Brother printer
Great printer takes up small amount of desk space and print quality is fantastic. Replacement toner cartridges are competitively priced keeping the total cost of printing very low. I will never use a messy, slow, expensive ink jet printer again. Get yourself a Brother HL-1110 you will not regret it.

Brother HL-1110 does the job
Satisfied with print quality and overall performance. Refill prices of original are high so buy the generic cartridges which works beautifully well. It does not jam and is quite reliable each time you hit PRINT. As long as you want to only Print this is value for money. Easy to set up and start running in matter of minutes.

"works just"
Its cheap ! its noisy ! all pictures of unit show the paper tray closed, so when I got one from office works $58, I only realised after installation the paper sits out in the open all the time collecting dust- IE there is no "paper tray" like my old brother 2040. Print quality is just ok, yes its cheap and will fill the gap untill the toner runs out and will then purchase something more robust, better quality, and has a paper tray !!

A sleepy printer
Product Review
From: Bryan Clark,
Email: [email protected].
In need of a simple, uncomplicated printer to use in conjunction with my laptop, I visited Harvey Norman's store, in Alice Springs, to examine their variety of offerings.
The salesman finally recommended a Brother H L 1110 machine, saying it was "simplicity itself."
"Is it easy to set up?" I asked.. "I'm pretty much technologically illiterate."
"Easy as pie," I was assured. "Just put in the disc and away it goes. It installs itself."
Paying $47.00, I hurried off home to set it up so it would be ready for use in an hour or so.

Excellent value for money
If you only print text this cheap little laser printer leaves the ink jets for dead. Print quality is quite good but a more expensive printer would do better. It doesn't stuff about for 3 minutes on start up like my old canon. The ink jets won't print B&W if one of your colours is low. ( even if the black is full) We have 3 of them between office and home hooked up to Windows and Mac. Not a problem. You can print manual double sided as well, just wait 5 seconds for the page to cool down. All in all glad to be rid of buying colour ink when I only print B & W.

Fantastic Value For Money
A few years ago, I purchased a fairly expensive Hewlett-Packard inkjet printer which stopped working recently, so I decided to buy another printer for printing documents, research and writing. I found this printer in Officeworks and purchased it immediately, not expecting much. However, after using this printer for a few months with only one minor issue (which could be solved by spending 30 seconds cleaning the drum), I can safely say that this printer gets the job done. A lot of people will find this printer very appealing because of the low p...Read more
rice, but it is also very economical. The toner only costs around $50 and prints around 1000 pages. The quality of what this prints isn't bad either, it actually works extremely well for just printing text. And if you don't mind black and white, a graphic or photo here and there is fine too. Overall, this printer is very good if you're just looking for something simple. My only gripe is that it doesn't include the cable to connect it to the computer, so make sure you pick that up when you buy the printer.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!
Can barely ever print with it - terrible!
This printer plugs into my mac but 90% of the time says 'printer is offline'. I have fully downloaded the drivers and all. Small possibility it's the mini-usb to usb cord bought separately. Absolutely terrible - no convenience having a printer at home (especially of emergencies) at all!
Also, pages come out curled and hot, so there is no possibility of reloading pages soon after printing to manually do double-sided printing, as I have done with a better quality home printer/scanner in the past.

Great printer for the price
Whilst this printer isn't as good as my more expensive Fuji Xerox D255, it does a great job when you simply want to print out several pages of a document quickly, and don't need whiz-bang print quality. You can often get this printer cheap for less than AU$40, which would make it debatable whether to buy a new printer or genuine toner cartridge when the toner runs out on this or one of your other printers. It closes up to be a fairly compact unit, but takes up a bit more space at the front when the paper tray is dropped down for use. It doesn't...Read more
have the network connect features of other units, and connects via the USB, which is fine. Only issue I have with it is a recurring dot on the page every 75mm or so, which I can live with when it is a AU$37 printer, for which I can replace the toner for AU$15!! It is a bit noisy, but is relatively fast to print, and is pretty good about going into powersave mode when it's not in use. No fancy features like wireless or duplexing, just a plain 'ol black and white laser printer.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Rough prints aren't acceptable
My Brother HL 2142 laser printer performed excellently for 4 1/2 years but this model disappoints. At 600 x 600 dpi, the printout is not as good as the 600 x 600 dpi printout of my Brother HL 2142. It does not delight me to read its text printout after having been used to reading text in better quality before. Fifteen years ago, entry-level laser printers were already printing in 1200 x 600 dpi so why is this still in 600 x 600 dpi. Furthermore, at 600 x 600 dpi, the actual printout is worse than that of the 600 x 600 dpi of my old Brother HL 2...Read more
142 which was the entry-level laser printer when I bought it. Household consumers often do not understand technical specifications and what matters is how they observe the products to perform. In my view, the print quality of this model isn't poor at all but just isn't as fine, even and crisp as the print quality of my older Brother laser printer. This printer is in the $40 range so I don't mind that it is flimsier, noisier, slower, and its compact design means that paper would gather dust if left exposed for a long time. But It is hard to accept that in 2016, the print quality of your entry-level laser printer would be worse than what you had five, ten, or fifteen years ago. Good print quality enables one to print in lighter shades of gray, 2 to a page to save on toner, paper and filing space, things that this model does not allow me to achieve. Fuji Xerox's entry-level laser printer claims to print at 2400 x 600 dpi so it might be worthwhile to check that out.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Excellent budget laser printer
I have had 2 Brother printers before and have been quite happy with their performance. I had the last one for probably 4 years (I think the 2140) before the drum needed replacing. It wasn't worth the money to do this so I went out to buy another printer and the HL-1110 fit the bill.
So far, it is doing a good job and does what it claims - compact and reliable printing. Yes, it's a bit noisy but I don't mind. It doesn't have fancy features like duplex or wireless printing either but I don't need them.
Replacement toners aren't too expensive from what I can see, especially if you get a generic.
It's a bit flimsy but what do you expect for $40.

Cheaper than a HP cartridge
I bought this as a replacement for a HP photo printer that I didn't really need. I just needed draft quality black and white printing and that is what this cheapie does...for the cost of replacing one cartridge in the HP ($37.50 at Good Guys). I crossed my fingers and hoped for the best and so far (after 100 or so pages of printing) it hasn't missed a beat. I would not recommend to anyone whose needs are more than occasional draft quality B&W printing but if that is your need... The moment of truth will come when it runs out of toner - do I buy a replacement toner or simply buy another HL-1110 ? The answer will depend on how many pages it has produced. The replacement toner costs more than the printer.
Cheap
Nothing so far

Only prints two pages
The printer only printed two pages before running out of toner. It advertised that the box came with enough ink for 700 pages. This is not a fit for purpose product.
I purchased it to quickly enable me to print in black and white but two pages in not enough from any perspective.

After printing around 1000 pages and changing the ink & putting more paper into the tray the printer decided that it is going to start making funny noise and not print anything at all. Guess I got what I paid for. It is cheep and nasty.
