Seat Height Adjustment.
I wrote a rave report about my 2013 WT manual Fiesta a while ago. Performance is excellent, especially with the Magna Flow exhaust that I had fitted. Unbelievable fuel economy even on E10 95. No rattles or squeaks and nothing has fallen off yet. Apart from the fact of a slight over rev now and then between gears, I can live with it. Now comes the best bit. The driver's seat height adjustment. It is cursed with the seat constantly going down. The car has only done 22,000klms. I've had if back to Ford 3 times and on the 3rd time the seat was repl...Read more
aced. Ford have discounted the height lever being depressed when you get in and out of the vehicle. It cannot be done as was demonstrated to the service people, so therefore it has to be the design of the seat, right? The Ford Ranger had a similar problem but they have a replaceable base. Guess what? It still does it but only until it goes all the way down. I don't blame the service people because it's not their fault but when I get told that I'm the only person on the surface of this planet that this is happening to (after 2 seats), I steadfastly refuse to believe that I am the only one. My warranty runs out in March 2016 and I'd like to know if anybody else is suffering the same problem. I know Ford, as well as other manufacturers monitor these sites so I'd dearly love Ford to remedy this problem for me. EDIT: Since my last report and absolutely no response to my email by Ford whatsoever, I sent them another one and told them I have finally found the problem. They were HALF right. The height adjustment lever is situated as to give no leeway. I have found, the merest of weight on it from getting in and out of the vehicle, does indeed lower the seat over a period of time which makes their design WORSE than anything said about it. I have read reports about 2009 models doing it. I have devised a cheap and effective remedy and I have advised my Ford dealer that if they so desire, they can send a Ford Rep around and and I will sell them the rights to my invention, considering the fact that they have had years to fix their design fault and have not done so. Edit: I have had a seat replacement but that didn't work either. Have solved the problem of the seat going down with 2 cable ties, something Ford's engineers have been incapable of doing for years.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Unfixable transmission - stay away from auto!
As others have mentioned, there's a massive design flaw in the "auto" dual clutch transmission in fiesta and ford vehicles. There is no fix and they are unsafe. Currently dealing with ACCC to get full refund as Ford is mostly ignoring this global issue - class action already underway overseas!

Piece of crap
I to have had major issues with my Fiesta 2012.It has been back to the dealer 4 times in the last 18 months with shuddering, jerking and loss of power in the low gears. They have replaced the transmission, and 2 weeks ago the clutch assembly was replaced.I was told it will always have a slight shudder when first taking off.If I could afford it I would get rid of it ( the service guy nodded his head when I told him this ) and never buy another Ford again.Obviuosly they knew about these issues when I first enquired about buying one, and no spare tyre to boot another thing they ommited to tell me, stay away from the Ford Fiesta and the Focus.

Decent if flawed in some areas
Bought new in mid 2012. Only has 18,000km's on the clock.
Decent car for the money and has a decent list of standard features included but also has some glaring flaws.
Lacks reach adjustment for the steering wheel which the first german sourced model had. Makes it hard for taller driver to ever get a comfortable driving position.
Clutch is a pain in the rear end to use as it seems to have no real distinct pick up point (Bite) and has a mushy feel in its action though the clutch pedal. Most Manuals can become smooth and easy to drive ...Read more
after a few hours behind the wheel but over two years later it's still an issue. I'll be selling the car soon for this reason alone. Paint had some defects in it (Dirt inclusion) Still it's small and for the most part finish is ok.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Transmission Issues not fixed after 5 services
What's the point of having a trendy car with all the gadgets inside when you don't even have the confidence to accelerate. Taken it back to the dealer 5 times in a period of 2.5 years and still having this issue. Will never buy a Ford again.

Ford should be ashamed of themselves
A true lemon. It's not a case of what is wrong with it - rather what's right with it. The largest issue is the automatic transmission. I can't believe I brought a brand new car and received this piece of rubbish; it feels like I'm driving a clapped out old car. Ford (more specifically the Reef City Ford dealership in Gladstone, Aus.) have basically wiped their hands of it. Biggest regret.

