Unhappy customer.
I am very unhappy with the Epson XP 720. It is not very old and I get ink splatters all over my photos. The ink head cleaning kit is very expensive from Epson and for the price I pay for ink I think I should not need to purchase cleaning kits also. All my printers in the past printed photos with no problems at all. I purchased this one because it was meant to print excellent photos but so disappointed with the results. . It looks like I am needing to replace this printer.
Purchased in August 2021.

Another Frustrated printer
I brought this printer in 2017 I am about to replace it and not with another Epson after reading Frustrated printer it could have been written by me, tearing my hair out trying to print photo's I have had to throw out the last 8 photo's with ink splatters on them, even after cleaning it twice, wasting very expensive ink, would not recommend this product to my worst enemy.

Frustrating printer
I bought this printer as my research showed it would be an excellent photo printer. When it works, it does indeed produce great quality prints. However, I spend more time cleaning the heads and replacing the (really expensive) ink than I do actually printing. i am constsntjy getting splatters of ink or missing ink on prints. I then have to perform multiple nozzle checks and clean the heads till it works (and even then it still sometimes doesn’t produce a clean print). all the head cleaning wastes so much ink. It is incredibly frustrating and I wouldn’t recommend this printer to anyone.

Had no problem with Epson till now.
I have an Epson XP 720, which I'm now on my second. I purchased it in April of 2017 and around October it started to play up. The Black ink wouldn't print although there was sufficient ink in the cartridge and some of the words would be half printed. I cleaned the heads and it was o.k for a little while and then continued to half print. I replaced the cartridge at $33 dollars and it wouldn't print black so I rang Harvey Norman and they told me to bring it in as they would send it off. I waited till April 2018 and took it back. Under the cover c...Read more
are policy which was for 4 years which only covered the first printer. Harvey Norman replaced the printer with another Epson XP 720 and I took out another cover care insurance and this time, it was only for 2 years should anything go wrong with the printer. It proves that event Epson now don't have a lot of trust in their products by only giving 2 years cover and not 4 years cover.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Problems I am having
Had a fantastic Epson Printer in the early days, loved the colour I got when reproducing my paintings as prints. Replaced with a Canon, was never happy with the colour Canon produced so 2 & half years ago I replaced it with the Epson XP-720. that is when my troubles began. Went online and found the XP-720 was recommended as the best for photographic reproduction. Apart from some concerns with wi-fi, my main problems started when nearly every time I tried to print something it splattered ink all over the page, I rang Epson in Sydney, they recom...Read more
mended I keep cleaning the head to clear the problem, they had no other solution. Gets a bit beyond the joke when I have to do it every time I use the machine. Next problem, every other time I try and print from cassette 2 it won't grab the paper, keeps saying no paper or paper jammed, this will go on for 2 or 3 times before I can get it to work. Next problem it's so slow, when I do my prints on Epson quality matte paper I have to individually feed the paper in 1 at a time even if I want to do multiple copy's of the same painting. Is there anyone out there who can help me with these problems. Next step will be buy a new printer not an Epson. .Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Excessive ink on paper sometimes
I am satisfied with the print quality and ink price seems to be on par with other brands. It rarely jams but is easily cleared (usually caused by paper). Double sided printing and rear paper slot are handy. I've not used it for for photos nor cds so no comment on that function. My only criticism is that sometimes there is a little too much ink on the paper, sometimes as a blob, sometimes as a line down the page, sometimes on the edge of the sheet, then it gets on hands and transferred to whatever I touch. It seems to occur about every 50-6...Read more
0 sheets. All things considered it is a good printer but if anyone is not printing photos then a printer with larger printing reservoirs would likely be suitable to make ink cost a bit cheaper.......Additional comment Dec 2018 I have now used it for printing photos over the last few months:- it is often (too often) leaving ink spots on the photo even when printing in draft mode. High quality printing is an absolute no-no! So not a good printer for photos.1 comment

Useless - Waste of Money
The XP 720 was recommended by Harvey Norman, however, it was a nightmare setting up and getting it to work.
Over the ensuing months we have had several issues with wifi printing and it seemed to consume a lot of ink.
Each time after changing the very expensive replacement cartridges one had to to repeat the set up procedure.
Never again will I buy an Epson printer.

