Seatbelts Crap
Seatbelts lock when you lean forward, pick something up from the floor or go to adjust the mirror. Isuzu says it's a safety feature but as an end user I say safety issue. You have to stop and undo the belt and let it retract right back before putting it back on and its illegal to stop on a motorway. IDIOTS!!!!! Had other issues but can dealt with those as things that just happen!

No.2 SX D/C
Bought first D-Max in 2012 .2WD 4 speed auto and was amazed at its performance and economy. In Dec 2015 traded this in [with 100,000km and full service history] on a new one which was an updated version with a 5 speed auto.I'm from Mildura and was only offered a pittance for my trade in so ended up buying from Jarvis Isuzu in Tanunda SA saving over $5000.As it is a double cab and i wanted a canopy I shopped around and ARB canopies in Mildura,Swan Hill,Bendigo and Keilor were all in the $3200 range. Luckily I found a 4 wheel drive accessory outl...Read more

Car warranty
Tried to claim a fault in vehicle but have been denied due to a warranty that is formed to suit company not consumer. Treated like I was lying about cause of damage and then when i requested to talk to actual people who make warranty decisions at Isuzu was advised those that make decisions won't talk to you.

Who invented this self locking idiocy?
Nearly as good as a HiLux. The key is an absolute pain. The car self locks if I stop to, say, answer a phone call or look at a view. Don't put the key in your pocket or put it on the key rack, it will lock!! A pain. Is there any way to disable this auto lock activity?
Hardest ride of any 4WD that I've ever ridden in. Consumption goes through the roof if you tow anything.
But in 8 years I've not had any major mechanical costs, other than grill trim falling off.

Comfortable and economical
My Dmax drives like a car and is very economical even towing the caravan around Tasmania it pulls up the hills effortlessly giving me 10.9L/100km. The only dislike is the console is too small, there are 2 glove compartments which are also too small and a lack of storage space

Love my D-Max ❤️
Best vehicle I’ve ever driven.
Very reliable.
Only 3 little problems..
1. The air con switch only can work on the fullest ( broke after a year of buying my DMax new )
2. The deep blue paintwork has faded to almost white on the roof and the bonnet ( never undercover will do that )
3. I wouldn’t mind if I could raise the drivers seat a little, better view out the windscreen
Apart from that. it’s perfect

Love my D-Max ❤️ Most reliable Ute I’ve ever bought. Paintwork is fading bad but after 6 years parked outside on road what do I expect . Great reliable car wish drivers seat could be raised, I’m 5.6” but have to sit on a cushion to see out the windscreen betterSimilar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

A great addition
Having owned this now for 6 weeks I think the ISUZU is fantastic.
The vehicle is a light truck after all and it has a robustness when on the road.
The ride is comfortable, I would be the first to complain, since we test drove several other Utes this has to be the one with the most support in the seats, front and rear.
Fuel economy is pretty good, although I haven't taken it on a long journey yet, that's to come, but 'around town' driving ie to and from work it is better fuel than I was getting from my old Mitsi Paj.
There is great storage i...Read more

Love the freedom, strength and reliability our DMax gives us!
The DMax handles well, is comfortable and practical. We find it pulls our 18 foot caravan effortlessly. It is stylish and quiet . The interior is rather basic without too many bells and whistles and the back seat is not real comfortable for long trips but it's practical easy to clean and the front seats are comfortable . The tray transports all our bits and pieces and is easy to clean. Ours has a vinyl cover which is good but at some point we would like to get a canopy. There are Isuzu dealers most places so it is easy to get services and spare parts!

