Roll on summer!
We recently had a ducted air con system installed by Barkers and couldn't be happier with the results. The personal service was great, very helpful and they knew their products well. All our questions and queries were answered. The installers were cheerful and friendly, worked quickly and carefully and cleaned up what little mess was made. We are very happy to recommend this company for price and service.

I called barkers on Friday after noon after I called 2 other air con companies ..Shannon's and buderim air who said they knock off and it will be an after hours call out fee even though I called in business hours,they clearly don't have enough staff or just simply don't care as I would assume after both had rude receptionist..anyway i called barkers and they still came out .. lters,drains and covers even the nearby ceiling fan without asking! Very thorough and outgoing. Friendly guys and booked me in to a programmed service routine so I don't forget .. All boxes ticked! Very unhappy with Barkers Rerigeration and Air Conditioning
Toward the later part of 2013 my parents paid 9k for a ducted air conditioning system from Barkers to be fitted into their newly built 3 bedroom one level house.
The first issue we had was the fitting of a vent. The ‘boys’ who carried out the fitting did a terrible job hacking into the coving of the ceiling to try and make the vent fit. The end result (this is a brand new house) looked like a mess – an apt description would be a’ cowboy’ job.

. We paid for the repair to the ceiling where the vent had first been installed out of our own pockets. When summer kicked in, my parents turned on the air conditioning to find that on full power, the temperature would only drop to around 26 to 27 degrees. The boys were sent out again and concluded that there was no issue and the cause was due to the house being too large for the system and that there were too many windows and that my parents had been informed that they should have gone with a larger system. It was pointed out to Barkers that even at night time with all power (both units) directed to 1 small bedroom only (approximately 3.5 meters by 4 meters), the temperature would not drop below 26 to 27 degrees (recorded over a 2 hour period at night time). 1 and half months after first reporting the issue, my parents are still waiting for Barkers to fix the air conditioning. They are an elderly couple in their mid to late 70s, both with heart issues and have endured summer without being able to cool their house. Two weeks ago I phoned the owner and asked when they would come back out and fix the issue. I was informed that he would come out in person that week. Two weeks later and no show or telephone call from the owner. Yesterday afternoon, I called the Barkers (5:30pm). Firstly, the owner (who answered the phone) took offence that I called him half an hour after he had finished work. I was then informed that he didn’t know when he would be able to make it out to my parents house – ‘could be 3-4 weeks, I don’t know, I’m very busy and doing the best I can, I’ve got backlogs from before Christmas’’. I asked him why he could not make a telephone call to me or my parents to inform us that he would need to re-schedule. His answer again was that he is too busy. I also asked him why in that case 2 weeks prior he has said that he would visit that week. The owner then informed me that my parents should learn to be patient. I have to admit that I saw red at this comment and queried the owner in no uncertain terms as to whether he was mocking me. His response was to yell obscenities down the phone calling me a ‘smart [censored word removed]’ and a ‘[censored word removed]’, prior to hanging up the phone.Similar opinion? Unscrupulous Behaviour
For required air conditioning spare parts, Barkers quoted in writing about double the correct price and wanted payment in advance. When asked by email to justify their price, they did not reply. To a further email saying that their unscrupulous behaviour was disgraceful, they did not reply. When their technician had come out originally to assess the air conditioning problem, they had insisted on immediate payment for the call-out.

Rude, unprofessional, unreliable, terrible customer service
We were promised a repair to be completed no more than 2 weeks after initial contact - as they needed to order a part we were left to play the waiting game, we were told the part would take no longer than 7 working days from the initial consultation, after this period we contacted 'barkers refrigeration' and spoke to the very rude, older admin woman whose refusal to chase up the supplier or do anything further than answer with short remarks about how we 'would just have to wait' was disgusting and extremely frustrating. 5 weeks later - still n...Read more
o part - we, called on a friday, to see what was happening and were told by another admin woman that the supplier sent the wrong part weeks ago and that they have only just re-ordered another part, it should be here no later than the monday - no part monday or tuesday - on wednesday we had the misfortune of landing through to the older rude admin woman, on yet another phone call made by us to 'barkers', who was unwilling to co-operate or pass the call over to the more helpful woman - we tried explaining that if it took any longer we would have no choice but to seek another company for repairs - upon this the older woman ranted about how she told us 'to just wait' and promptly hung up the phone on us. This has resulted in us enduring 5 weeks during a qld summer ~ and through the festive period with no airconditioning, a toddler who doesn't cope with the heat well, and the stress of dealing with such an ignorant, rude and unhelpful point of contact!! Disgusting!! Never again - we have endeavoured to accurately reflect our experience with this 'mob' in any and every review we give.
