Pretty average
I wanted a small car to run around in and I'd always heard how reliable Toyota corollas were so I thought I'd buy one and see for myself. I havnt had any problems with the engine or transmission but it's just the small things really that are a bit disappointing, the dash above the glovebox has started making a clicking noise and I have no idea why, took everything out of the glovebox and it's still doing it, plus various other squeaks and rattles from inside the cabin. The rear left tail light gets condensation inside of it and I can't figure o...
Read moreut why, doesn't happen on the right side one. The stereo unit speakers have just started making a crackling noise which is very annoying because I would have the radio on so I didn't have to listen to the squeaks and rattles and clicking noise coming from above the glovebox but now I'm stuck with a crackling noise instead, very annoying. The seats aren't all that comfortable, I'm forever adjusting my seat trying to feel comfortable. Can't put the back seats down unless you move the front seats forward but then I won't have enough leg room. I suppose this car is fine around town but it doesn't handle pot holes very well and road noise on a rougher surfice isn't great. I suppose you can't expect too much these days, not sure if Hondas or mazdas would be any better or not. This car is also quite difficult to do oil changes on, it uses one of those silly cartridge oil filters which is quite far back under the car and can be very difficult to get off, no where as easy as doing an oil change on the old vs commodore I had, Oh and the reverse sensor doesn't seem to know what it's doing most of the time.Purchased in May 2022 for $10,000.

cheap interior finish
Steering columb had to be replaced at 34000k, 4 yrs old, Toyota paid 90% after keeping the car a month. Limited boot space and the hatch wont close if items are at the back of the cargo space. Interior trim looks cheap. Nice car to drive. 4 stage auto slightly thirsty

Has it's moments...
This car is OKAY. It has it's fair shares of pros and cons but it was a big step up from our 2-door Hyundai Excel Sprint that didn't have any air-conditioning or power steering. First of all, the corolla has only 2 electric windows (in the front), which makes it a hassle to open and close all of the windows, but since it is the entry level model, that is to be expected. Secondly, The air-conditioning absolutely reeks of fuel. Without re-circulation selected the climate control is just unbearable, even with the heater on. We took it down to Toyo...
Read moreta to get it fixed, but apparently "it's just a mechanical fault that's present on all models". This car is really annoying. HOWEVER There is little to no cabin noise, and the car is quite spacious, considering it's category. It has lasted us a long time and it was quite the case of "bang for your buck", considering it has 7 airbags, steering wheel adjustment, driver seat height adjustment, automatic driver window, automatic transmission, electric mirrors and air-conditioning (-.-) all for $22,990, but if there's one thing we miss dearly on this model, it's ABS. So in the event of a crash, the brakes won't immediately lock up, thus creating more control of the vehicle.

Does the job
Purchased a 2008 auto seca hatch eight months ago to replace our unreliable Astra, it's a typical Toyota, does the job with little issues, build quality is ok with some cheap.
Plastics, engine performance is ok for 1.8 but not the best. The only disappointment is the excessive engine oil use? 2.2 litres in 3 months with little Kms, not very impressed and Toyota doesn't do much about it.

Solid performer
Bought the manual hatch in 2011 to use as a commuter with 150 kms of freeway. Car has performed really well with no issues. The finance through Toyota was an incentive to buy. The fixed price servicing was another carrot. Pity Toyota does not extend the servicing beyond 60k though. Car handles ok, controls are easy to operate. Tyre wear has been really good, still on original tyres and I have close to 60k on the clock.
Ease of driving, comfortable driving position. Servicing costs are cheap.
Fuel guage is hard to read during the day, that section of the dash is obscured.
OK
This is a good car overall but the throttle problem needs to be fixed as it ruins the whole driving experience (should of bought the auto or a Honda Civic).
Quiet lots of room looks good.
No feel from engine at all. First gear is to low you are hardley moving in first gear and you need to change up. The biggest problem is the throttle delay it drives me crazy when you change up you put your foot on the clutch and the revs drop to slowly or rise slightly 100 to 200 revs giving you the feeling that you still have your foot on the accelerator this must be a engine mapping problem and the cars biggest problem and not acceptable.

Great car apart from the visibility issue.
Please note that this review is based on a 5 day rental of the car.
Great little car very responsive
Very poor visibility when reversing. Has small rear window and large obstructing side panels.
Questions & Answers
Hey there, I am looking to buy Toyota's Corolla hatchback 2007 can anyone tell maintenance cost, performance, reliability and everything you know about the car?
I recently bot Corella ascent 2010 2zre15r my10 4sp auto.
How much tank fuel capacity?
It runs around 550km full tank... Is it bad?
While on desk figure shows 7.1/100km
I guess it doesn't show perfect fuel consumption.
According to factory specifics it holds 55L of fuel. My partner has this same model ZRE152R, it averages out 10L/100km which consumes alot more petrol than the newer corollas. Even after major service...
Read more, fuel filter replacement, aftermarket fuel saver additives it still consumes alot more petrol.Fan blows warm air even with temp setting on cold (Ac off and outside intake on).. not sure if this is normal or not? My previous car's fan blew quite cool air from outside. Even driving in the hills with 15 degrees air outside it gets stifling inside with only the fan on, meaning I have to either open the windows or turn on the AC. Possible something is blocked, or is this just because of where it's pulling in the air from the engine bay..?
Hi Karl, this isn't the case with me.Naturally on a warm day it will only blow warm air but when cooler it's cold air and very comfortable.
It doesn't right to me that your still getting warm air on a cool day, I'd get this checked out.
This not normal.Should be engine heat coming thorough.
I've noticed this same thing; haven't identified the cause, nor been too concerned about it aside from a few months we went without A/C due to a failed compressor - unrelated. Haven't verified it, but...
Read more seems to me as though the heat is probably coming froa/m the heater core; as though the heat/cool valve doesn't entirely close off the flow of hot water from the engine to the heater core. Doesn't bother me beyond curiosity, as the A/C still blows nice and cold.Get an answer from our members and Toyota representatives
