IKEA Evedal floor lamp is a gorgeous designer item
I love mid-century, Scandinavian, minimalist designs. Just bought and set up this Evedal floor lamp. It is not your average or typical IKEA light. This floor lamp sells for AUD249, a hundred dollars more expensive than the next most expensive lamp in IKEA. It is a real designer item and everything about it screams design and style.
Lamp shade is made of two layers of glass or two glass domes - mouth-blown smoke colour outer dome and a separate white opaque dome underneath with champagne / brass plate on top and bottom and a matching pull swit...Read more
ch on a black string. The column / tube is solid oak and the base is black marble. Yep, that's right black marble, around 20kg marble. making the unit very heavy and therefore stable and I absolutely love that. The combination of materials - glass, wood, brass, shape of the domes, switching mechanism, are all wonderful. Even the packaging is fantastic, with Evedal etched on the giant egg carton inside that protects the domes. Putting together is dead easy and I guess because it is actually a modern design, it is well suited for LED light bulbs. I have a TP-Link LB130 Smart Wi-Fi Multicolour LED Bulb (https://www.tp-link.com/au/home-networking/smart-bulb/lb130/) inside. It is very tall and not many enclosed lamps or designer lamps can accomodate it. Not a problem for this Evedal floor lamp, and won't be a problem for the table lamp variant because it has the same glass dome. The enclosure is big and because of the white opaque dome inside, light is evenly spread and you won't be able to discern where the glowing top area is, like you would with normal lamp shades. Instead, it is just totally even! Love it. With this marriage between the Evedal lamp and the TP Link LB130 LED bulb now I have a light that I can change brightness and set it to any colour I want - yellow, orange, green, blue, purple, violet, you name it or by kelvin temperature. And I do this via Google Home Mini using voice control. Perfect! Here is my review of the TP-Link LB130 Smart WiFi Multicolour Bulb: /reviews/ead7a53c-f015-4b79-9f58-3c2b3997b241 If anything, I wonder how this lamp would look like with a black / walnut / mahogany / ebony timber column or a thinner powder coated black metal tube. I wonder if that would add a degree of sophistication and elegance. Anyway, the oak colour is just fine because it matches well with our Blackbutt timber floor. The cord could have come through the marble base rather than 1.5" above the marble base coming out of the side of the column. But the brass base and cable collar are great touches and screams complete product in every way. The base does have some kind of velvet feel to it but I added some surface protectors to keep it from possibly scratching the floor and made it easier to slide on the floor if I need to move it. After all, I just set it up. I might tinker with positioning.Purchased in April 2021 at IKEA VIC, Springvale for A$249.00.

Is there the purple color I saw a few days ago in Thessaloniki store ?

Hi Stavi, not aware Evdal comes in different colour. Best to call IKEA to confirm that option and stock as this is a much sought after item. I waited for months for mine and it is currently unavailable in both stores in the city where I live.
As stated in my review (/reviews/277a9504-adda-4767-928b-d7fe6fb4c35b), I use a multi colour light bulb integrated with Google Home such that I can set colour of my light to whichever colour I'd like, including purple, with verbal command. You can do the same using Amazon Alexa or with app for TPLink and I am sure other products exist with similar capabilities. As stated in my review, one of the best thing about the Evedal is that its glass dome is pretty tall inside hence most light bulb would fit. Also the white inner dome is very evenly frosted hence colour and light come out very evenly.
