I just bought a new Breville Multi Chef BRC 600 from Domayne Two days ago . looks good. I have had a Breville Rice cooker before with a steam function . So thinking this New one would be a little better with stainless steel steam tray . But after one use i am so disappointed with it, it steams up ok, but the steam and all the Moisture comes out side of the lid and Runs down all over the side on to the Control Buttons,, do you have any suggestions how to stop this occurring, i thought i had to much water in the tray but not as its was only 30 mm depth of water in the bowl . i was cooking cut up Potatoes, i hope you can have some ideas to fix the problem, or just go back to my old Breville rice cooker Cheers Nigel

We are using the old one as well, (plain old rice cooking) and its still going strong. The Multi Chef BRC600 we only did risottos and rice - didnt tend to overflow but it still died on us after very little use,. Good luck...

Instructions say to add liquid between min. and max indicator on bowl for slow cooking. Can you cook a pot roast for example using just a small amount of liquid so that the roast is not stewing?

So, have had my Breville Multi Chef for months, and never used it. Decided to today. My question is, you do not manually select the time, right? You just select the option, SLOW-COOK, and the machine does the rest?
Thank you.

Hi using the breville multi chef to cook a casserole, on high, using the slow cooker function. After 3 hours there is no sign of bubbles or boiling. First time cooking a slow cooked casserole. Is this normal? What have others found? Tx.

This is the problem I had with my unit — and it turned out to be broken, and unfixable. :-(

We've been using MultiChef for 10months and had used all features very happily. But It stopped working, the light is still on but the heating plate is not working.
We still have the warranty with us but we did not have the receipt because it was given to us as a christmas gift last december 2015 because they know that we love breville appliances. I asked my friend if she still have the receipt but unfortunately she cannot find it anymore.
Can we still fix this? If yes, how and what do we have to do?

Mellyasked

I have loved using the Multi Chef for the last two years, however lately it seems to be loosing it's little electronic mind. No matter what setting I use the machine keeps telling me that cooking has finished and goes into 'keep warm' mode when it is very clear that cooking is not complete. In order to use this machine now I have to hang around the kitchen and continue to reset the machine and watch that the rice etc, is not then over cooked. Is this a fault? I will certainly be looking to purchase a different machine if this is not fixable.

The slow cooker seems to cook okay but the rice cooker just doesn't cook as well as a 'rice cooker only'. Yet to be convinced.

Hi Maree - we will ask the test kitchen for assistance and let you know. Thanks, the Breville team

Breville
BrevilleBreville

Hi Maree - the test kitchen has responded with the following: We have cooked porridge in the Multichef and it works, however don't leave it on Keep Warm as the porridge will become too thick and dry.

1 level scoop of rolled oats : 2 scoops of water. MAX quantity is 4 scoops of rolled oats
Use scoop provided to measure the required quantity. Add oats to removable cooking bowl, ensuring the oats are spread evenly across the bottom of the bowl and not heaped to one side. Add water using the following ratio 1 scoop oats : 2 scoops water
Keep the lid off
Press the RISOTTO button and press Start.
When cooking is complete the machine beeps and it will automatically switch to KEEP WARM. Turn the machine off and do not leave on KEEP WARM otherwise the porridge will dry out.
Stir in extra milk or water to reach desired consistency. Serve immediately.

Hope this is useful. Thanks, the Breville team

This information will be on the base. I imagine they make it for other countries as well. If you have a US plug, it is 110, if you have an Aus plug, it's 240. But yeah, see what's written on the base.

I have been using my multi chef for a few months on all functions. I can't understand how it knows when to go onto keep warm while using the slow cooker, it hasn't done it yet even though the food has been in there for 5 or more hours. Otherwise I like it very much .

If its on high cook it will cook for about 4 hrs before going to keep warm. On your slow cook setting it will cook for about 8hrs before going into keep warm :-)

Oh thanks, I hadn't used it on high setting as it cooks too rapidly but will try it, thanks again

Is it good for searing? I want to be able to sear/seal/brown the meat/sauce/veg before slow cooking, preferable all in the one pot without having to brown on stove in another pan before transferring to this slow cooker.

It sears very well. I cannot understand MoreDots - mine turns onto warm after 4 hours on high, not 2.5hours. _ I haven't used the low setting yet.
