Smeg stovetop won't stay alight

We have had this stove top for about a year and have nothing but trouble, it is difficult to light and often goes out during cooking times. Smeg have been back and have replaced it twice but the problem persists. We have checked the gas etc and all other appliances to the house work. So I am sure it is the cook top.
Great surface area
Keeps going out and stainless scratches easily
