Paid a huge price and questioned it!! Roseville chase pool shop...
Bought a few things from the pool shop including a G2 diaphragm for my zodiac pool cleaner. Rand back after I bought it as it seemed very expensive at @ $50 and was told that it was a "genuine part" and therefore more expensive. It lasted 2 months!! So not trust these pool shops..... Order these online!!!

Zodiac G2 Suction Cleaner, from Best Pools Supplies.
Zodiac G2 Suction Cleaner, from Best Pools Online.
The Zodiac G2 arrived 2 days after I place my order. I assembled it as per the instructions and it worked as good and better than the old Barracuda we had straight out of the box. We looked at robotics and the Zodiac MX-6 cleaner but decided that we didn’t want to be pulling palm fronds out of it all the time or continually empting bags when the G2 style like our old cleaner does the job just fine. The basket holds enough leaves and is easier to empty than pulling the cleaner out and reinserting it all the time. Vacuum cleaners can be left in the pool at all times except when back washing.
Great time saving and efficient product, thanks Zodiac!

Exceptional lifespan, easy to obtain, economically priced spare parts.
We has our pool constructed in 2001 at which time we purchase a Baracuda (Zodiac) pool cleaner. After 13 years we have just had to replace the cleaner not due to it ceasing to function but after much use over many years the casing of the cleaner started to become brittle and so chose to replace before it broke. Over the period of ownership have only replaced 2 diaphragms, 1 suction mat and several hoses. We had no hesitation in shopping around to see what else might be in the market as we had amazing proof of our new Zodiac G2's predecessor.

Grrrrrrrr!!!!!!
We are also finding our G2 is tearing the diaphragms. Two in a month! Not happy at all.
It seemed to work fine for a time and now we're going through so many diaphragms.

Drives me up the pool wall
My last comments were removed so I guess these will be also. Pulsator (Silicon diaphragm) fails regularly (tears at a seam). Parts are expensive. Steering wheel just perishes....as does the skirt. Weights fall off. Springs on regulator rust away and break. Hoses split at the connector bands. Easily assemble incorrectly (but this is not apparent. The smallest gum-leaf will strangle its operation.
It will fit in a standard size garbage bin without disasssembly
I own two so double the trouble

Poor
Had to replaced diaphragm 10 times in 2 years, so stops pulsating, parts are to expensive, $25 for diaphragm that's $250 for 10 that's been replaced, pool people will get zodiac to look at when in next, wait and see, after 2 years looks to be falling apart, would not recommend, does anyone know of better brand that works,
diaphragm keeps splitting

G2 has stopped pulsating
Worked fine for a year now has stopped pulsating and wont move around pool. No blockages and has. Good suction. I bought a new yellow diaphragm, but still does dont pulsate. I am baffled! . I expected to get at least 5 years use. What now? Does any reviewer have a remedy for this?
easy to install, quiet, did the job.
struggled to clean far end of pool from skimmer box,
2 comments
I called Zodiac and explained what was happening, they sent out a tech who found a large metal washer in the neck of the diaphragm, once removed all worked fine. No charge.
Goes to show ...not the fault of the cleaner, as in most cases this is a very reliable cleaner if set up properly...cleaner will not clean far end read your manual adjust eyeball jets and add or remove hose lengths

Barracuda G2
This cleaner is the best we have had. We've tried many others over the years and the G2 has performed without any major problems cleaning the fibreglass pool well. The only problem we have had was the leaf basket was not sealing which reduced suction to the cleaner, causing the cleaner to work erratically.
Easy to change the base and diaphragm and reliable performance.

Pretty average compared to a Kreepy Krawly
When my 25 year old 'Kreepy' eventually gave up the ghost, it's longevity should have been a signal that it is the best on the market. I have constant blocking problems with the Zodiac diaphragm system, especially with leaves and in particular small gum nuts that get blown into the pool from surrounding trees. The Kreepy gobbed tham up - no problem. THe silicne diaphragm also has a memory so if a nut sits in there too long it widens the gap rendering the diaphragm useless.
BUT I HAVE A SOLUTION, unfortunately not to the regular blockages but t...Read more

Not Happy
This is a replacement that Zodiac sent me for a previous barracuda model that broke down under warranty. They sent replacement parts for the warranty model but these too failed after only a couple of months. To their credit they sent me this G2 as a goodwill gesture to make up for the problems with the previous model. Unfortunately this G2 is just as bad if not worse. The disc looks and feels like its melting (the second one), the body has broken. It just does not do the job. Could not recommend
Zodiac were good with warranty
You don't need to use the warranty if the product is good. Not a reliable product
1 comment
If the disc looks and feels like it is melting it is probably due to high chlorine levels and I would have a pool shop test your water. Very high chlorine will melt your cleaner and anything else you leave in your pool.