Dmax will become a legend
After almost 30,000kms and two years of ownership, I have been extremely happy with the performance of my 2015 LS-M D-Max (auto). If you are after a no non-sense 4wd to enjoy the outdoors and tow, this vehicle will suit your needs. There are flashier utes on the market, however you pay a premium for that (without the same reliability).
Value for money the d-max is a great option, especially if you are intending to own the vehicle for a while. In my opinion if you are going to lease the vehicle for a couple years, there are better vehicles o...Read more
ut there. However if you are after something reliable without the fancy badge and price to suit, the d-max is perfect. It's a legend in the making. Performance in the bush is good with the traction control system but as with all IFS utes, they're no patrol or land cruiser 70. Treat the vehicle right and it'll get you into the high-country and back no worries. The D-max also tows well with modest torque on tap. In terms of problems I have had, the cab brake light seal leaked water which was fixed under warranty. Other than that, services through my local mechanic are cheap and the 5 year warranty and road side assistance is piece of mind. I would recommend this vehicle, however it will not suit everyone.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

2017 Auto Trans problems.
When towing 2,700 kilo caravan on level ground,(after 1100 km run in period no load), 6 speed auto either travels in 4th gear at approx 26-2800 revs, or drops into 6th to around 1600 revs. Moves between 4th and 6th gears without staying in 5th. Using manual shift, will not stay in 5th but goes into 6th which is too high for it, so changes back to 4th. Traveling on the plains using manual mode causes gearbox overheating light to come on. Service Plus Driving report gives grade of 44 out of 100, trying to put blame on driver. I chose auto over...Read more
manual on advice from dealer, as auto supposed to know best gear selection. It would appear that auto gearbox not capable of supporting manufacturer's claims of ability to tow 3,500 kg. This was stated by Service Manager. Using almost twice the fuel when towing. Not Happy, Jan. Response please from Isuzu Australia.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Super happy
Little more noisy than other vehicles but fuel economy is terrific compared to my Kluger. Great storage - although cup holders are way too small for most water/drink bottles. great to park, super comfortable to drive. tows 2T no problem. I would definitely buy another if they sort out cup holder issue.

Absolutely brilliant. Love my D-Max. Towing & 4WD
I've owned a Toyota Hi-Lux & a Mitsubishi Triton - I can't say anything bad about either of them as both were great, but different in their own ways. But the D-Max has blown me away. Economy, power, feel, & reliability (this engine also has S/Steel timing chain), & I pull a 20ft caravan. Thinking capability off-road 4WD; OH YES! It's so easy to drive both on bitumen & off road. This is the only vehicle my wife has driven on its own AND also towing our van. Perhaps not just me thinking it is OK.

165000 klms in four years and going strong
The Dmax does everything i ask her to do every time. I tow a 21.5ft caravan and you can't feel it. Fuel consumption is fantastic compared to its Peers and for a ute its a comfortable drive. The long range tank i had put in makes touring more of a pleasure.

Good solid Truck
Built for work
Gets the job done
Good value for money [in NZ]
Handles fine for normal driving speeds
I'm a fisherman and my Isuzu is used for everything for towing heavy loads to family outings, always around the sea it seems to resist corrosion ok.
I think they are a good all round Truck.
They do all tasks well .

Dont buy a D max

ill in our local area, we could not get towed or our crapp dmax put on a tilt tray, we had to take to dealership ourselves,1 week later we picked up our ute,, our ute has had other problems, vibration in front end, was blamed all on the brand new Mickey thompson tyres we had fitted,, has small rust spots already, just over 12mths old, clutch is a problem, yes we have a 5 speed manual, only done 10,000klms now,, most people say new clutch around 30,000 klms,,,Isuzu told us its because we tow heavy loads or we use the clutch wrong,,strange thing is we have only ever towed a small trailer with fishing kayak and some gear in it,other strange remark about bad clutch usage from Isuzu is, I am a truck driver and our trucks are sold at 800 thousand klms and never in 30 years of driving,,, have i ever had clutch problems, the problems are Isuzu and the after sales service,, but I am not the first to state that fact,,on the bright side we pick up our new v8 dual cab landcruiser ute next week,Similar opinion? Isuzu Dmax tray back ute
I have found the Dmax to be very user friendly, it handles very well, is quieter than other Utes I've driven. What a great performer, with more than enough power to get the job done, while being very economical. It has a very user friendly clutch, with hill assist.
I'm currently achieving just under 7-1 ltrs / 100 ks combined, which is the best economy of any ute I've owned. Servicing at 10,000 ks intervals. The engines emissions are very low.
plenty of legroom, a number of storage pockets throughout the cabin. Easy accessible cup holders f...Read more

