Really good

published

When we were faced with the fact that our baby was not getting enough expressed milk we had to go down the formula path. We heard good things from friends about this one and so we didn't hesitate to give it a try. Baby has had a lot of tummy issues with just expressed milk when she was born so we were a little concerned having to use formula. Baby pretty much took the formula straight away without issues, so we were really impressed and relieved.

My baby loves it!

published

This formula is easy to prepare. It dissolves quite well without issues (unless you just mix it with room temp water instead of warm water as suggested by the company). To my surprise, my baby changes from breast milk to this formula without any problems and she seems to enjoy it! And it doesn’t cause conspitation.

Great transition from a fully breast fed baby.

published

This formula is easy to prepare and mixes very well. After exclusively breastfeeding my 5 month old took to this formula instantly. It smells pleasant (not like fried potato, like some other formula's) It is on the pricier side of the formulas, and sometimes is hard to find in supermarkets.

Not for us

published

The formula was really foamy when made and I found it made my daughter quite gassy. It also made her constipated for days then have big green diarhea every 3 or so days. She was definitely uncomfortable, we kept her on it for 3 weeks before calling it quits. She is a much happier baby now we changed to a goat based formula.

The formula is straight forward to prepare and instructions are non complicated. We tried a few formulas but this formula really suited my child and we are currently preparing for step 2. Highly recommended, let two family friends know aswell and they highly praised it too. There were no side effects with our child. :)

Perfect for my baby!

published

I wanted to introduce formula for my baby when he was 6 months along with breast milk. While i was searching for it Bellamy's organic stage-1 caught my eye because it had higher proportion of organic ingredients.
Formula is easy to prepare i usually prepare formula with boiled water cooled to room temperature and have found no issues with mixing. It has been around 2 months my baby is happy with it.

Great formula that satisfied the little one for hours

published

After having milk supply issues, I reluctantly made the decision to purchase formula. I decided to go with the organic choice and was surprised that my baby took to it immediately. After hours of crying from lack of food and exhaustion, this formula filled him up so much, he slept for a lot longer than a normal breast milk feed. Since then, I have been using this formula just on the overnight feeds to help him sleep longer. It has been a very big help for both of us.

Not too bad

published

Yes, easy to prepare but baby does not like it. I tried a little bit then found it’s too light. Maybe because it is organic product. Its price increased a lot during past years, and sometimes not that easy to get from supermarket. Baby’s poo was all right after having this formula. Totally it is all right if your baby loves this watering taste.

Nice taste

Have tried many formulas and finally settled on this one. The taste is great and baby seems to like it. It does have a tendency to froth and clump up so I just stir it in to warm warmed water with a spoon and that stops the air bubbles and mixes it evenly.

Love Organic Products.

published

I am a big fan of all kinds of organic products. I like the idea of giving babies a start as natural as possible. Just watch out the water temperature when mixing it. It should not be cold but not too hot either. I normally squeezed a little on my wrist after mixing. I can feel the lukewarm liquid before feeding.

Constipation sometimes, but mostly good

published

Used this formula from 4 months onwards to supplement breast feeding which was suggested by the Paediatrician. The doctor said any brand will do but we chose this because of the Organic factor. Also started solids at the same time and baby was constipated at times. But I am not sure if that was because of the solids or formula though.
But we did not switch brands because of that and continued onto the Step 2 at around 8 months. Switched completely to cows milk around 13-14 months and did not continue to Step 3.
Overall happy with the product with no major issues. This is the only brand formula sold by Costco and is sold at a slightly reduced price compared to other stores.

Loves it, price is inexpensive and my baby digested well

I have switched around among several brands, didnt find too many differences. This baby formula melts pretty easily, my baby didnt show any dislike, every time she drinks to the bottom. And her poop color is normal. So, nothing special, but the price is good and it always available on the shelf.

Baby loves this

My baby is extremely pick. We tried several different baby formulas with no success. We went over a friends house and was given a sample for our bub to try. She drank it all! We were a bit worried at one stage when our baby wasn't feeding as much. Bellamy is more on the creamier side I believe and is probably why the bub likes it. It seems to be in stock at most stores and is generally not sold out like some other formulas are due to the Chinese Formula boom.

He seems to enjoy it

My boy is 11 months old and started having formula around the 6 month mark. My wife looked into the formula options and went with this one. I can't comment on why but he certainly hasnt complained. Even when going from breast milk (we would mix one bottle a day in and gradually increase) there was never any protest. I have never seen any side effect and he is on the 80% percentile weight (people comment on how well proportioned he is - not fat) so it must be working. It also regularly goes on special for $25-26 at Coles and Wollies so we make sure to stock up.

Great infant formula

My daughter was mixed fed since she was a few weeks old. I liked the fact that it was an organic baby formula and while a little on the expensive side, wasn't as pricey as A2 formula. My daughter had no issues with the formula and it was an absolute lifesaver

Good one

Organic means you are giving the best for your baby. Easy to prepare provided that you mix with right temperature water, but it will not dissolve if the water is cold. So best to prepare and store in the fridge if your baby likes drinking cold milk. Formula can be made and stored for unto 24 hours which is really good.

Excellent brand.

A lot of my friends's babies drink this brand, most of them say that's excellent, but some say they may cause indigestion for babies, like they cannot boop regularly, BUT still a good brand and most people like it and always ask me to buy and post this to them.