Works for me!!
I have a freeform pebblecrete pool and my G2 was installed by my poolguy about 4 years ago. to date I have only replaced the diaphram about 6 months ago and today 2 hose peices which i had spare with the kit. It cleans 80 percent of my pool but does not clean the beach area as it is too shallow. (not really a problem) The G2 only stops working if it get clogged with leaves or twigs. would I buy another one? YES.
maintanence free!
4 years and signs of deteriation.

When the stars are aligned it works well
Unfortunately the stars only seem to be aligned once a month or so. I cannot put my finger on why it sometimes goes like a rocket all over the pool & up the walls & some days it just lazily moves in one end of the pool. We have replaced numerous parts over the last few months, but I suppose anything that is constantly in chlorinated water would break down. I have not used other types as this came with the house & we have not seen the need to get another yet.
It is easy to drop into the pool & take out as needed.
Not consistant with the cleaning

Terrible
Avoid this cleaner for square pools. It will drive you up the wall as you watch it do a lap then get stuck and pulsate for an hour (as you pray it works its way out of the corner). I have tried everything and every combination of everything. I know my way around pools (I use to install them) but this cleaner has got me beat.
Simple design. Easy to maintain.
This is my 4th Barracuda but this one gets stuck in a square corner. Nothing I do prevents this (moving weight, using/not using wheel deflector, moving pool returns, tying rope to hose, redu...Read more

Excellent
Only had this cleaner for a week but so far it is the best cleaner I have had. (had 3 previous cleaners) Pool was very dirty when I installed it and it completely cleaned the pool within 4 hours without getting stuck in any corners or jamming up with leaves. By far the best I've had, previous cleaners have been Predator, useless, maxivac, OK but fell apart, and an old Barracuda which I inherited with the house, was just worn out.
Does what it is meant to do, Seems well made, Doesn't stop working when it sucks up leaves
Expensive compared to similar cleaners

Not even worth one star.
Does one lap on the pool then gets stuck in the corner (within 20 seconds). Found the receipt from the original house owner when purchased. Not worth the $870 they paid. I'm sure it would be a great product for a round pool but useless for any other shape.
Expensive, doesn't do what it's meant to do.

Hi Leaner, have you tried different suction settings? Have you tried different number of hoses, Try also moving the weight on the pipe up or down. This unit works for me! My pool is a 8 x 4 square pebblecrete in ground pool. Hope this helps!

I would rate this a zero if it was an option.
Absolutely awesome if you need one corner of the pool cleaned. However did start to wear away the fibreglass where the hose continually rubbed while ‘pulsating’.
Came free with the pool!
Continually stuck in the corner of the pool. Moving weight, removing the guide wheel, pointing the returns every which way, using the three different pump speeds and generally spitting and cursing had absolutely no affect on the performance of the equipment. Obviously not designed for use in a rectangular pool.

Great producy. I had a Zodiac X7 for 12 months which was totally useless. After reading the reviews and subsequently complaining to Zodiac they repolaced it with this unit free of charge. Great customer service.
Does exactly what it needs to do.Is fast and does not get stuck and gets all over my pool quickly. If I lengthened the hose,it would probably climb out and clean my car for me as well. The best cleaner I have ever used.
Maybe a bit pricy. Spare parts and replacement bits are very dear for what they are.

It's really quick, really manouverable and saves me a lot of sweat - I don't have to stand out next to my pool in the hot sun anymore vacuuming it by hand.
The backup service is exceptional - I just called 1800 688 552 and they helped me figure out how to prevent the Baracuda from getting stuck in certain areas and how to make sure it covers the whole pool. There's even a large deflector wheel available to buy to prevent it from sticking on steps and in the corners.
I'm told it's not quite as random in its coverage as the more expensive model - the G4.

I've submitted this review because I'm impressed, can't say more than that. Can only compare with Zodiac Pacer which was less than ordinary in most ways.
Cleans every square inch of the pool floor and possibly all of walls. Is quiet, how can a cleaner be noisy? Was easy to install
Only noise comes from hose sometimes hitting side of F/G pool & maybe some pulsating noise when swimming underwater can't see a problem there particually with a pool full of screeming kids. When looking at the design I thought the deflector ring could have been a bit larger this worry was unfounded as the unit is neve stuck for more than about 3 minutes at a time and this seems to only occur a couple of times in a 2 hourly period.

ate to think how many times a day this happens when im not here to fix it . can anyone tell me how to fix this problem, or will i add this to its stuck in the corner fault. If your cleaner is continually climbing high up the walls then this is an indication that the suction is too high. If you have the suction tester that came with the unit adjust the suction so it is around 2.