Love the Ute, hate the service cost
Fuel economy good, seats comfortable- I can drive 4 hours to a job, get out work and drive home, crook back still OK. AC is great, window washer bottle big, lights good enough. Carries a load well, indeed better with 200-300kg in the back- suspension is truck like but one cannot have real work horse that drives like a rear coil spring show pony (Navara is proof). My vehicle is the basic Extra cab so trim is rudimentary, radio is good, hands free is great, clear and good microphone reception even on the freeway- the phone service provider is the...Read more
weak link there. Hate the fact that the car beeps when the keys are in the ignition so one cannot listen to the radio while working near the vehicle, beep bloody beep! Worst thing is the service requirement. The Warranty and Service book says one thing (3000, 10 000, 60 000, 70 000km etc), the dealer (and Isuzu) say every 10 000kms, I am told that I have to take it in for a service at 10 000 for diff oil ($ 20 per litre), 20 000 for engine oil ($ 20 per litre), 30 000 for ? "Inspected Right/ Left Turn Radius", "Shift on the Fly system gear oil"? (Actually it is a 2WD so there isn't one but they did check it at 20 000 km). I would definitely buy another but the fact that they treat the customer like a Muppet is irritating. I called Isuzu, they were polite but said my Warranty Service Book was a misprint and I need to take it to a dealer for replacement- everything else is good. It is not. Oil is too dear, service interval too close and the number of crap things that they supposedly check is wrong. I am glad I am not a non-mechanical person- they would just get skinned and not know that they are being done like a dinner- at least I can whinge about it. I would like variable wiper and climate control but not worth the big price jump, the tyres are a hard compound and on country roads are a little skittish at speed and in particular in the wet, but seem to hang on despite feeling a little light, aqua-planing on the Hume is common but that is as much the puddles as the compound. On balance happy enough, like I said I would buy another but to get a receptive response from Isuzu Ute would be better than "computer says no!"Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Excellent fitness for purpose- superb built quality
Very happy with my D-Max LSU after trading a 2012 HILUX SR5 dual cab with low kms. I need this car for towing a large boat but also have a small farm and go off road occasionally. I test drove other options such as new HILUX and Ranger but not as good a package for my needs. D-Max not as much bling as other options but I am not buying for bling! What you get with D-Max is quality, toughness, towing ability and reliability. Both my new LSU and SR5 are twin cab, have steel bull bar, driving lights, tow bar, reversing camera, electric brakes, tub ...Read more
liner, rubber mats, Water Watch (don't go bush without one). I used the SR5 and new LSU to tow a 2.3 tonne boat. The SR5 was a very good ute. I have always been a Toyota person. SR5 rugged, reliable and very good tow vehicle. Performance almost as good as new D-Max due to a DP chip (DP Chip excellent - more power, torque and better fuel economy). Also SR5 had sat nav with speed zones that LSU does not - why not is surprising. D-Max also does not have a digital speedo that I find annoying for a 2017 vehicle. I put a Navman GPS camera on SR5 that has GPS speed - works well. Transfered to LSU. I have also installed a GARMIN GPS on D-Max to give me digital speed and speed zones. Had my D-Max rust proofed underneath with Septone for underbody and Tectyl 506 for springs etc (due to backing boat into salt water to launch). Also added Isuzu rear parking sensors for car parks (they should be standard on LS-U). My D-Max has ARB steel winch bar and ARB LED bar light. The only sour note on the purchase was dealing with ARB even though they have good products, although ARB LED bar light was faulty and needed replacing. While I am disappointed in ARB, I will not let this affect my delight with the Isuzu D-Max and excellent service from Ron Doyle Motors, the Isuzu dealer. So why did I change my SR5 for a D-Max LSU? 1. Great friendly service from Isuzu dealer at Ron Doyle Motors Eden NSW! Nothing too much trouble to get my new D-Max properly set up for towing and my needs. Superb attention to detail. Excellent and professional after sales support and servicing - a delight to deal with. 2. D-Max very good value for money and best fitness for purpose. 3. D-Max has 3.5 tonne towing. That was the deal breaker. SR5 was 2.5 tonne. For my towing weight I wanted a safety margin. 4. The new 6 speed auto and increased torque in 2017 model.Similar opinion?
