Rubber on scroll wheel perishes
The rubber ring around the scroll wheel perishes after a years use. It becomes sticky on the surface and you cannot scroll anymore. Cant clean it so mouse is useless.

Last Microsoft Mouse I will ever buy
I bought 3 of these mice and all failed the same way after 3 months of use.
Out of the box, the mouse is fantastic. But over time the rubber ring on the outside of the scroll wheel becomes unstuck and moves around jamming the wheel. The rubber ring looks to be held on by "self-adhesive" type material.
How anyone designing the mouse thought it would last, and how it passed product testing, is a mystery to me.

Good Mouse With a Fatal Flaw
When I first got this I thought it was the best mouse I'd ever used.
Comfort is in the hand of the holder, but this one suited me.
The blue laser was dead accurate, and the mouse could be used on the desktop with no pad required.
Not everybody likes the clickless scroll wheel MS favours but I didn't mind it, except it was a bit oversensitive and on some occasions you'd inadvertently find yourself going back to a previous page.
Unfortunately, the mouse had a fatal flaw. After a few months the scroll wheel became harder and harder to turn.

Read moreAfter it had become so hard as to cause me finger pain, I tried lubricating the wheel, but this provided only temporary relief. Some research on the internet indicated the problem was with the rubber "tyre" on the scroll wheel, which perishes and drops small particles of rubber into the interior, clogging it up. So I took to it with a razor, hoping to shave enough rubber off to make it spin freely again. Unfortunately I ended up cutting right through it, which did fix the spinning problem, but made the wheel too uncomfortable to use. I took it back to the retailer, who refused to repair or replace the item, so I will be buying my electronics online from now on. I'm waiting to hear back from Microsoft as to whether they will honour the warranty. It;s a problem that has affected Microsoft mice for a long time, and they should have fixed it before now. If you don't do a lot of scrolling the problem may not affect you, and you should definitely consider this mouse. Great while it lasted Lasted less than 6 months
