These are excellent highly recommended...excellent suction...they just seem to last forever. They clean very well excellent for cars. The base charger failed after one year but got a cheap replacement online easily. These are easy to clean the little dustbag replaceable part can be bought easliy online. Amazing vacuum cleaner had the cheaper quality handheld but found i cleaned better with s brush and dustpan this one is excellent

A very good little handy vacuum cleaner. its lot easier to clean the car and even to use to clean inside the room. 18v lithium battery really makes it powerful in small design I am amazed with the suction it provides comparing with the same volt other hand vacs its lot more powerful with inbuilt attachments.

Cleans very well, just remember to give the filter a clean every 6 months.

Charges well. We leave it on charge at work so it is always ready to use.

I've never owned one of these but I'm now convinced they're a must have with a baby/toddler. We basically use it every day since our toddler makes such a mess from his high chair. We have wooden floorboards and cleaning up a 1 meter area takes 20 seconds. It has good suction, it's easy to clean, and works pretty well for bigger jobs like our car.

I used this vacuum around 6 times within the first year and now it has completely stopped functioning. While it was alive it was great but now its not much use dead!
To get someone to look at it was going to cost minimum $80 and a new battery around $100. So i may as well buy a new one!
Wouldnt recommend this product or Godfreys as a store either.

After my coffee machine, this is my most used small appliance.
Its powerful suction easily picks up hair shed by my three small dogs, cleans my sliding door tracks and makes detailing the car a breeze.
I have given this model to family and friends as a birthday or wedding gift and it has been enthusiastically praised by all.

This is a great hand held vacuum. Fantastic for food particles and sand. We use it multiple times per week in short bursts to clean up the mess left by an 18 month old. Easy for my child to hold and turn on and off when he wants to help clean his own mess, and easy for us to use when he doesn't.

I got one as a birthday gift and was surprised if the great quality feel it. Very Powerful, very easy to use and it's great for cleaning my car. I've used a Dyson handheld vac and it was a overpriced, over-engineered rubbish machine. Black&Decker knows how to make a no nonsense, honest, reliable handheld vacuum cleaner. They invented it and been making them for over 30 years.

As per Jeda - drop the Dustbuster in its holder and charging light comes on, approx. 20secs later light goes off and the machine has no charge??

I know the machine is nearly 2 years old but hasn't been used much but was an expensive piece of kit - not a happy bunny and not likely to buy B&D again.

Just redeem DustBuster PV 1820L from Westpac 2 months ago it's work well until I charge battery this time didn't respond anything at put on charge got flash light on for 10 sec n light go off I thought it's charging all I put on charged for 4 hours still didn't work again. So very disappointed

I purchased the black and Decker pv1820 with the lithium ion battery and I have had it for 4 weeks now
I am very happy with it, it has great suction and having the lithium ion battery I don't have to worry about part charging we had a gator and that was crap
Get one of these units and you won't be disappointed

In September 2013 I purchased a Dustbuster 16.8 v the one with the long neck. It has just stopped holding its charge so I only get about 5 mins if I am lucky. I am not very happy about this. I rang the Mooroolbark office and was told there was nothing they could do except throw it out. You cant even get a battery pack for it. I have today bought another B & D Dustbuster PV1820L-XE so I hope I am not going to have the same thing happen after the warranty has run out. I have paid for and extra year hoping that will be ok but feel it is wrong to have to pay out extra money like that. I hope you can come up with an answer to this problem. I cant rate the new one yet as I have only bought it today. Many thanks.

I still have this one and it's going strong so I am disappointed it has been discontinued as it is so useful. It was also very competitively priced. In fact, I didn't intend to buy this one as I wanted a Dyson but the chap in the shop actually said this was far better value and worked really well; and he wasn't wrong. I also like the way it folds up like a 'snail' so can easily sit on the kitchen bench and not be in the way. And unlike other handheld vacs that I've had in the past (I'm a bit of vacuum cleaner obsessive :)) this one holds its charge really well; is easy to clean; and has good suction--what more can one ask for? Well probably another vacuum cleaner... and I wouldn't go past black and decker. JD.

Ignore the 1-star reviews, I bought this to use for my cleaning business and it is brilliant! So easy to charge overnight and as long as you bear in mind you have about 15 minutes of charge, it has done every job asked of it and has picked up everything imaginable with no fuss. And it gets thrown about. Quick empty and clean of the filter and it is off again. Wouldn't hesitate to buy another if I broke this.

One thing I would say is it looks like there are at least 7 versions of this vacuum- mine is a UK version model number PV1020L-GB which is the 10.8-volt dustbuster. It's possible that some versions work better than others.
