Not that good after a couple of months….

published

I bought this toaster a few months ago, and I had been relatively pleased with it. Unfortunately one side has just died on me, so I think that it’s safe to say that I’m not really impressed now.

Even toasting.

Contempo 4 slice toaster with 2 years warranty. Don’t pay $200+ for a toaster this one for $39.00 from Big W does the job. It’s the best one so far I have ever purchased.
Individual controls, even toasting (have included a pic of both side of toast)reheat and defrost option. Has a long cord. Stainless steel case.
On high setting of 6 sourdough bread comes out evenly toasted but I haven’t tried it with regular bread. Some how I think the 6 setting would be too high.

One-side issue again - what has happened to toasters?

published

Having trouble finding a reasonably priced toaster that toasts evenly on both sides. This is no exception. Takes a long time to only partially toast bread. If turned up, incinerates one side while lightly browning the other. Was cheapish but no better or worse than more expensive toasters tried.

Fantastic.

Went to Big W yesterday for a toaster and came away with their Home Brand Contempo Four Slice Stainless Steel. It was $35 but because it did'nt have a box and had a ding in it I got a ten dollar discount.
The thing cooks like a champion. Evenly...like I mean evenly. The best slice of toast I have had in years. And on top of all this the thing has more power than a V8. 1750-2100W. Mate that's cooking power. I was all set to spend $150 or so but saw this and thought well I can bring it back if its a dog. Its mechanism is smooth and everything functions as it should. I'm still pinching myself.

It toasts my bread, as expected.

published

This is pretty straight forward toaster. It toasts relatively evenly and consistently.
Can’t fault it on its toasting abilities.

Isn’t the most stylish even with the stainless steel look.

The ‘pop’ is a bit soft so it’s difficult to hear when your toast is done.

Relatively cheap no frills toaster.

2 slice stainless steel toaster- pretty good

published

I’ve had this toaster for about 18months.
It toasts fairly evenly on both sides, but I’ve had other toasters before (breville & sunbeam)
and they never toasted perfectly even either, so for $25 I’m pretty happy esp that it still works

This toaster actually toasts your bread.

published

After trying many different brands, which were not cheap, I found this $25 toaster in Big W. It actually works like it should. The bread gets toasted on BOTH sides. Joy, joy. Never heard of Contempo before and thought it to cheap to be any good. I love it.

Not worth the money

published

This toaster will half cook your toast, with one half cooked and the other half slightly warmed- on both sides of the bread, and in all four slots. Waste of money.

Works fairly well.

published

I bought this cheap $25, 2 slice toaster from BIGW to replace a different brands piece of excrement masquerading as a toaster that i paid $50 for.

This Contempo toaster toasts fairly evenly on both sides and you can clearly see that the elements are fairly evenly lit up.
Works on muffins and crumpets.
It looks and feels like a cheap toaster but i don't care about that i just want it to work as a toaster, it has a 2 year warranty.

Perfect toast

This toaster is only new but we have found it to toast fairly evenly and crispy. Three controls work well. Excellent value for money. Works just as well if not better than our previous expensive toaster.

Happy second toaster in a week

published

Bought this toaster because the earlier (different brand) would only brown the bread on one side. Had no trouble doing an exchange at Big W.
This one took a few days to get to the right setting, from burned toast to hardly done but now we have it pretty good on a low setting and get our toast just right on one side and almost right on the other. Satisfactory at that anyway. The popout is powerful and gets close to making the toast airborne.
Overall, a good choice for a limited budget at $25.00.

why are most toasters these days having the same problem of not toasting properly on one side of the slice?

My Contempo ems to work ok. Both sides are toasted almost the same but it took me a few days to get the timeout to a setting that suits me. The only problem I now have is because pops up so quickly it often spits the toast right out of the toaster.

I have a Contempo 4 slice toaster, it was 25$ at Woolies. This is our 2nd, on the first one taken back because the toast didn't pop up when cooked, I had to force the lever up. I've just cooked toast in the 2nd and had the same problem, toasted wouldn't pop up when toasted. Why?
