I have fine hair which I colour regularly. It is dry and breaks easily and has split ends from blowdrying. If I don't blowdry it, it is just frizzy. Will this hairdryer be gentler on my hair so that my hair stops being so dry and damaged?

1 answer

Dyson Team ..Dyson

Unlike some others, the Dyson Supersonic hair dryer measures air temperature over 40 times a second, and regulates the heat to prevent extreme heat damage.

For fine hair, and sensitive scalps, our new Supersonic includes the new Gentle Air attachment. This attachment diffuses the air, creating a gentle, cooler airflow, while still providing fast drying.

Should you have any further queries, our Dyson Experts are available via [email protected] and happy to help.

Hi Dyson team, I am recently encountering what sound to be the same problem with my Dyson hair dryer too. I am also hoping to see if there are solution to this issue.

(My Dyson supersonic stops suddenly after a few minutes and flashes 3 red lights, then if left for a couple of minutes itll work for a couple of minutes, then cut out again. It does feel hot).

Dyson
Dyson Team ..Dyson

If your Dyson Supersonic is cutting out, this can indicate the machine's airflow is restricted.

We encourage cleaning the filter cage and filter as shown here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uK67n4RwAhM

This should solve the problem, however if not, please email [email protected] and our Dyson Experts will be in touch very shortly to assist.

I bought my fusion hair dryer from USA can it work in Hong Kong?

Dyson
Dyson Team ..Dyson

Apologies for any disappointment, however Dyson Supersonic machines sold in the USA are designed to work on the US power supply with a voltage of 120V. As the voltage in Hong Kong is 220V, a US Dyson Supersonic won't work on the Hong Kong power supply.

If we can assist further, please don't hesitate to get in touch via [email protected], we are happy to help.

Can it work in Canada?

Dyson
Dyson Team ..Dyson

While a US Supersonic will work in Canada, we cant recommend it, as machines are tested to the regulations and requirements of the country they are sold in. For example a US machine is tested and certified to UL, ETL and FCC regulations to ensure that it is fit for retail. In the UK this would be BEAB, BS, IEC and CE, Canada CSA and so on. Each country has its own rules and regulations. We do not guarantee that a machine used outside of the country it is sold in meets all of the requirements of the second country.

If we can assist with any further queries, please don't hesitate to get in touch via [email protected], we are happy to help.

To confirm, the first generation of the Dyson Supersonic had a recommended retail price of $499.

While the machine is the same, we have re-engineered the Diffuer (to style with greater control and reach deeper into the hair while reducing frizz), and the Styling concentrator (to be wider and thinner), and added a new Gentle air attachment (engineered to be kinder to fine hair and sensitive scalps). With these new and re-engineered nozzles, the price has increased to $549.

We hope this helps, however our Dyson Experts are available via [email protected] should you have any further queries.

My airdryer won’t work, it has power as three lights are flashing on the left side as you look at the machine? Do you have any suggestions please.

1 answer
Dyson
Dyson Team ..Dyson

If your Dyson Supersonic is showing three flashing lights, we would encourage you to clean the filter of your machine as this can indicate the machine isn't getting the airflow it requires to provide optimum performance.

You can find a video showing how to clean your filter here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5sdZckXOmEM

This should get your Supersonic back up and running, however if not or if we can assist further, please forward your details to [email protected] and our Dyson Experts will be in touch to help.

Can I use my Dyson Supersonic that I purchased in Australia when I move to Ireland later this year?

Best to check with Dyson direct. I seem to remember reading somewhere that they are designed to be used in the country they’re sold in. That may even have been on the Dyson website. However Ireland and Australia have the same voltage so you may be lucky. You might just need a UK plug as their pins are different to ours. But as I said. Please check with Dyson Customer Support. Heaven forbid you damage your hairdryer.

Dyson
Dyson Team ..Dyson

Thank you for your query. While Australia and Ireland share the same power voltage (230V) and frequency (50Hz), it isn't advisable not to use outside the country of purchase.