Not Happy
Bought an Epson XP720 end of June 2017 three months later, had taken it back to store which I purchased from. Reason paper jams, as I did buy this printer for fast speed in printing and also printing our own photos that is the problem! Can only print about 10 photos before starting to jam up (Now on to our replacement same problem is again happening at the moment will wait until after holiday season) to take back to the store don't think I will buy another Epson Printer.

Rubbish Printer.
This is the worst printer I've ever owned. I bought it to replace a Canon that I'd used for 5 years and wanted a printer to print CD labels. It's forever needing ink which it runs through like water. It keeps coming up with error messages since I updated the firmware (which was recommended by Epson). Now it won't even print a simple black and white document because for some reason it thinks I want to print a CD. Don't waste your money, these printers are junk. I've given it 1 star because no stars was not an option.

Very disappointed
I've had an Epson XP-720 for several years and it has been problems too often.
This weekend it was a real crisis when I was going to sign a document, scan it to the computer to email and it was very important.
BUT, one color was out and it was not even possible to scan !! I wasn't going to print, just scan! This has happened before and also other problems that would take too long to describe. I tried to write to the support but there are only FAQs.
Now it goes in the trash even though I bought new cartridges at absurd prices.
I gave Eps...Read more
on 1 star on their website, unable to give zero and I wrote the review above. The answer I received, from Germany, was that they had moderated my review and "Our coworkers have read your review and appreciate your contribution even if it did not meet all the guidelines for our site. Thank you for sharing, and we hope to publish your next contribution! " Epson's guidelines are that they only publish positive reviews. And how many reviews were there? Right, NON!!Similar opinion? So far so good
I had some setup issue but it has been sorted by Epson technical support after a few emails and a few calls. Had to ask for 2nd level support to remote login into my PC to fix the issue or rather non-issue due to my using the old Epson scan application previously installed for my old Epson scanner. Currently I can print and scan but have not tried other functions.

Misleading marketing.
It advertises 5 colours, on the front of the printer it says 5 colours but there are only four - Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Black. - there are two Black cartridges and this is how Epson claims 5 colours - 3 distinct colour cartridges and 2 black cartridges. Rubbish. They could just as logically have ten black cartridges and market the printer as having ten colours.

My Initial Impressions of Epson XP-720 Printer
Epson Expression Premium XP-720
This cost me $176 at Harvey Norman Chirnside Park. The day after purchase, the Harvey Norman website increased the price to $249. At the time of writing this review, the best price on Ebay was $199 including postage. So it seems I was lucky with the price and there's more - there was a cashback promotion, so I'm expecting $50 back into my bank account at some stage from Epson. A net cost of $126 makes this printer seemingly a huge bargain (be aware that the cashback promotion does not apply to mail order and...Read more
ends 31st March 2015) I needed a printer that can directly print onto DVD's, and this is about the only such model that that I could buy off the shelf - all the others you can only get via mail order. Features & Functions - This printer has an A4 tray, another tray for 4 x 6 photos & envelopes, a flat tray for disc printing, a rear feed slot for manual feeding of single sheets, a choice of USB connection (eg to a PC) or wi-fi (eg to an ipad), a USB slot & SD slot (so that you can print photos without needing the computer switched on) and a scanner. You interact with the printer via a nice color touchscreen. The output tray automatically extends and retracts as needed. Comes with 5 introductory ink cartridges.2 comments
AUTHOR'S UPDATE - After a month of usage I am continuing to get totally unacceptable quality in STANDARD mode. When I change the settings to HIGH quality, the quality is REALLY good.
ANOTHER AUTHOR'S UPDATE - 6th December 2016.
I am now on my 3rd XP-720. They have started including a USB cable in the box.
