it turns over twice every sequence rendering any automation capability useless. My concrete pool is almost rectangular and has fairly soft coving around the floor to wall. Anything come to mind or does this type of cleaning not suit all pools?

I wouldn't purchase one at all. Has to be sent back over east. Zodiac also not been in contact what so ever

My machine CX20 is 3 years old. Its been great until now. When you try and start it, the control box just switches off after 1 second. Often you cannot switch it back on without unplugging it and trying again. I have done a thorough check for blockages. Any help would be appreciated

When it switches off do any lights come up? From manual. Troubleshooting 5.1 Using the Information LED
The information LED on the Control box flashes in a specific sequence to indicate one of three possible cleaner malfunctions.

Floating cable may not be plugged into the Control box correctly.
Unplug the floating cable from the Control box and reconnect.

Turn cleaner wheels to ensure they are not jammed.
Check brushes for debris. Start a new cleaning cycle.

Pump axis or propeller may be jammed with debris.
Dirty filter.

I had LED flashes once on mine. Replacing cable fixed it. But I did test the cable with a multimeter to discover a short in the cable before installing the new cable.

In that case it may not be the cable. If you disconnect the cable from the control box and press the on button you should get one red flash indicating a cable issue. If not, I’d say you have a control box issue. Also I would test cable first with a multimeter for continuity with wires and any shorts between wires. Otherwise you may replace it unnecessarily. The robotic unit can be dismantled fairly easily with a Phillips head screwdriver. If you dismantle unit you can plug the motor by itself into the control box to see if it goes. If not it will be an issue with one of three things, the cable, control box, or motor. Good luck with it.

My CX20 only goes in one direction. Goes up the wall then stops drops to the floor and then restarts up the wall again. Any suggestions apart from putting it in the bin?

It will likely be the motor block as mine did the same before it stopped completely.

Hi Gerry here my problem is my near new zodiac cx20 spews dirt out top of cleaner and makes water cloudy dirt should go into filter, very disappointed any ideas?

The standard basket in the CX20 is a 200 micron filter; but you can buy a 100 micron filter which will catch more finer dust. I use my CX20 at the same time as the regular pool cleaning cycle so any dust it sweeps up from the bottom of the pool which isn't caught by the basket is filtered by the regular pool skimmer & sand filter.

I do use a 100 micron filter, so all dirt coming out top of cleaner should be going into filter.

How to adjust rollers? Track's in good shape but needs the rollers. adjusted to take up slack on the rubber tracks. It's a CX20

I don’t think rollers are adjustable. Most likely new tracks will fix it unless rollers themselves are broken in some way. I had mine totally dismantled recently.

Our cleaner is 2 years old. We recently spent $400 on it as it stopped working. It worked for a few weeks/ month..and now turns on but does not move?? What is going on?

Probably the motor block or the PCB in the motor block. It could possibly be the control box.

Is there a reason why the tracks just come off and is there a fix.
I have had my cx20 pool cleaner for 2 years now. After one year one of the tracks kept coming off so I purchased a new one but unfortunately the track keeps on coming off regularly.

My Zodiac Cx20 will only drive in one direction. Any tips on what could be wrong and how I might be able to fix it? This is its second summer of use. Was working fine at the end of last summer and was stored for the winter. I have tried calling Zodiac but obviously they are not open on weekends.

Mine was doing that. It was a fault in the cable. If you totally disconnect the cable and test with a multimeter you may find a short between two of the terminals. That was the issue with mine. Replaced cable and all good now.

CX20 has stopped working tried to contact zodiac no answer left message to call back no response. With the reviews with no responses from Zodiac looks like some thing that needs to be looked at by Fair Trading commission. I have read all the reviews and all CX20 seems to have the same Issue . Sadly you are one of the many (like myself) clients that purchased a reputable brand, which sadly suffers with NO custoer service.
Like you I have changed motor, now am skeptical about paying another $300 to change the control box - and need someone to say "test it like this" or offer something to get us all out of this predicament.

After calling this week, leaving callback numbers, then emailing, have now allowed 7 days before I go to the CTTT to ask them to investigate how Zodiac are allowed to operate in this manner, in contravention of Australian consumer law.

Same thing on my cx20. Ive used it once a month during winter and twice a month in summer so lightly used. Now stops moving after just over 21/2 years and they say bad luck, past 2 years, dont wanna know ya. Cant even refer me to a dealer nearby that I can get an assessment on repair.
Looking at these others there seems a familiar trend. Maybe they need a class action like VW

My CX20 is about 3 years old replace tracks and some other parts last summer spent around $250. Now light is flashing on control box and and machine wont even turn on. Really not wanting to spend anymore money on this system is this an easy fix?

My CX20 stopped working just short of 2 years in. The control box works but the machine itself doesn't move. Very disappointing.
I tried to submit an online support request. No response.
I have sent my invoice to Zodiac. No response.
I am currently on hold to Zodiac - 40 minutes I have been on hold. Please employ more staff to respond to your customers. Not very happy at all right now.

Hi has anyone had this issues with a cx20. Ive had this unit for about 12/18 months now but for the last couple of month it will only clean half the pool and doesnt even bother climbing up the wall anymore. Ive tried all the setting on control box to no avail. Has anyone got any ideas? Cheers Steve

This is what happened to mine. Just sits in corner goes 1 direction only. My unit is just 1 year old. Sent back for warranty claim (was a difficult process). Poor communication from company. Got returned with no explanation and after my reaching out to company was told nothing was wrong with the unit. I had to package the unit to send to them. It hadn't even been unpacked!!! They just held it for a while then returned it. Unfortunately this company is poor at customer service and warranty claims.
my unit works but I have to guide it around the pool and have no other option even though I still have 1 full year of warranty left. Goodluck

Yeah thats what Ive come to guiding it around the pool.. never gonna buy another zodic product again. Well worth the $850 I paid. May as well employ I guy to come round and clean it for me.

Hi I have a Zodiac cx 20 Ive had it repaired twice in the past. It has been working great for the past year but now only stays on for about 5 seconds. Would it be the motor or the power box? Out of warranty.

My CX20 has developed a fault in the last couple of days. It works for a couple of minutes and then stops with the error light flashing.
I recently replaced the control box and it has been working fine for the last month. Not sure what to do. Have tried turning on and off at the power supply to reset but didn't work. Don't fancy an expensive repair for a unit that isn't even 3 years old.

Ive had same problem repeatedly. This is a design flaw - NEVER BUY ZODIAC
Basically the pin that connects to the control box corrodes - turns green or similar
Need to clean the pins (may need a drop of mild acid), dry (important), and plug back into the controller
Need to ensure unit kept in dry storage - but i find I have to do this repeatedly anyway

Hi, my CX20 has started to barely move. It basically gets to one end of the pool and won't move anywhere. It's like it's running on 10% power. Any ideas what might need replacing - it's about 2.5 years old. Both rubber tracks only replaced 6 months ago. Thanks, Lee.
