Asko D5436SS (Stainless Steel) (page 2 of 2)
- 3 reviews
This is so quiet, we don't even know that it's on. The dishes are clean every time and there is plenty of room for all the dishes. Didn't plan on spending too much but spent a little more than I hoped but I am very happy with this purchase. The guy who sold me the Asko dishwasher was very knowledgeable on his products and very helpful.

This dishwasher cleans the dishes well. I have never found a dish not properly cleaned when I empty it. Like most dishwashers I think you would need to run it more than once a day if you had a family, we do when everyone is home for a meal. We need to change some things we use which need a wash as my wife is concerned about her plastic items. It does a good job of the rangehood filters which have always annoyed me from a cleaning point of view.

What an awesome, quiet and effective machine. Well worth the extra dollars to know that you have a g
Very quiet, effective and drys dishes extremely well. What an awesome machine, better than any other dishwasher we have owned. The finish and quality is 2nd to none for not many more dollars than the other brands available. All fittings are well designed and the draws are very effective and hold all dishes required for a 4 person family.

Very happywith my new Asko dishwasher. Nice and quiet and washes the dishes well but best of all the bottom shelf has the configuration we like - sumilar to my old 13 year old Kleenmaid which died. The versitility of the bottom shelf is great and the dishes stack across amd not front back which othe name ones do.

It's simple to use and quiet. I like the economy mode for days when I only have half loads. The stainless steel finish is easy to keep clean and not too many buttons on the dishwasher which I really like. Stunning machine that works brilliantly . The inside has excellent drawer runners that never stick or derail like my previous dw. All in all a great investment and very happy with it's performance since purchasing brand new last year.
Our Miele dishwasher broke down and we were recommended Asko. It is the best purchase we have ever made! It cleans very well every time and the dishes come out dry every time (we use 'normal wash' ). It's quiet and a high quality product. I highly recommend this appliance!!!

It's my fault. I admired our14 yr old Asko D3350 dishwasher, thinking what a great machine its been and if it died then I'd be very happy with its service.
So then my thoughts killed the machine - the wash cycle pump was the problem and I weighed up paying for service and parts for something that's done its job and new would be a better investment.
The reflex was buy Asko, after a quick survey of the models, I bought on line.
Then I read the reviews here and questioned my loyalty, - they weren't what I was expecting, after I'd paid bu...
Read moret before I'd taken delivery. It was too late to change and I had that bad feeling for "doing the insurance renewal technique" and not looking into more reviews before hand. The new Asko arrived, it was installed and then in-laws wanted our advice on what dishwasher to buy.Related Articles

I was highly recommended to buy this dishwasher. Even though it cost far more then the other dishwashers on the market. I thought I'll give it ago. Well 6 months has passed and wow I am so disappointed.
Firstly, the top rack never cleans, it's a mess and spreads the dirt to the cutlery on the bottom rack. And even the dishwasher compartment flap doesn't open up through a 2.5 hour cycle. What a waste of time and water. And if I am lucky enough for the flap to open, the dishwasher tablet is half dissolved. Now, I have a faulty dishwasher, where the water is leaking on the tiles and the safety switch turns off. Now I believe I have a faulty dishwasher. :(

We have now owned our Asko dishwasher D5436SS for six months so we have had time to observe its functions. It has a stainless steel finish and is a built in/under-bench model.
Negatives: (a) I have to be careful not to pinch my fingers in the latch when opening the door (however my husband doesn’t have this problem). (b) Detergent dispenser door does not open properly if items stacked on left side of top basket are too close to the front of that basket. According to our plumber this may explain why (on a few occasions) when I have opened the...
Read more door at the end, the dishwashing powder cube is only partially dissolved which then requires the dishwasher to be run through another short cycle (after removing the undissolved powder) to ensure all the powder residue is removed. It looks to me as if this dispenser door could never open fully when the door is shut (a design fault). It's possible this problem could also occur if the special knife holder suspended under the top basket is not pushed in far enough. (c) Power button is on all the time if you forget to turn it off. This means that power (although probably minimal) would run to the unit continuously. Not sure why there is separate buttons for power and start. (d) Dishes do not dry despite buying the more expensive dishwasher with the added power drying feature. (e) Timer on wash cycle varies (only by a few minutes) each start time - not sure why. (f) Eco wash runs 15 min longer than normal wash! However, it does use less water. (g) I would prefer more options for length of wash times. (h) Booklet has no information about the extra arm in the bottom of the dishwasher that is supposed to be for pots, nor information about the power dry function of this particular model. We only know what these things are because the sales lady told us. Positives: (1) The dishes are clean (that is if the dispenser door opens properly). (2) The design of the top basket allows for two rows of average sized mugs to be stacked (on top of the other) which gives lots of room for cups/mugs (unlike my previous dishwasher). (3) Overall performance is good. (4) Quieter than my old dishwasher. Notes: Next time I would buy a cheaper dishwasher. No “bells and whistles” needed. After all, it is only a dishwasher! I recommend taking along a couple of your tallest mugs to test out the stacking arrangement/capacity for your needs, and also take your largest size dinner plate. We went in to buy a Bosch (as recommended by our repairman) but we didn’t like the fact that you had to push in the basket firmly to engage the top spray and this particular ”engaging” part is plastic and we were very concerned about its durability with continual heating/cooling/engaging. Check wash cycle times as I feel that 2hr 15min is a very long time in this day and age and especially as I always have the plates well scraped (and often lightly rinsed) prior to loading. Obviously the washing time affects energy consumption. Be aware that energy consumption also relates to temperature of washing. I prefer to wash dishes at a higher temperature for hygiene purposes, so happy to use more energy on temperature than washing time. Our old dishwasher that “died” was 29 years old and unfortunately you can’t buy another AUSTRALIAN MADE Vulcan Dishlex anymore.Hi Deb,

Great dishwasher. This has been recommended to us by numerous people. We were told to not even bother considering any other option. If your happy to spend the money it is worth it. The turbo drying is the best function. Only negative is that the touch button to start the cycle is a bit sensitive and doesn't always work the first time.

Thank you for taking the time in appreciating the product. With regards to the start button, kindly press and hold it for few seconds and it will register the press. Please...
Read more feel free to contact us on 1300 002 756, should you have any queries in future. We were looking for a dish washer that would last many years and bought this model knowing of the reputation of Asko. When working it did an excellent job althpough the design of the bottom layer does not work well for washing cutting boards or oven baking trays.
Over the last few weeks we have had the service people out three times and ASKO has now agreed to replace the machine. We welcome their decision and look forward to the replacement machine giving us our wished-for years of good service.

Service team with this appliance is the WORST I have had to deal with!!!!I bought this brand because I had an ASEA that lasted me for 25 years. ASKO have been to my place 3 times and it is still not installed properly. I bought a freestanding dishwasher and then found out it has to be bolted to the floor or otherwise it tips forward. What!!!! Would never have purchased it if I knew that was the case!
Hi Mary,
