Advantage: just what you need for flea-allergy dermatitis.
Bobby, my westie-poodle cross, had experienced dermatitis around his rear end for most of his life despite my use of special shampoos and Frontline flea treatment on a regular basis. The condition was not debilitating but it certainly annoyed him. Then, just as a shot in the dark, I tried Advantage and the dermatitis was gone in about a week and it has not returned: that was about 7 months ago. He now is also completely untroubled by fleas. I would strongly recommend this product if your pooch is prone to skin problems caused by fleas.

Bayer pet products are too expensive and ineffective!
I will no longer be using bayer flea control as it's really expensive....And doesn't work. I have used advantix for several years and it was fine, but the last few months i've had to treat my dogs every 2 weeks, and the last time i treated them it did not work at all. My dogs have been suffering because of an expensive, useless product (as well as my wallet).

Doesn't work on fleas
We have used this product for a number of years and found it worked well up until the last year. We are now finding fleas on our dogs. Even our vet had other people commenting that it now seems ineffective against fleas. We're switching to try something else now. It's too expensive not to work.

Kills fleas but smells disgusting
Although this product has always worked when I have used it on my dogs the toxic smell is horrible. Fortunately I very rarely have fleas on my 3 dogs so I no longer use any of these poisons. It's not good enough that I need to google side effects - of which there are many - because in Australia there is no requirement for this information to be provided.
Kills fleas quickly
Disgusting smell, harmful chemicals

Money well spent
I am so happy to see my dog relaxed & flea free. I switched to Advantage after finding F L totally useless & am very pleasantly surprised. Within a couple of hours after application fleas could be seen dead on my dogs coat. No more scratching, biting & whining from my beloved pet. Funny thing is salesman didn't want to sell me this product as he swore the product I had been using was the best & said I was just wasting my money. Very rude & I won't be buying from there again. I'm sure bayer would not be impressed!!
It works

Never again
We put advantage on our 3 dogs as suggested by our vet. within a couple of days our maltese terrier was sick, and now our king charles is sick, they have lost there appetite and are lethargic, the only thing i can put it down to is the advantage, and besides all that they still have fleas :(

nd then he licks the paws and gets sick. I would expect people from BAYER to be a little more intelligent and add more fluidity to their formula. I would expect more creativity even from a backyard chemist. You are suppose to use it every month. not just as a once off. Most effective treatment i have ever used. My animals have not had fleas for years

Terrible
I believe this is pure water. It does not do anyting. We done everything that was asked by the vet, treated the house, the dog, the bedding, and the fleas are still there.
expensive

Advantage was so effective in breaking the cycle of the fleas that I have not had to use any flea protection on my dogs for the over 12 months. The money spent on this choice of flea protection has been well and truly recouped. Previously using other fleas treatments I was constantly incurring more expense as the fleas cycle was never broken. This also exposed my dogs to more chemicals than necessary. Very good value for my money and the dogs well being and money well spent.

Advantage is a flea control only that really does work. It's not as expensive as some of the other spot ons that include worming etc, so is an economical choice for people that only wish to treat fleas, for example if they get the yearly heartworm injection, so don't need to pay twice for a product that's doing the same thing. If you live in an area that doesn't have ticks, this is definitely the one I would recommend!
Kills fleas at all stages of the life cycle. It really does work!
Doesn't treat worms, heartworm or ticks, which some of the other brands do

I have always found Advantage works better than other brands. I have tried others because they are cheaper and i believed their advertising, but have come back to it for good now. I love that it is weather proof as our dog lives outside and loves to go swimming in the dam, it is good to know he is still covered.
It works better and for a longer period than other brands I have tried over the years
It is one of the higher priced ones. Sometimes you get it on your skin when the dog shakes after application - this may be a health concern.

This hasn't worked on my small dog at all. I have used 3 applications now and it seems to last only a week or so, then he's scratching again. I picked 4 fleas off him yesterday and he doesn't play with loads of dogs. Not worth buying again.

