Black Hawk Grain Free Formula

Repetitive bouts of diarrhea and vomiting, including blood in his stools! Our pup weighs just 5.5kgs and when he was eating this stuff he would end up dehydrated and sick. Switched him to HILLS science and cured!

Have fed my dogs Black Hawk for years. Something has changed. Suspect the formula. It now makes them sick and vomit daily. I have now stopped the Black Hawk and they are getting better.
Will never buy this product again

This food has been great for my German short haired pointer who has allergies to both food and the environment. I have tried other brands such as Hills and they have exacerbated her itching and her condition rapidly declines. Given the problems with this brand I.e. the salmon flavor being recalled, I tried a range of different brands again recently but came back to this brand. I would have preferred to take her off of Black Hawk given the risk for another faulty batch to be sold but I can’t find another brand that works so well for her. I have never tried the salmon flavor and only buy kangaroo, lamb and chicken. Her stools are always firm and I have never seen her experience any adverse reactions.

I opened a new bag of Black Hawk Grain Free Kangaroo last week and straight away noticed it smelt awful. My cocker spaniel still eats it and has not had a reaction to it, but I’m wondering why does this bag smell so yuk. I’ve been using for a couple of years now with no problems.

i noticed after putting our shepherd on black hawke 4 months ago, she is on her second or third bag now she has been doing horrible farts. Now since friday she has started vomiting. And her poos are soft and runny.today i noticed blood in a stool she had passed today. I googled black hawke to see if there had been any issues with their dog food and came across similar issues to mine very concerning. I am going to ring the pet store where i bought it from and tell them. I have completely stopped giving her black hawke and now trying her on a dog log.

I'm so angry after almost two whole bags of Chicken Blackhawk biscuits made my three danes very sick. The farts and the diarrhoea was soul destroying as I knew they were very sick. I left the almost full bag and bought another thinking it was just a bad batch but after chicken and rice dinners and feeling better, i opened the new bag and within hours the farting and diarrhoea returned. It is disgusting that these big companies take short cuts and make our beautiful loyal fur kids so sick. One of my danes is still very sick and hasn't touched Blackhawk for 5 days now. The company should be ashamed of themselves and forced to eat it. Absolutely DON'T recommend. 0 Stars

I started to look into patterns of dogs being unwell, dry wretching /vomiting,poo consistency as have been using Black Hawk Grain free formula in chicken varieties since 2018. (yes Salmon has now been recalled, caused massive diarrhoea in my pets at the time )

I came to the conclusion they didn't display a sensitivity causing adverse reactions when I used a different feed and have today completely banned black Hawk from my household before it takes a precious pets life.

My dog has been fed Black Hawk for over 6 years and thriving on Black Hawk. Started on the recommendation of a friend and haven't look back. Bella is now 13 and has allergy issues. We had issues for her on Hills Science Diet and Eukanuba, they made her itch like crazy. Started on Fish and Potato, then moved to a grain free version started on the salmon, and mix it up with the chicken and occasionally now back to the standard range fish and potato. Never had any issues. Nice firm poo's every time.

Our dog became quite sick with diarrhea have had to feed her chicken and rice. Tried Black hawk Kangaroo grain free again and became sick again. Always liked this brand, unfortunately will not buy again.And yes vet bills and medication to get her better.

I got my dog Blackhawk Salmon Grain free and she stopped eating and was very flat, took her to vet today and changed food away from Blackhawk Salmon and she began to eat again. Extremely concerning she is only a little dog and we should be able to trust that our dogs are safe when we buy dog food.

After reading this review I am very disappointed that Black Hawk haven't acted sooner. My dog has had chronic diarrhea for some time. I've had him at the vets and then spent money on a gastrointestinal diet which the vet suggested to try and resolve the issue. Went back on the black hawk grain free salmon afterwards and again had issues with diarrhea. Will not be buying Black Hawk again.

There must be something wrong with the grain free range formula. Our dog has been on this range for a year but recently got really sick with vomiting and diarrhea after switching from chicken to salmon and kangaroo range. We had to rush him to the emergency to do full blood test, X-ray etc as the poor thing is 16 years old and nearly died from this trauma. Thought it might be an infection but after reading other reviews I realized my dog was not the only one had the similar reaction after switching to salmon and kangaroo range. Very disappointed and not happy that my dog had to go through all these trauma at such an old age.

My dog developed bad diarrhea from eating Grain free Black Hawk Salmon. It's cost us money and trips to the vet. Thankfully pet barn is notifying it's customers that the product is being pulled from the shelf. It's very disappointing considering it's so expensive. My dogs are on chicken and rice which seems to have resolved the issue.

My french mastiff has been eating this food since he was 2-3 months old, now at 11 months, he has had diarrhea for a good month or so. He has not eaten anything new or unusual. We are curious to know if the formula has changed? The kibble size has changed aswell in the last couple of months. We started adding the kibble into some boiled chicken and rice which assisted slightly however when back on pure kibble, the diarrhea returned. We took him off the black hawk grain free and on to a different brand and everything is back to normal. Meant to be one of the best brands and is also one of the most expensive. We are very disappointed. If anyone would like the 1/2 bag we have leftover, would be happy to give it away for free.

Have fed my dogs this for years - one has a sensitive stomach but the other is fine. We chose salmon Blackhawk due to them both having joint issues and hope that some extra fish oils in their food would help. We have never had any trouble with the food until recently when our new bag clearly had different sized kibbles. Both dogs got diarrhoea that did not resolve until they were off the food. Even my dog with the better stomach who usually will eat rubbish and still be fine had diarrhoea..sorry Blackhawk but something has changed and I definitely won’t be going back anytime soon.

We have always fed our Rhodesian Ridgeback on Black Hawk products (5 years since a puppy) and have found them to be good. However the grain free salmon made him have really bad diarrhoea and drool excessively. He was on it for 1 week and it started straight away. We then cooked some rice and veggies for him and he came good. After he was good we gave him the Salmon again and the diarrhea returned. He is currently back on the original black hawk and is fine. I wonder if there was a bad batch of food out there?

Like an above review, I too have noticed that the kibble size and colour is different. Im not sure what exactly has changed but now I have 1 dog vomiting regularly after eating! Very frustrating when things are changed without letting the consumer know so they can make informed decisions for their sensitive pets! Now on the hunt for another food!
