Excelent value for money
The Sony BDP-S6700 purchased from Amazon was delivered promptly and in good condition, but coming out from the box seemed very small and fragile due to the plastic build and light weight.
The front of the unit has just two push buttons, power and eject, and an USB port, but no display. The back sockets include Ethernet, HDMI and coaxial digital.
I have tried the Sony BDP-S6700 capabilities using Blu-rays, DVDs CDs, memory stick with MP3 music files and video streaming. The unit was connected (HDMI) to an HD TV and through Bluetooth to a sound...Read more

Ok, but not much else...
... this will do being wifi connected. If you want an app to access Prime TV through it, forget it. It's not supported. It streams other apps well eg netflix, catch up tv etc. But just get annoyed I can't get the apps that I want.
If these manufacturers have deals with only one subscription service eg Netflix, they are going to bomb out big time.
Purchased in November 2021.

Fabulous quality streaming and great audio
This unit has a lot of features for the price and seems to have had a recent price drop with some retailers.
The LDAP high resolution audio is amazing if your bluetooth device supports it
Streaming of Netflix and you tube is much smoother than any other solutions i've seen.
And most importantly full surround sound audio is available with netflix programs that provide it.
This is primarily why i bought this device
Another bonus is super audio cd's are supported which i have.

Almost perfect
Coming from a string of Bluray failures over the past 6 or 7 years, this unit is far superior than the previous Samsung and Panasonic players i have had. This Sony unit is a stand alone item (not home theatre) and for $158, pairing it with a quality sound bar was good enough for my needs. Plays Bluray discs well and loads fast. Works well with my Sony TV and the Bluray remote also does the volume for my LG Soundbar.
It has a Netflix button and is very easy to use.
Only two minor issues for me. There is no display on the front, I thought t...Read more
his to be quite unusual, but there is a display button to show all you need on the screen anyway. Probably a bigger issue for me, a dvd will remember where you left off, but if watching from a flash drive it doesn't. This means i need to fast forward to where i left off next time i watch. My previous player had an interface which would show recent files watched and could resume. The fast forward could do with being a little faster at it's top speed. Still, despite this, at $158 I can live with it.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!
Don't waste your money
This DVD is the most useless system and I have always been a Sony fan but never again. I always have to unplug and perform a factory reset before the machine will respond to the remote control and although it does connect to your wireless network so you can watch Netflix after the a few days the connection fails and nothing you do will reconnect it. A day or two later and it reconnects itself without any issues. This is very annoying when you are wanting to watch something but it won't respond.

It's doesn't have optical out which is a shame. Very little remote.

Good product, however I was wrongly led to believe it was a multi region player.
Whilst the player works satisfactorily on Region 4 DVD discs, it will not play DVD discs from the UK, of which I have many.
Contrast this with Panasonic, who will unlock Region 4 locked players free of charge. Sony will not do this.
This policy has everything to do with maximising profits for the studios.
Consumers would seem to be of little concern to Sony. This really should be unlawful corporate conduct.
I have resolved to never buy another Sony product again.

Won't play sound on fast n furious 7 blu ray disc
Bout this from applianceonline was not clearly noted that it only plays blu rays and not uhd blu rays.
Won't play sound on fast n furious 7 blu ray disc, I also tried a second copy still the same, but works ok with other blu ray disc.
Over all works ok but not the best player as I found the software little glitchy.

Excellent Product
Great features and great value for money - from JB Hi-Fi.
Love the size and simplicity of this bluRay DVD player. We had an issue with the disc drawer opening on the product but the retailer swapped it over without any problems.
I would recommend this product to anyone looking for a value priced bluRay DVD player.

Is there anyway to remove the DVD Region restrictions?
I have been able to do it on 2 previous Sony models but not this one. Lived in the UK for sometime so have a library of DVDs I can't watch on this new player.