One of the reasons for advising against the use of machine outside of the country that they are sold in is that the machines are tested and certified to meet that countries regulations and requirements as each country has its own rules and regulations.

If we can assist with any further queries, please don't hesitate to get in touch with our Dyson Experts via [email protected]. We are only happy to help.

Apologies for any disappointment, however Dyson Airwrap machines sold in Singapore are designed to work on the Sinaporean power supply with a voltage of 230V. As the voltage in Canada is 110-120V, your Dyson Airwrap won't work on the Canadian power supply.

Thank you for your query.

The Dyson Supersonic does have built in electronics to help should the voltage spike above the normal electrical current, however for a change in voltage this great, we can't guarantee it.

We would suggest contacting the Dyson Experts in your territory. The contact details can be found on the sticker (also showing the serial number) towards the end of the power cord. If you aren't sure, please email [email protected] and our Dyson Experts will be happy to help.

Fortunately it did not fry it. Wow you can't answer a simple question? For all the money you spent on design, I think you should get much of it back from your designers. A cheap $18 dollar hair dryer has dual voltage. Why on earth should a $400 dollar one not be able to be used while traveling! Not smart, get your act together. Lucky I don't take my vacuum traveling! Eish come on Dyson, You brag about your great studied design and modifications and you missed this!

I am able to blow dry my hair fairly straight using the thinner nozzle attachment but I do finish it with straighteners. The air flow from it is powerful and more directed and doesn’t seem to blow the hair around as much, maybe it’s that which creates a sleeker finish

Hi Vicki,

Thank you for your query, we are happy to help.

The Dyson Supersonic includes a diffuser, allowing you to dry curly hair effectively and gently, wihtout high air speed that can cause frizz. You can see a video here that may be of interest: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CuCib31WXSA&index=3&list=PLkvJFz1AotSthk6qDnkgUDvuxFVOcnEyD

Hi, I bought my Dyson hair dryer in Hong Kong which is 220 volt. If I want to use it in US, what kind of transformer do I need?

2 answers

Hi Josephine,

Thank you for your query.

While the Dyson Supersonic purchased in Hong Kong will work on 220-240V power supplies, it won't work on lower voltage power supplies like those found in the US.

We do apologies for any disappointment, however we are unable to make any suggestions or recommendations to use a machine designed for the Hong Kong power supply in the US.

It will work! But, it will work very slowly. However if a tool is bought in usa(one voltage 110-120) it will be destroyed in europe, since the 110V won't handle a higher voltage.
And once again higher voltage tool will work in lower voltage countries, but slowly. Low voltage tools will be damaged in a higher voltage countries.

Have you rang or emailed Dyson Support? It might be that the power voltage is different is different from country to country, and the hairdryer requires a certain voltage for it to work. The fact that the lights shows up means is partially working. Perhaps there is not enough power for it to fully work? Was it a new hairdryer? Have you visited the Dyson site to see possible problems and how to fix it? Contact Dyson directly. Their customer service is very good. Though I have never had to have my hairdryer looked at yet.

Dyson Team ..Dyson

Hi Feeyona,

Thank you for your query.

Dyson aim to provide as much support as possible in any country where Dyson has a presence and assess every situation case by case.

In terms of durability, we are confident the Supersonic will last the test of time. During development, we dropped the machine over 1783 times, twisted the cable over 310,000 times and pushed the buttons more than 52,000 times. It has been run in chambers simulating temperature changes from 70 degrees Centigrade to as low as -20 degrees Centigrade. We tested it to ensure it still works when exposed to over 37g of dust and lint, as well as simulating it being stood on by a 110kg person, dropped down a flight of stairs over 100 times and shaken and twisted by machine for 62 full consecutive days.

In the unlikely event you experience any difficulties, please get in touch with the Dyson team in your territory. If you aren't sure of their contact details, please email [email protected] and we will be happy to help you get in touch.
