These aren’t real salada biscuits!

It’s misleading to call them “Salada Originals”! These flavourless, flat objects are far from the original.

They used to be slightly more leavened (puffier), and you could dunk them in your coffee quickly before they fell apart. These bricks are nearly indestructible... they no longer take the flavour of the coffee, nor soften in the least. Brickettes rather than biscuits, but flat, oh so flat.

I think the best option is to stick with my memories and avoid tainting them with this knock-off.

What a let down.

I don't think they get it.

Profits to sacrifice products. Just like shapes, why change a popular product,if not only to increase your profits. New and improved marketing is very hard to swallow just like the new and improved biscuits. I'm not sure how you can make a simple biscuit taste like cardboard, but you've succeeded, and looks like we will be parting ways after long relationship.

Different flavour

Quite a few are complaining about the change in flavour of Saladas. This happened when the yanks bought Arnotts and started using cheap ingredients. The main culprit was the switch from quality butter to cheap oil. They ruined most of the popular Arnotts products and the rest they just made smaller.

Smaller and taste DROP

Woe is me. I've purchased Saladas religiously over the years. Today, I noticed the box was smaller. When I unwrapped them I was shocked to see they are now smaller in size, in thickness and also in taste. What are they doing? Time to look for a new crispbread I am thinking. Boo Arnotts.

Less biscuits and less taste

I purchased two packets of Salada biscuits today and noticed that the boxes rattled. The reason.. about 15mm of spare space in the box. The reason, less biscuits in each plastic packet. This change results in 4 biscuits less per 250g box. There has also been a change in the taste. At least they could have been honest and just put the price up a little. This deception is not on. Goodbye Saladas, no more!!

I'm Deeply Saddened

I've read a heap of reviews about the changes made to our Salada Biscuits and I couldn't agree more..Cannot believe what they have dear old Ozzy icon good of our child hood days.. go to food after sickness.. picnic food.. and buttered and Vegemite heaven.. I even take a couple of packets whenever I travel over seas. But sadly no more!! Simply could not believe this 'trash in s packet' marked as Original recipe! You've removed the fat content, reduced the salt.. you've stolen our joy!!

What happened to original salada taste

I used to love these and haven't tried for a while so thought I'd pop a couple of boxes in the trolley. Boy was I really disappointed, the flavour was dry tasteless and probably filled with a lot of cheap ingredients. Come on Arnotts get your act together.

Succesfully destroyed by Arnotts.....again!

So far Arnott's have ruined as far as I know Arnott's shapes, lattice, Sao, and of course why stop there Arnotts, you may as well destroy the Salada as well! And by God they have, it tastes like cardboard, all Arnotts biscuits seem to taste like cardboard now, why is that? what cheap and nasty recipe change have you deployed for the Salada?
..........JUST HORRIBLE

Salada biscuits now a past memory

I haven't had a salada biscuit in ages, but had a box in the pantry which was calling my name to ply with butter and vegemite. I sat down to enjoy a couple of salada biscuits only to find they are nothing like the salada biscuits I knew and loved. Even the dogs preferred the cardboard packaging to the now tasteless biscuits. Alas, another icon gone. They maybe Original Salada biscuits by name but that's about it. Very disappointed and unlikely to purchase again.

Terrible quality

I also have been a constant consumer of salada bisucits - they are no longer the same thing and I
will not buy them again. They break so easily you cannot put butter or spread and also do
not taste the same. Terrible changes to what used to be such a good product.

Why did you make the holes bigger?

I have bought these since I left home 45 years ago. I loved them with mayonnaise and tomato. Now that you have made the holes bigger for your cost cutting measures, the mayonnaise drips through.
They are no longer on my shopping list for the work kitchen or my own.

Different ingredients in Salada

Why is it that we have a perfectly good product, Then Arnott"s are bought out by an overseas company who decide that they can make it cheaper by changing the ingredients. The trouble is that the biscuits now taste horrible. I won't be buying them any more either

Disappointing

Why won't these break on perforation? So frustrating to say the least. Now are tasteless? What happened used to love them.

