2.5 years and 80,000km. Love it
Ranger PX.II / PX.III 4x4 3.2L Turbo Diesel XLS (2015-2022)Purchased the vehicle new in November 2017. It is an XLS 4x4 auto dual cab. I was originally going to buy a D-max however was offered a deal too good to pass up. I purchased it from Pakenham ford in Victoria and have it serviced there as well and find them to be extremely friendly and helpful. I drive 5-6 days a week to and from work, approximately 100-160km a day in a mixture of freeway and peak hour traffic. And I take it through fairly mild tracks through the Victorian high country about 4-6 times a year. I think it’s a pretty comfortable ca
... Read morer, plenty of space, enough safety and 4x4 tech to get amateurs like me to places i wouldn’t normally venture. I haven’t had a single issue with the ute, it sits fairly consistently around 9-10l per 100km, it typically has around 200-300kg of gear in the tub as well, however I drive it fairly sedately. Thus far it’s been reliable and I love it, will it last 300,000km? I have no idea. Would I buy another one? I would definitely short list another ranger, especially with them now having a 5 year/unlimited km warranty.Great work vehicle.
Ranger PX.II / PX.III 4x4 3.2L Turbo Diesel XL (2015-2022)I have a 2016 px2 xl single cab 3.2, 4x4 6sp manual as a company supplied work vehicle since new and now ar 123000kms in just on 3 years. Previously I had 2007 ranger xlt4x4. As a heavy diesel tech I carry my tools with me every where. Absolutely twice the truck my old 07 was and far more capable off road with the bigger wheel track. For base model it is specced well above my old xlt and has everything I cold want in a work vehicle. It is also my after hours transport as it is extremely comfortable to drive. Extras added for the role are two

This thing is heavy, 3300kgs minimum 100% of the time and up to 3500kg when transporting oils and parts etc to job site's that include farms, quarrys, river beds and any other place machine decide to break down. This thing has never seen use at its empty weight. Regularly tow a trailer also when transporting heavy machine components to workshop seeing a gross weight of 6 tons. Ispend a great deal of time off road but can have days in excess of 400-500 kms road use. Fitted an upgrade chip at around 60000kms which is Bluetoothed to my phone for adjusting chip power setting if desired but it stays permanently in spot plus mode. This chip has made the very derated and lazy engine the beast it should have been for its size. Performance even at 3300kgs operating weight is amazing with only very occasionally requiring a shift down to 5th on some of our New Zealand mountainous roads. Passing is effortless and usually has speeds of 120-140kph at end of overtake manuvers. Fuel economy has improved greatly along with huge power increase. Long trips I usually see 9.1 to 10.5 kms per litre as opposed to 7.5-8.0 with chip turned off. Add a trailer with up to 2 ton and the vehicle hardly flinches with that 5 cylinder thumping away upfront, obviously fuel figures drop but only around .5 - 1 km/litre. I adore the rear locking diff for my off road sites as it gives me a true 4wd as opposed to the old ranger giving you only 2 wheels driving if I find the terrain a little soft ie river beds, farms etc. Personally can't fault the vehicle in its role or as a personal driver. Although the weight does make itself known on down hills and cornering but with the rear spring pack upgrades the vehicle sits very flat when cornering at speed and I frequently find myself sitting behind cars on the highways due to most car drivers not confident with their corning speeds. All servicing and maintenance is done by myself so as to ensure confidence for myself when we'll out of cell coverage for large parts of the day. I spanner it and I know exactly the condition of every component under and in it. Sorry for the long story but just a point of view from someone that uses and drives the ranger in a more demanding role.Sold as quiet but makes noise after 4k replaced trans same again
Ranger PX.II / PX.III 4x4 2.0L Bi-Turbo Diesel Wildtrak (2015-2022)I bought the 2.0 bi-turbo Wildtrak as sold as quiet smooth etc after owning a Amarok. After 3-4k it started to make a horrible vibration like noise. After it's 15k service the transmission was replaced. A further 3k and the noise is back again. This time Ford's response is "Oh it's a commercial vehicle and that noise is acceptable." Even though prior salesman and service supervisor agreed it wasn't right and after all we sell this vehicle as being quiet and comfortable and fit for purpose of driving like a sedan to being a basic laborers hack depending on the model you buy.

Ranger PX.II / PX.III 4x4 3.2L Turbo Diesel Wildtrak (2015-2022)Had a colorado previously lease was up looked at all reviews on YouTube ranger was The winner most of the time . So I got one .
Very car like suspension to soft to dangerous when loaded and very dangerous when towing 3.5 ton it's like you in a boat. It's like a bodybuilder on steroids ford ranger . In 45 degree heat day it's like the car starts to buckle opening doors making noise. To get car up to good tow stability you have to spend thousands why . I miss my Hercules colorado.

Ranger PX.II / PX.III 4x4 3.2L Turbo Diesel Wildtrak (2015-2022)***** I retract everything written below. Car failed 2 transmissions and replaced by Ford as a lemon.
See my other review on this product*******
I previously had a 2016 model Ford Ranger Wildtrak with 3.2L 6 speed transmission. Whilst I was very happy with it for the 3 years it did get a few electronics gremlins.
So I traded it in for the 2022 bi turbo 2L with 10 speed auto Wildtrak.
At first I had doubts about the small 4 cylinder but they were quickly dispelled. It out performs the old 3.2L by a country mile...much more responsive engine and so much quieter. The real difference is noticeable when towing. The 2L bie turbo simply out performs the 3.2 in all aspects. Gear ratios perfect.