Great for babies easy to digest

published

Formula is easy to prepare, and coming off nan ha which caused severed constipation this was a godsend.. only problems are it’s sometimes hard to get and it is more pricey than other formulas. The other good thing is that it is made in Australia in Tasmania. I would recommend this product if you are looking at a formula that’s gentle on a baby’s stomach and easy to digest.

This is perfect

I bought it due to its good reputation and it's made in Australia in organic environment.
It is easy to prepare. My baby loved it in the first few weeks, when he was on both formula and bread-fed. It allows me to help my wife and get her some more sleep. After he was fully on bread-fed, we find he started to be picky to prefer bread-fed to formula milk. No side effect noticed.

Besides, it's easily available in local supermarkets and pharmacy with occasional discount!

Formula was easy to prepare and my bub had no issues with it. Another great thing is that it is for 0-12 months so no need to change it after 6 months. Plus it was always on sale at supermarkets so wasn't as expensive as typical retail cost. Worth it

Step 1 Infant Formula

Does it give baby gas and also Constipation

Yes gas, very bad gas. Delays the bowel movement by a day or so then comes all out at once. Soft but very painful for baby to have a full tummy and passing so much wind.

Bellamy’s Organic do not manufacture an infant formula specifically for anti-reflux. However, in some circumstances under the strict guidance of a health professional or doctor, you may be able to thicken your baby formula with commercially available thickeners. You may wish to seek further advice from your health professional about this. Reflux in infants can sometimes be due to a poorly coordinated gastrointestinal tract and may still occur regardless of what non-specific infant formula you use. Generally treatment consists of various things including:
Elevating the head of the baby’s crib or bassinet
Holding the baby upright for 30 minutes after feeding
Thicken bottle feedings with cereal (do not do this without a doctor’s supervision)
Change feeding schedules (discuss with the child’s doctor first)
Try solid food (discuss with the child’s doctor first)

Constipation is often misdiagnosed. If you think that your baby is experiencing constipation, you should seek medical advice to rule out anything serious. It is not uncommon for formula fed babies to pass stool less frequently than breast fed infants. Stool can often be a different colour and consistency.
Any changes in diet can cause changes in stool movements; frequency, consistency and colour. In Australia it is a requirement that all formulas are fortified with mineral iron for healthy growth and development of babies. The added iron can cause some stools to be green in colour and may cause some transient constipation, particularly when compared against stools from breastfed babies. Babies go through amazing transitions in digestive function as they grow. Their tummy’s can be affected by all sorts of things including sickness, teething, and different and new foods or drinks being introduced. All in all however, you know your little one best so if you are worried, you should seek advice from your medical practitioner.

Hi Jenny,
At 6 months it is recommended that you commence our Step 2 follow on formula as it contains the appropriate quantity of vitamins and minerals that are best suited for a child of this age group. If you do wish to stick to Step 1, we would advise seeking medical advise to see whether this is suitable for your child.
Kind regards,

Good morning, hmmm i read in the previous posts several times, that stage 1 is suitable till 12months.
How come you are recommending me to switch to the follow up formula if previous posts stated its ok to use stage 1 formula till 12months.
I m very confused now.

This is one statement from one of your previous posts :

Both our Infant Formula and Follow-On Formula are nutritionally complete and will provide your baby with all the nutrition required for healthy development until they are about 12 months of age.

Bellamy's Organic
Bellamy's OrganicBellamy's Organic

Good morning Jenny,
My apologies for any confusion. The paragraph you have quoted above is intended to explain that the Formula fed to the corresponding age groups will provide the nutrition required. We still encourage you to transition to Step 2 as the formula has been crafted to suit the nutritional needs of an infant within a defined age group. By continuing on Step 1, your infant may not receive all the required nutrients to support their needs from 6-12 months. It may be suitable for you to use up the Step 1 you have assuming your child is receiving enough nutrients from other sources, we would still encourage you to seek medical advice.

Please see below the advice we provide on how to best transition.
While most babies and toddlers would be expected to experience a smooth transition between the old and new formulations, it’s important to remember that every child reacts differently when changing formulas. Because of the addition of new ingredients to our formula, your baby or toddler may initially experience some digestive changes. Whilst this is completely normal when transitioning to a new food or formula, we recommend that you transition slowly from one formula to the other at around 75% original formula with the addition of 25% new formula and increase the new formula over the course of 1-2 weeks. For a bottle using 4 scoops of formula, this would equate to 3 scoops of original formula and 1 scoop of the new formula. Always ensure that both formulas have the same scoop to water ratio. If you are worried about any persistent symptoms, please seek professional medical advice.
Please let me know if you have any further queries.
Kind Regards,
Jacqui

Step 1 Infant Formula

Hi, I'm from malaysia
The doctor says that my daughter can start solid already and she's 4 months+ now. It's hard to find Bellamy's rice cereal for 4 months. Is it OK if I buy for 6 months ones. What's the difference actually?

1 answer
Bellamy's Organic
Bellamy's OrganicBellamy's Organic

Hi there,

The formulation of ingredients for the 4 month baby rice is more suited for infants of this age group who intend to begin solids. The 6 month baby rices have additional ingredients that are more suited for an older infant. It is advised to start at the 4 month baby rice if your child is less than 6 months to avoid any possible tummy upset when starting solids.

Kind regards,
Bellamy's Organic