The wholemeal salada's now have no taste

The wholemeal salada's now have no taste!!
They are so disappointing, I remember when they first came out they had little pieces of whole grain in them lots of flavor. Now it just tastes like cardboard. Using cheaper and cheaper ingredients reducing quality & flavour does not make your product better

Rip off.

Why why why is the packet one third bigger than needed? It makes it look like a big box of salada... I wish I could post photos - ) theft by deception by Arnott's. I wonder what the first Arnott's would think about this. I've complained before but dismissed with Arnott's usual excuses!!! The box is one third too big...but it looks like you get more biscuits....own up Arnott's.

Won't break on perforations

Quite often when I buy Saladas to use for school lunches they won't snap apart on the perforations. So wasteful- what do I do with broken biscuits?

what have you done arnotts

I also opened up the pack thinking why are they so over cooked and where is the rest of them. I have a plastic container that i have used for years to store after opening. I used to have to eat three salada slices before I could fit the rest in. Now they fit in straight from the pack. Ripping me off. Thanks again arnotts.

Bad batch and sell cheap??

Always loved saladas but recently got some on special and not only are they overcooked but there is literally 5 tiny grains of salt on each square! So someone messes up and to save some money you decide to sell them anyway, on special, and since they are ruined why waste more money by puting the correct amount of salt on them right?? Bad form guys. Saved throwing a bad run away but by doing so risked losing long time customers. 40 years of enjoying your product down the drain. Never again.

I could not agree more

I bought a packet of Salada's, opened them yesterday, looked at them and thought, what are these because they are definitely not the Salada's I remember. These were really thin, tasteless, hardly any salt and basically not worth pitting butter and Vegemite on. I love my Salada, but these biscuits are not Salada!!
Bring back the original Salada so I can enjoy having my Salada, with butter and Vegemite as a snack!!!!!!!!!

Salada, perfect with a bit of butter and Vegemite!

SALADA still call Australia home.
Very similar to other saltine biscuits, with Nabisco's Premium being the closest rival. HOWEVER, Nabisco products are made in China whilst Arnott's Salada are still made here.

This biscuit is not for everybody, but I highly recommend them with a small layer of cold butter (easy spread is best) and a very small amount of Vegemite. They are to die for them!
Made in Australia
Are very nutritious (i.e. they will make you fat if you eat too many)!

Always broken and bits missing

Why are there always broken bits, and pieces missing. I have purchased these from Woolworths, Coles and IGA stores. I have never had a packet without pieces broken. I opened a new packet today and one quarter of the biscuit was missing, not the 1st time. They are also harder and not flat anymore.

Too hard, not flat, always broken in sealed packets.

Classic cracker

The flavour of this cracker hasn't changed over time. Although the holes appear to be bigger and the size a but smaller. There's always a nice amount of salt but not over powering. This is a good neutral tasting cracker to have with cheese although may be perceived as a bit lower class. It comes wrapped in plastic rather than a foil wrapping.
Always the same.
Seems to be getting more expensive with less in the box.

Excellent

I ate a lot of these when I was pregnant. The perfect morning sickness snack to keep you from throwing up. Sorry but it is true. They are salty and not over powering in taste so easy to eat. These are fantastic with cheese on them (when you are not pregnant or at least don't have morning sickness). I buy these sometimes for my son and I think there is a lite version as well.
Another Arnotts classic biscuit. A tasty biscuit that is not too over powering in flavour that it will take away from the topping you put on it.
Nothing that I can think of.

Good

It is a great cracker to eat by itself or with some deli meats and some cheese. That way it can be a light and healthy lunch. I like the salty taste and its not fatty or flaky tasting. Both the flavours are great, the wholemeal is a completely different taste because its a bit softer and doesnt break into crumbs like the original.
I have had the original and the wholemeal variety of this cracker. I buy it because its much healthier than the others on the market.
I wouldnt eat it in front of people because its really crumbly and I would never get rid of all the crumbs off my shirt and off my face.
