Good for background music but falls short in high quality stereo.
I've tested many speakers throughout the years and thought I would get my hands on the Bose 301 Series V speakers. I connected them to a denon avr 3803 which I use for stereo listening, the amplifier puts out 110 watts rms into 2 channels driven, so there is more than enough power to drive these speakers, unfortunately it wasn't power where they fell short, it was sound quality, it lacks bass which for a speaker with 8" woofers I was expecting more of, even with a Subwoofer I felt like the sub was doing all the work which makes the 8" woofer se...Read more
em pointless, the mids while they were there, were a little muddy for my liking. The treble was the only one thing that seemed to be OK. At the end of my experience with these speakers I have to say that I am disappointed that the 301's don't live up to the expectations that I had. For the same amount of money or less you can get better speakers with better sound, for me that was the polk signature line up, specifically the s20 bookshelf speakers which if you wait long enough, you can get it about the same price as the 301's and the polk s20's had more and well defined bass, cleaner midrange and crystal clear treble with proper stereo imaging which is perfect high quality stereo listening at great value.Purchased in June 2021 for $525.00.

Bose, Great Speakers
Great Speakers. Bose, never disappoints! I have been a big fan of Bose for many years. I purchased 4 of them for my Band-Room and they are just perfect. Coupled in with the TV and entertainment system, I can't fault them. The only thing I will be complimenting them with in the future will be a Bose Sub Woofer.

Bose 301 speaker
With the bose 301 speakers,if you play by itself then its will sound not that great because they are lacking of bass,in order for the bose 301 sound good, its needed a subwoofer to go with it.I am having a bose 301 system at the moment, which i really enjoying it. Its sound as lound as you want (well not over load it). To go with the bose speaker i have my self a Denon avr 2807 receiver,a pioneer equalizer plus a jamo E 8SUB along with 2 pairs of front bose 301 series v and a pair of bose 201 series v also, i use it for my karaoke system, whick s...Read more
ound awesome, but then you have to use the right tools for karaoke, which is vocal. Beside the karaoke i use for my surround sound for movie, which i have to turn the centre speaker on. Well bottom line is the bose 301 speakers has to go with a subwoofer in order its to sound great, good luck everyone. Not expensive, and i can get it cheaper, kkk No bassSimilar opinion? OK
I have been a big fan of bose for many years, and I have to admit I was a bit disappointed with these. I have owned a pair of the old 80s model 301s and they sound much better. On there own they don't produce enough low bass, and whilst the direct reflecting tweeters sound good in movies, they sound tinny when playing music. I have coupled mine with a pair of old bose Interaudio 4000s (10 inch) and they sound fantastic together (clarity from 301s combined with bass from the 10inches). FYI I am running a NAD L75 amp (60RMS x 2) so perhaps more p...Read more
ower would help with the sound. I'm also running a NAD C521BEE Cd player. Look good. Nice mid range. Good overall clarity. Tweeter sound is a bit tinny. Expecting more bass. Best coupled with another pair of speakers.1 comment

I just thought I'd follow up on this. I've since bought a much more powerful amp (nakamichi AV-10 - 100rms + 100rms) and the sound and bass out of these is now much better. It just needs a very powerful amp!
