Chewy

The meat is very fresh but it was not great quality. It was chewy tasteless and stringy. It was dry and we did not enjoy eating it.

Purchased in May 2021 at ALDI for A$20.00.

Very disppointed with the poor quality of this product. Tasteless and tough to cut and chew. We purchased 2 x 1kg pkts and do not look forward to eating the second pkt. Shame on Aldi for selling second quality standard meat. Will not be back to this store.

Purchased in May 2021 for A$40.00.

Aldi jindurra station new Rib Eye 19/5/2020

published

19/ 5/2020 bought Aldi Jindurra Station (new) Rib Eye Steak.
Holy! I’ve had some tough steaks in my 63 years of being on this planet but this takes boot leather to another level of tough. Rib Eye being the most tender and expensive normally from a reputable Butcher I thought I would try Aldi’s version because some of Aldi’s meat(not all) have been very good but luckily I didn’t fall for getting a lot larger amount I just got 462grams.
WARNING: don’t bother it’s ridiculously tough. No not just chewy it’s not edible

Purchased in May 2021 at ALDI.

Fillet with a tail, slightly tough and no taste.

published

Well the title says it all really. Never purchase a beef eye fillet from aldi before, so with their special at $19.99 p/kg (Seaford SA) I thought why not. Picked what I thought was an ok size both ends and a bit fat.
Got home and unwrapped it - one end had a 'tail' of thinner fillet tucked under the bottom and it had gristle and big lumps of fat to it - a good 1/3 of the meat was waste. Could have taken back I suppose but too much hassle.
Cut the rest into nice nice steaks, seasoned well and into a pan for 2-3 minutes one side and 2 min the other hoping for around a medium. Was slightly toward well done, however still editable but on the tougher side which in-turn gave no taste.
Wont be buying that again !

Great price and top quality.

published

I'm currently a butcher of 40 years experience.
I don't normally need to pay for my meat but when I was in a ALDI store I purchased a whole
eye fillet to try.
It was $25.00kg, we sell our eye fillet at $49.99KG and I must say that the eye fillet was absolutely beautiful, tender, juicey and flavorful.
I highly recommend their meat, just make sure it has some white fat on it.
You can always trim the fat off after it's been cooked.
Cheers...

Need to prepare before declaring tough!!

published

I think the reason people are declaring these rubbish is that they don't prepare the whole fillet.. its a whole fillet people !! With a wide tendon/ ligament running down the outside.. slide your knife under it and cut it off.. like filletting a fish down the backbone!! Simple and takes about 20 seconds!!
Its no wonder people declaring them tough.. hahaa trying to eat a tendon.. I have bought a ton of these eye fillets and they are all exceptional value, tasty and oh so tender

Purchased in February 2021 for A$15.00.

Tough as old boots

published

Just cooked a eye fillet from Aldi, it was the toughest least flavoursome eye fillet I have ever had in my life, Now I like shopping at Aldi I particularly like their cheese and wine and I appreciate the meat was cheep, however it is not good business to sell rubbish at any price.

Purchased in February 2021 for A$20.00.

Appallingly Tough

published

Several days ago we purchased a pack of your Jindurra Eye Fillet.

Needless to say and why I am writing this note, it was totally inedible. A total waste of money. The four of us were left to simply eat the vegetables and had to throw the meat away - yes it was that tough ! Like most we have in the past chewed our way though a tough piece of steak but this was just ridiculous and totally unacceptable.

What makes this worse is that it is the "Second" time this has happened.

We have in total bought three lots. The first was terrific. The last two - appallingly tough.

Where is jindurra

Jindurra does not exist.
Aldi just name it that name - they claim the meat is Australian, but will not tell anyone where it comes from in Australia.
Search Aldi Jindurra on Google - plenty of Q's, especially on FB ;)

Which is the best way to cook Jindurra Eye Fillet from Aldi ensuring a tender meal?

Pert

Heat your pan until it's smoking. Then add olive oil. 2mins on one side and 2mins on the other. 2 mins in the oven and bring out and rest for 3 mins. This all depends on the thicness of the slices. Also remove tendon.
