Excellent
These are great projectors. Simple with a great image. Value for money fantastic.
My 1070 has been perfect, no issues. Recommend.
These run at HD, 1080. My other projector is newer and 4k, not a big jump for the money.
Always run at night / dark to get the best out of them. Daylight is no go.
If you get a good deal on one of these, go for it!

Excellent product support
BenQ customer service is next level. My projector used to heat up real quick. I told BenQ who arranged for a pickup, gave me real time updates and sent it back a week after... all for free.

Best in price bracket
Great for movies and gaming. Nothing close to its price that can compete as far as I know. Mine has had no issues and is a great picture. One day ill replace it when LED lamps become common

Good, but not perfect (review for the w1070+ version)
This review is for the updated w1070+ model.
Firstly, it's a great projector for the price. I'd go so far as to say best of its category. The picture is sharp, big and vivid, and not once have I regretted purchase. That being said, there are a few flaws that deserve mentioning. For one, the picture isn't perfectly squared (not with my unit anyway). The top left side slants inwards a few degrees and can't be fixed by fiddling with settings or the unit itself. Secondly, the volume is blaring at the lowest setting. For me personally, these issu...Read more
es nearly had me sending it back for a new one, but I've learnt to live with them (the volume issue can be addressed by using apps with an inbuilt volume control). My unit is over 2200 hours in and still working as new. Keep in mind, the cooling fans can be loud, but unless you're shelling out a couple of grand for a sony, the fan noise isn't bad in comparison to other projectors of this league. Pros: - Great picture - Fair price - Loud and clear speakers (no need for a 3rd party device, unless the inbuilts are too loud for you)Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Excellent quality, excellent price, terrible lifespan, littered with problems
Purchased mid-2013 for ~$1000
Fell in love with it, excellent quality and brightness for the price, watchable in a sun lit room with full wall length windows - though dark movies are best viewed at night, and with the bulb recently replaced. Always run on SmartEco mode
After 1 1/2 years and ~4000 hours first bulb (that came with projector) blew. Literally blew, and glass from the bulb jammed the internal blower style fan which subsequently broke. After two weeks of troubleshooting and disassembly, removed fan and replaced with replacement...Read more
genuine fan found on Alibaba, back up and running again with new bulb. So far, total cost = projector + $140 for bulb + $15 for new fan + many many hours of tinkering Now, 3 years after purchase (another 1 1/2 years later and a year out of warranty) and only ~3500 hours into the second bulb, dead pixels (stuck mirrors on the DMD DLP chip) start to appear. So far the count is 15 black pixels and 1 white pixel (very annoying). The black pixels are bearable and very easy to ignore and actually take some time to notice, but the white pixel is intolerable and ruins any dark scenes or backgrounds - suddenly the immersive joyful experience is over Quoted $450 for the part and $150 for the repair. Out of warranty and Benq are not interested whatsoever in doing anything about it other than provide contact details for local repairer - even though TI (Texas Instruments) provide 5+ year warranty to the manufacturer on the DMD chip. Extremely unhelpful and a huge runaround with RMA service and customer support; taken two weeks and 5-6 emails to even get a response from something that wasn't an automated replySimilar opinion? Price OK. Poor Quality.
From price point, you get decent enough picture quality.
The product itself is poor quality. Our projector fan burned out in just 6 months. My friend bought the same projector few months before us. They also had the same experience. They did replace the fan free of cost under warranty, but what good is the product if almost all of these projectors need parts replacement under 1 year? If unfortunately it broke just few month later, that's $1000 down the drain.

Perfect theatre room projector
Plays 3D movies and has great image quality. We use it often and are very happy with this purchase. Bought it from Officeworks. The fan is a little noisy but nothing the surround sound can't drown out. Am very happy with this purchase and would definitely recommend it. Way better than getting a big screen TV!

Best $900 ever spent
I was looking at projectors as a friend had purchased a cheap eBay one and said it was the way to go for movie nights etc. I stumbled across the benq w1070 on a few tech review sites. Family members laughed when I said I had purchased a projector. Until that was when I plugged it in and put Jurassic park on the loungeroom wall. Then I watched as their jaws hit the floor. The picture quality is simply unbelievable, I have a 51 inch Samsung 3d TV and it now looks like a 14 inch black and white camping TV next to the w1070. I have it set up in th...Read more
e garage on a 115 inch screen with 5.1 surround, The image is so bright and colours look like they have been freshly painted on the wall, I had to calibrate it as it was little over the top. It gives a 2d film a depth that you simply dont get on a tv no matter how big it is. I do see the odd rainbow effect as w1070 is a dlp, but nothing worth worrying about. now when I go to peoples houses and they have a $3000 60 inch led TV I'm like yeah yeah whatever. price, picture quality, easy to set up, wow factor. smells of burning plastic when new. fan noise is a little audible, you might see odd rainbowSimilar opinion?