Fantastic Car
I think this is a great car. I own a 2011 Ford Fiesta Zetec. Regarding transmission issues with the PowerShift, I too had plenty of issues with clutch shuddering (felt like the car was bunny hopping/stalling). However, Ford have noticed this issue and are offering a complimentary service program where they'll update the software on the transmission etc. Since then, my Fiesta is like a brand new car; the PowerShift is very responsive, with no shuddering. It's nippy, has plenty of power and looks great, especially with the Zetec model which is wh...Read more
at I own. On the inside, you're hugged with sport seats (Zetec model), given a whole range of options with the centre console, and an easy to navigate dashboard. You get Bluetooth which offers handsfree calling and music streaming, a USB port, AUX, CD Player and a radio standard. The cabin space is pretty good, given the compact size of the car, and you have a fair sized boot with fold down seats. Perfect for a single person or a young or retired couple, with a good amount of leg room for passengers. I just wish that there were auto headlights and more adjustments with the steering wheel (there's only a tilt option). Overall, I love my Ford Fiesta and I enjoy driving it everyday. It's good looking, has just enough power, and I feel very safe in it.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Nothing but transmission problems
Did you purchase a Ford Fiesta 2011+ Model?
We did. We have had nothing but problems with the transmission even after numerous returns to the service dept. It is intermittently have issues changing gears shuddering when accelerating from a standing position, with horrible grinding noises when changing gears, and the occasional loss of power when needing to accelerate quickly. The car now feels SO UNSAFE to drive we've decided to garage it and only use our second car (not a Ford).

Ford Fiesta 2011 Ztec WT Diesel
We purchased the car in 2012 with 10,000 K's on the clock and have now done 68,000 K's with only one break down (electrical covered under warranty), very reliable. The original brake pads still have 40% left. Our 45 Kg Labrador travels with us, as well as grand children at different times, and the interior still cleans up and looks new (nothing broken). Very economical over 700 K's on 36 Ltrs. Factory sports suspension is fun and safe to drive. I can definitely recommend this vehicle.

Great Car
Have had my LX Diesel Sedan for over three years now, no troubles what so ever, have driven from Brisbane to Canberra several times, wonderful economy, good mid speed acceleration and hill climbing. Seats supportive and comfortable and find the cruise control easy to use. Purchased a full size spare, tinted windows and got a bonnet protector.
Economy: 4.4l/100 on long trips. Easy to use 5 speed manual, mid speed power. Big boot.
Not a friendly to use radio/bluetooth/cd console. No spare.

Look great and very economical.
Bought a used 2012 WT Zetec Diesel manual and couldn't be happier. Very easy to drive, comfortable compared to our old Getz, great handling, easy to use cruise control, quiet drive (the WT is quieter than WS), audio streaming from phone and the sound from the stereo itself. We average 5.5lt/100km around the city. Heard about the bent rims from pot holes on the WS fiesta but the WT has different rims which doesn't seem to be affected by this issue.
Negatives are the no spare wheel though i will get one from a wrecker. Boot space could be bigge...Read more

Clutch Problems - Ford Fiesta
Brought new Fiesta in 2011 and have had ongoing problems with the clutch. When reversing, the clutch does not always engage and I end up burning metal accompanied by a loud sound. Very annoying and embrassing. Have been an owner of many cars and this has never happened to me before. Have gone back to dealer several times and directly contacted Ford Australia, who investigated and told me that it was a normal function and characteristic of the car. Seriously? Had I known this was an inherent design or flaw of the car, would never have purchased.
Good fuel consumption and body style

in. the clutch was brutal but it did settle in or I got used to it. I've been driving manuals for 42 years and clutches don't have characteristics where they do stupid things. well not normally. any component can malfunction as vw found out with their dsg transmissions. ford has had the same problem with theirs. if you've got a clutch problem from new and if it's under warranty take it back and tell them you're going to sit there and sleep there and they can feed u until it's fixed. even if it's out of warranty it's still implied if u complained about it 2 years ago. don't get me wrong but no dealer and I mean no dealer has the right to fob off a legitimate customer complaint. I hope this helps u mate and I would really like a reply if u get your situation resolved. u might b able to help me one day.Hi - My 2012 Fiesta LX has been a nightmare for 2 years - it's been back to the dealer 6 times and they have finally replaced both clutches because replacing a leaking transmission seal (from a faulty... Great idea, poorly executed
I bought one of these brand new in 2011. What followed was the worst ownership experience I will likely ever have.
The car started off okay. It drove well, handled like a go kart, was easy on fuel, cabin was a nice place to be, it could fit in just about any parking space, visibility was great, and for such a small car felt pretty solid on the highway.
However, the dual clutch auto transmission malfunctioned many times, leading to more than 10 visits to dealers. It was never repaired, or so much as inspected. At one stage it started slipp...Read more
ing every time it entered 2nd and 4th gears, and stalled on me a few times in heavy traffic (one time I was left suddenly stranded in an intersection in front of a truck). It was dangerous to drive. The interior had also started falling to bits, panels were starting to come loose and rattle, the carpet in the driver's footwell and came apart, too many rattles to count. The biggest pain however was not the car, it was Ford's warranty service. What an absolute joke. They did nothing for me. The few times Essendon and Bayford Ford (Vic) actually attempted to fix something they broke other things, made the problem worse, and left my car covered in mess, after leaving me without my car for up to a week at a time. Ford Customer Service are a complete joke. If you have a problem with a Ford, don't waste your time calling them, they cannot help you. The dealer staff were largely indifferent, cowboys who openly didn't give a stuff or simply had no idea how to fix issues such as that with the transmission. I had to fight to borrow a loan car from one of the dealers so I could continue to get to work while they sat on my car and went about not fixing anything.Similar opinion? No spare wheel is a safety issue
While I like our new Fiesta, where we bought it from in Mt Barker, SA, we were not told that it did not have a spare wheel. We only found out when we got a puncture out in the country, out of mobile phone range. It is a good car about from that, and the lights. With the internal dashboard light coming on when you start up, at night it gives you the impression that your main lights are on.
A nice drive
The lack of a spare wheel, and not being told about it. The dashboards lights being on when the main lights are not. The switch is on the dashboard instead of the steering wheel.

