Pretty solid.
Nice smooth form factor, sleek design and good colour range. Decent value for capacity although the software is horrible with frequent freezes. I would not place my trust in the encryption software provided either. There have been negligible issues regarding device detection although drivers occasionally require reinstalling when plugged back in.

Now an ex WD devotee!!!!!
My WD Passport Ultra 2Gb. Nice blue colour, nice small size case, good size drive for back-up. Good value for the size. What a damned shame the thing is an stunningly amazing dud! Software is buggy and constantly freezes. Hopeless at backing up multiple files. (Acronis for WD is infinitely better and faster). Can't get into the WD portal despite getting five (you read it right! 5 new passwords). Sent an e-mail to WD (17-12-15) and no reply after four days other than a case number (Tonight is 21-12-15).
Plug it in and approx 3 times out of 5, Win7 will tell me it needs to format the drive before I can use it. (USB 3.0 and USB2.0).
Service: 1 star because you cannot give a minus score and ditto for the drive and ditto for WD software.

Small Fast Stable - Just Works !!!
Bought one to hang off the back of my Xbox One for additional storage - was easily recognised by the xbox and reformatted to run games & apps. Mounts every time without fail - sits hidden behind my xbox one you don't even know its there - load times have improved a lot with games - with the xbox off it does go into standby mode and flashes all night long - but this seems to be more an issue with the xbox not the drive and does not effect its use when powering up the xbox its kicks straight into gear. Time will tell if being left on standby will reduce its life overtime - apart from that very happy !!!!

Terrible disk, horrible service
Western Digital manufacturer's warranty worth nothing
1. My WD My Passport 2TB failed (few bad sectors). WD sent my a replacement, but different model (supposed to be better) - My Passport Ultra. WD failed to inform me that different model will be supplied.
2. WD sent me "recertified" disk - failed to inform about that as well. Later I found that "recertified" is not a brand new unit. Moreover, I found that WD manufacturer never sends you brand new unit, but "recertified" only.
3. The "Ultra" ("better model") unit, which WD sent to me,...Read more
miserable failed within few weeks: ALL sectors eventually became "bad" (100% bad sectors). Working many years with computers, I never seen so massive failure. 4. I requested WD help to erase sensitive data on the disk. The most advance utilities WD recommended failed miserably: every time bad sector was found, keyboard input was required. I calculated it would take over 1 year to erase the disk using WD utilities: there is no option "do the same next time". Useless software.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Portability & Speed is the keyword
Simply the best! With speed of up and down load and portability, I could not find a better companion than the WD "Ultra".
I constantly travel and appreciate the security of the external HDD in case a SNAFU could happen. The price is comparable to the amount of HDD.
A must have if you're on the run.
Everything, so sleek.
