a great people mover that has a large enough boot to fit a twin pram, interior kiddie friendly material that is easy to clean after those accidental spills
this is a great people mover, we have brought the 7 seater vesion and i just love the room...great boot space plenty for our pram as having 5 kids ( 3 under 3) i found the boot space in many other cars insufficent to fit our pram.sat nav and inbuilt dvd player along with the foot rests for the middle row of seats make this car a superior car to have. easy to operate door opening by the push of a button and electrical fold down of the back row of seats
you cant fit an additional car seat bolt as it is illegal lucky for us our toddler is heavy enough to go into a booster seat.

The statement about it is ilegal to fit another child restriant is incorrect. You can fit a crab bar in the back providing an additonal 3 child restraints. See your 4wd specilist for this

Best car for a med/large family who also carry stuff and need flexibility of space. Reliable, comfortable, versatile and would highly recommend it ------ by why, oh why, did Toyota stop making it!?!?!?
The space is brilliant, nothing quite like it in the market, so it's a real pity they stopped making it! This is my fourth Tarago in a row, since 1993! I was thinking of replacing the current one (new in 2004) so have test driven everything else and none have the space and comfort, so I'll keep mine for now.
Wish the handbrake was somewhere else - it's nice to have space between the seats (the old Tarago had the brake by the driver's seat).

We bought this car due to it's good reputation and are still very happy with our decision.
I would recommend to families with 3 or more kids however the seatbelt issue may be a negative for some depending on childrens ages and the new seatbelt laws.
I love having the extra space, with 4 little ones it's practical and comfortable.
It's great to drive, nice and quiet and easy to park. Also having a sliding door on both sides is handy for accessing children and shopping.
I do dislike the fact that as a people mover a car perhaps for the larger than average family it only has 3 anchor points and has 2 lap only seat belts in the middle seats.

The Tarago is fantastic! Ours is a 2001 up to almost 170,000km and never missed a beat. I love having 8 seats, it is so handy for taking friends and family. I think the boot space is great, because of the shape of the back and the way you can move the seats, you can easily pack lots in - I can fit all the luggage for a family of 6 and camping gear in mine - if you can't you are packing too much!!!
(and I never pack higher than the top of the back seat). The best car I've ever had!
Very reliable, Lots of Space, Good looking a very comfortable. Don't know how we could live without 8 seats now!
Expensive

We have a 1999 model and just about to buy a 2006 GLI. The 1999 model had done 240K with no problems, just the usually maintainance. We will always buy a Tarago as long as the kids live at home. A friend of mine took ours for a drive and loved it so much went out and bought the latest 2007 V6 ultima and sold his Pajero saying the Tarago was so much better for his family than a 4WD.
This is a great car, not for those who want a performance vehicle. Once you get over the
No cruise control is a let down for the price you pay, better carpet and less plastic would be an improvment.

For a cheap people mover this one beats the others hands down. and many of the dearer ones too. We loved it.
The space, the ease of which people could get in and out, vented ac for the passengers, no fuss driving, reliable. great car for its age. I still think it looks good, for a people mover.
Its a bit out dated now, the newer models of kia's and the such have some neat features, but at a price.

Excellent, for this vehicle has large enough power to push itself to hold all the people inside the vehicle. Wonderful for touring the family around.
If you have a large family this car would be the untimate choice, giving a large amount of space for the legs and the large number of people who can sit in the car (who are the lucky ones). So many features found in the large vehicle which is good, especially for something so big. Space and comfort and performance is the most ultimate part of a car.
The boot cannot fit alot, for if each person had a luggage each it won't fit.

Best car we have ever owned.

I love my car! It's fantastic to drive and has all the space we need and there is always room for extras.
So much space. I love the way you can move the back 2 rows of seats to just about anywhere in the back of the car.
Anchorage for baby seats is only in the middle row so the only way to access the back seats when baby seats are installed is to climb over them.

Car is enough strong and powerful to be relied on for both short and long journeys. I am a team manager and has been using this car to carry my team of 6 on daily basis for more than 1 year now. It is my personal favorite among the list of Multi Purpose Vehicles as the maintenance cost is comparatively low while the overall mileage and performance is very satisfactory.
Its a peoples car which is suitable for accommodating a family having mischievous children who needs more space and freedom than anything else.
Boot space is certainly an issue although can be extended by folding in some chairs which means I have to negotiate the seating capacity. Not very good when it comes to climbing up hill

My 1984 Toyota Tarago (the van ones) is a bit embarassing to drive with the family on board (it looks like a work van) but its got character. After buying an MPV i still kept this car because i just couldnt bring myself to sell it. Its served me so well, and because its based on a van body its amazingly spacious. Today i use it as a work van (with the seat removed) as i use to own an old hiace. This car does the job perfectly.
Dirt cheap now-a-days. Very reliable and very cheap parts etc. Heaps of room.
Engine is under the passenger seat. Very noisy and very slow (only a 2.0L engine). Feels unsafe as there is no bonnet.

This car i would recommended if you have a large family and like to go out to family outings and this car is also a fuel saver.
This car is pretty good because of its spacious 8 seater car that is great for family traveling. It also has a great interior in the inside and love the dash. It has a very smooth traction control great for city and highway drving.
This car sometimes can get hard to slide it back and forth. It also has a lack of horsepower and that it does not have cruise control. This car could also use a good sound system for the price of this car and also the brakes could be alot better for this size of car.

This type of car is good with lots of kids in the same family, or even for the people who only have three children, as on long or short trips you can seperate the children so one is in each section, so they have less chance to argue or fight in the car. This car has plenty of room for taking friends out to dinner, so only one person needs to stay alcohol free. there is plenty of room for close family, friends and grandparents. Some of the chairs can be folded to make more boot space, but with large families this is not always enough.
great people mover

WHen you think Tarago, you think of space, luxury, economy all in one package and thats what this car is about
Awesome! and when i say awesome i relly mean its just truly one of a kind. You can relax stretch your legs and sleep if you like in any seat in this car. Huge leg and knee space, 8 seater and a large luggage space.
Not very suitable for just driving it to the office.