Ranger PX.II / PX.III 4x4 3.2L Turbo Diesel XLT (2015-2022)Bought a 2018 demo XLT Supercab in September 2022, 7400kms on the clock, use the car regularly but have a work vehicle for the daily commute. Very happy with it, getting around 8.4l/100km combined, not towing anything yet. Very comfortable and great drive, have the usual complaints like interior components mark and scratch too easily and the paint is very easily scratched. Ranger PX.II / PX.III 4x4 2.0L Bi-Turbo Diesel Wildtrak (2015-2022)Daily commute to cbd weekends and to farm. Had hilux previous but the ranger rides so much better off road on corrugated roads. It is more comfortable interior and feels like a car. Adaptive cruise is amazing, use it everywhere, though lane assist is stupid and never use that. Got the wildtrak, pricey but love it so far.

Ranger PX.II / PX.III 4x4 3.2L Turbo Diesel Wildtrak (2015-2022)I have just purchased the Ford Wildtrac after owning Holden utes, and this is a nice Ute to drive on or off road. I have towed a mini excavator to site and it has a lot of grunt. This would match if not exceed my Holdens performance.

Ranger PX.II / PX.III 4x4 2.0L Bi-Turbo Diesel Wildtrak (2015-2022)First of all let me say I’m coming from a 200 Series into a Wildtrak Ranger. Now the Wildtrak is no 200 Series, but it’s still a great car. Normally I would not go for something that is new on the market, it after doing some research I’ve found the 2.0 10 Speed to have the best value for money of all the other utes I looked at. The adaptive cruise and collision avoidance technology is brilliant. The car drives well and is pretty responsive around the city. Country and highway driving is exceptionally good, especially when using the cruise

We also have a 3 tonne caravan which we've towed as far up as Port Douglas and we average 2 to 3 trips a year. Ranger PX.II / PX.III 4x4 3.2L Turbo Diesel XLT (2015-2022)I was given this car as a company car and I love it, the first time I drove it in the wet it was frightening! Tyres are horrendous in the wet and are useless offroad. I have had 2 flats in 2 years and I have only had 2 previous flats in 24 previous years of driving. Ford and Mazda know these tyres are not acceptable to most owners and still haven't done anything about it. These Grandtrek AT22 tyres are made in Thailand and that is the problem, the Japanese made tyres are fine.

DISASTER DISASTER DISASTER
Ranger PX.II / PX.III 4x4 3.2L Turbo Diesel XLT (2015-2022)Engine and turbo blew while driving on major highway - car had 50,000 km and under 2 years old - had it towed to Goulburn Ford who are clearly not interested in any level of customer service - don't return calls or emails and are happy to sell their soul for their mother company. Ford deny warranty and at our own cost we have had engine rebuilt to diagnose root cause of engine failure - faulty fuel injector. This car held so many dreams for us and it has turned into a nightmare that has set us back tens of thousands of dollars and virtually crippled us financially. NEVER EVER BUY A FORD!

I've been told many excuses from that just how they all are for the gearbox but we have reported to ford as there is no solution at this time. Our local dealer couldn’t beat the Melbourne dealers price, so my review of the ranger definitely includes my advice to COMPARE dealers! The vehicle itself isn’t as nice inside as the Nissan Navara we tested but you can’t compete with how powerful and elevated the ranger is. It’s strong, and fierce and hasn’t missed a beat. Ranger PX.II / PX.III 4x4 3.2L Turbo Diesel XLT (2015-2022)After a lot of research I purchased a new Ford Ranger XLT Supercab with Tech Pack in 2016. In my opinion it was the best equipped ute in its class and (again my opinion) by far the best looking. 2 years on I still love the vehicle. It has been 100% reliable with absolutely no mechanical or electrical issues so far. However I am extremely disappointed with two things in particular. Firstly the paint. I paid extra for premium paint and on close inspection you can definitely see the "orange peel" which I feel is poor for a close to $60,000 car. Al
... Read moreso the paint appears to be ultra thin. It scratches and chips far too easily. Secondly the panels are almost as thin as the paint. Even when washing you need to be very careful to not exert too much force as even a relatively light touch is enough to push a panel in and as I unfortunately found out, it doesn't always pop back out. All in all, a fantastic vehicle with some very disappointing flaws.Ranger wind noise
Ranger PX.II / PX.III 4x4 3.2L Turbo Diesel Wildtrak (2015-2022)Its very comfortable, good visibility, fits four comfortably, safety features are top rate as is the dash technology. Plenty of power and a good ride over rough terrain.
But It’s thirsty, hard to park in small spaces and the wind noise in the cab is a design fault I assume. I have taken it back twice to rectify but with no success. At present I am taping up the drivers door frame to try and find the fault.

Very Poor Auto Transmission
Ranger PX.II / PX.III 4x4 3.2L Turbo Diesel XL (2015-2022)Biggest issue with the vehicle is the automatic transmission, it is the worst I have ever driven by far and I have owned Automatics from a 1967 Fairlane to many others through the years, I am also a trade qualified motor mechanic and worked in the industry for 10 years. The first 3 gears tend to change to early (at low revs) especially the shift between 2 and 3, then you have to put your foot down to keep moving because the engine is lugging, then the engine revs flare like it is slipping a clutch or the converter. This problem didn't exist when I picked it up but was very evident at 3,000 km. Have taken it back to the dealer and they tell me they are all like that, it is "normal" which I find hard to believe.