Ahh... finally a product that works. After trying many different brands I have finally found one that does what it claims to do. There are just so many different brands on the market that you never know which one to try as they all claim to do the same thing. I have found only this product to do what it claims to do. The application is fairly simple to do and not much mess. I would strongly recommend this product. It was great
It works!! Easy to apply.
It is a bit more expensive than other similar products on the market.

I have been using this product for several years. Last year I stopped and changed to another product. My dog got fleas and no matter which product I tried, or how I treated my house I could not get rid of them. I went back to advantage and within a few days we were flea free and happy again! I strongly receommend this product for your pet. It works! And that is what matters! Easy to use, no mess, a wonderful product
easy to use. effective. really helped us overcome our dogs flea problem when nothing else would help.
the price - but it works

This is a great product.
We tried to avoid using any chemical product as in our opinion it's asking for trouble, cancer etc.
Too many people go straight for a tin of poison at the first sign of an ant, flea or fly.
Spray it everywhere (poison that is) and wonder why they have weird symptoms!
Nonetheless we tried a flea comb and tea tree oil and this cut the fleas back dramatically.
It did not however remove all the fleas around the home which this product seemed to.
This product was awesome.
BTW, never buy exelpet.
It's cheap, nasty and all it did was make our dog very sick!
Works like a charm.

I have always used advantage, having two dogs I need to always keep on top of flea control. It does get very pricey as a 6 pack will only last me three months rather then six. But it is probably the cheapest of all the flea control sold at vet clinics. I never find fleas on my dogs at all. I did have two pippets of frontline from a friend to use and whilst using those kept finding fleas on the dogs which i've never had with advantage. Though using advantage i do need to use a monthly heartworm and intestinal wormer awell seperately, i am so ha...Read more

I have been using this brand of flee control for my dog for over 13 years and have had good results every time. I buy it in the 6 month pack however I don't use them every month unless I think my dog might have a few flees - maybe once every 2 months and it keeps him happy. They are so easy to apply & don't really cost an arm & a leg considering you get 6 months worth in a pack and if they do the job then it's worth it anyway.
very easy to apply & it works well every time
may seem a bit pricey however you get 6 months worth in a pack and if it works then it's worth it

I have found this the best for my mini foxie, I have tryed the other brands and they don't seem to work any where near as good as advantage.
The good thing with advantage is you can buy it in single rows so its not costing you a heap compared to other brands you have to buy the whole box with them.
This product works so fast which is what you want it says 3-5 mintues and the flea's stop biting.
Overall 5/5 for me, Can't get a better flea control for dogs.
The price is great. Can't get any better then advantage works everytime.
Nothing at all.

I used Advantage flea control last night & the fleas are still running around on my dog this morning, can you tell me how long it should take to kill the fleas.?Thanks

In my review, I said ADVANTAGE never did work.
The only one to actually work was COMFORTIS.
Hope this helps.
Thanks for your reply, she is still scratching a bit but I think it is working, can't see any on her tummy. I don't really think I would like to use Comfortis, if I don't have too, I once gave my last dog tablets for fleas & he developed stomach cancer, not saying it was the tablets but it has made me a bit weary. Thanks for your reply.
I was using advantage and my dog was riddled with fleas I took her to the vet and he said they can become immune to advantage! I am so annoyed because it is so expensive and it's no good to me now as I always brought it 6 monthly!! My vet gave her another flea killer and said they should drop off at the end of the night which they did but she had to get a shot of cortisone for the pain she was in!! Hope this helps

I was told a couple of drops in a dogs ear will kill ear mites is this correct. If so how msny times etc do I have to do it?
1 answer
Ear mites can be very annoying for dogs. Advantage is not the best product for this condition. Use Advocate which is specially formulated to kill ear mites. Put the product on the skin on the back of the neck, don't put it in the ear. Clean any dried blood or debris off the outside of the ear very carefully with cotton buds and clean water. Do not put anything in the dog's ear. If the dog continues to show irritation from ear mites after a few days, take it to the vet.

Anyone using any of these toxic poisons who have animals suffering side effects need to report it to the AVPMA. You can do it easily online. And go to US FDA site & check out the horrendous side effects that get no mention in this country.