Love my Fabulous Fiesta (named Florence)
Wanted to trade Holden Astra hatch manual for an automatic and I am so glad I chose Fiesta CL. Beautiful sleek design (I chose arctic white with tinted windows). Love interior layout, Bluetooth, easy touch controls on steering wheel: volume, accepting phone calls hands free of course, changing tracks on cd, etc. Love little things like intermittent wiper speed can be changed, indicator can be lightly tapped to flash three times then stop, home safe headlights - flick of control will allow headlights to stay on for up to three minutes.

Great little car
Bought this WT LX diesel sedan fiesta brand new from ford dealers in Brisbane. Best investment ever in terms of fuel wise. I've only ever purchased fords from my first 1989 ford laser car to my car now. A few downsides to it is. No spare tyre just some gum in the can and air compressor so first thing was I went to the wreakers and purchased a full spare tyre. . I average about 3 - 6L /100kms on the diesel on city and hwy driving so no complaints there. Diesel has great take off speeds. Love the cruise control and blue tooth feature which was really handy and shoe compartment for me? might be for the missus. Cigarette plug does not turn off when your keys are out of the ignition so a warning to all GPS or in car dash camera in the cars out there it will remain on 24/7 untill you physically unplug it from the car socket. Rear windows does not wind all the way down I didn't like that but I rarely sit at the back. I had a tow bar install on the car so I can do small trips from bunnings back and it towed ok with a small box trailer although the rear suspension doesn't like it but the diesel was strong in terms of toqure and take off with a load at the back.Thats about it for the car now on to Ford Service centers are a joke, they offer 3000km complimentary service which I took up I came in with 4 tyres came out with 3 they said I had a tyre slash on one of the tyres I told them I didn't want to buy a $300 continential tyre from them just put my spare tyre on (lucky right?) and didn't bother with them after that. From that point I had my car serviced by friends service workshop with log book stamp. Im not taking chances with ford service ever again. FYI found out ford capped price service is only capped for that year once its next year it will be adjusted. Reliable, doesn't use much fuel at all No spare tyre. Service centers are a joke. Purchased s/hand Fiesta, beforehand thanks to websites and reviews like these I found out it had no spare wheel/tyre. Hi, I am looking at a 2010 auto LX that has done 160k as a first car for my son. Looks in great condition, but I am seeing from the above reviews that the auto models seem to have problems. Do I now discount this from the list? Thanks.

160k is getting up there, I'd be search for something around 100k and not ford if it doesnt have a conventional automatic transmission.
Thank you. I have been looking for weeks now looking at holden barina, astra, ford focus, fiesta.... Agghhhhhh
I'd be including japanese cars in that list like yaris, swift, jazz, mazda 2 and so on.

I am buying an econetic on saturday. It is 2011 model, with 200+ km on the clock. ls there anything i need to be aware of, other than maybe the diesel particulate filter problems?
2 answers
If the kilometres were done on the highway the 200+ is probably OK. Manual gearbox would be better than 6 speed dual clutch auto. Diesels like long runs, not a city commuter environment. Be wary if it's a private sale re future problems although I think Dealer warranty does not apply to 100+ 2nd hand vehicles.
Thanks Stevo. It is a manual transmission, and the km were mostly done on highway. I have searched and searched, but can't seem to find any info about things going wrong with these cars, other than the DPF and the dry transmission they had in the auto's. Hopefully it's as reliable as all the reviews seem to think...
