strong chemical smell
I purchased this mat on Baby Expo and had it for a couple of months but noticed strong chemical smell after a few weeks. I wasn't sure if it was me so I asked a few of my friends to smell it and most of them were able to pick up the strong chemical smell like I did but some said it was light. I found if you put a glass bowl upside down and leave it on the mat over night, you will be surprised how smelly it becomes. I wasn't going to put my kid on it so I return it and paid for the delivery cost. I'm disappointed that people at Softmats insist t...Read more
hat there was very little to no smell when it was blatantly obvious to me and many of my friends. I would recommend everyone to try my method and see if your play mat has strong chemical smell like mine.Purchased in November 2021 for A$170.00.

Best play-mat ever
I bought this mat when baby started tummy-time, it has been so useful ever since! The mat is perfect for play-time, learning-to -crawl-time and anything kids want to do on the floor, can be done on the mat with the safety and comfort of the cushioned surface. It has withstood 7 years of regular use, still in good condition, my kids still play on it! The best thing about the mat is, it is so easy to clean, simply wipe with damp cloth or paper towel and it is squeaky clean. I don't have to worry about dust mites etc. Highly recommended for anyo...Read more
ne with 'kids allergic to dust'. The price is a bit expensive and designs are limited to only a few. It would be good if the company could make similar mats with carpet-like designs, not just cartoonish prints.

Love this may
Cons: expensive. But managed to find a brand new one on sale via gumtree!
Pros: fun pattern. Easy to clean. Good Size. Soft. When my daughter falls over when trying to stand she usually just laughs (ie it’s very soft and supportive)
Not sure about durability as have only had for about a month.

Just buy it already!!
I hesitated for a while because of the price and I wasn't sure if the foam would be thick enough for our tiled floors. The foam offers great cushioning for our 8 month old. The colours are bright and fun. It's durable and easy to clean. I should have bought it sooner. We found it for sale at baby bunting.

I love this mat
I was hesitant at first to purchase this mat because of its cost as compared to my $17 mat. But this mat has proven to be worth every penny. Nice design, easy to clean and my toddler loves it. He has mastered his ABCs and 1-2-3s faster after having this mat. I don't know if it's just a coincidence but he has become more interested in letters and numbers after purchasing this.

I love this, great for baby/kid and mum to exercise on :)
This is one thing I would buy again and recommend to new parents.
We originally bought this as our first place was tiled in the living area thus cold and hard and even though it was a LOT of money for us to spend at the time we thought it was the best thing to do if we were going to play with baby on the floor.
My son is now 4 and there is not a day that passes without it being used. It is great on the knees also.
We chose the print that has a farm theme on one side and a road map on the other.
I have exercised, played with baby/toddler/k...Read more

Great for the baby.
We love our mat, it's great to sit baby on and not worry if she has a little tumble, it's so well padded. It's a shame it's so expensive, but we got ours at the baby expo which afforded us a small discount, I'm so glad we got it.

Brilliant!!! Should have purchased sooner!!!
I have been wanting to purchase this product since I was pregnant and going shopping for baby stuff. My sister had lent me one of those material play mats which are good for when they are younger but when they start to move around a lot, the material mat moves with them and does not protect them as much (not as thick). This mat is awesome. The colours are inviting and has so much more protection than the other material mats we used. Can be used from a young age which is great I just wish we had bought it sooner! Daughter loves playing on the mat which is easy to clean. We purchased this from Baby Kingdom for $165 around 4 months ago.

Expensive but great quality and absolutely worth it
Hummed and hah'd before buying this as it is $180 odd but the fact that it is cushioned for baby to prevent injury when falling over on a hard surface (we have polished wooden floor boards) and that if there is any vomit or spilled anything it can be easily and hygenically cleaned - so much easier than a cloth mat and much safer than the alternatice jigsaw puzzle mats which can come apart and appear much more fiddly than one piece of matting. Having had the mat now for a week I can honestly say this is a fabulous product and well worth the investment.
Cushioning, bright design, size, easy to clean.
Nothing! Would be nice if it were a bit cheaper though nothing to do with babies is! At least this is quality.

Must have product!
We have been using the normal cloth/quilt type playmats & I always thought they were great until we purchased this one. It was very pricey compared to others however we did some research and found the benefits outweighed the cost. My only regret is probably buying this mat so late (our daughter is 6 months old) when we could have been using this since she was born.
Large size, great double sided patterns, thick foam width, waterproof & non toxic
- very expensive compared to other playmats

Fantastic play mat!!
Fantastic play mat! We have tiles in our playroom and is was great for the kids to play on. It's waterproof too so great for nappy free time - or snack time - just wipe clean!
Great on our tiles in winter - the kids feet didn't get cold and could still have nappy free time and not be worried about them getting too cold being on the floor.
Waterproof and easy to clean - fantastic padding in case of falls

Love love love my Bubba Matt!
I had been eyeing off a Bubba Mat in Baby Bunting for weeks and then actually managed to pick one up second-hand. Despite the fact that the previous family had used the mat for 3 years already, it was in almost perfect condition! Just goes to show how well they wear and how long they last. It's so soft and cushiony and it's bright and cheerful. Plenty of room for my little one to roll around.
Soft, durable, easy to clean, safe
A tad expensive but definitely get years out of it so a sound investment

Fantastic, worth the money
I looked at a few play mats before deciding to make this purchase. This play mat is extremely well made, has a lovely cushiony feel to it and baby loves rolling around on it. I am not a fan of the foam puzzle pieces some use as a play mat - I don't want to waste time pulling it apart and putting it back together again and other cheaper play mats just don't look like good quality. You can tell this one will last. It is pricey but worth the money in the long run if planning on having more kids. You won't need to keep replacing it.
Lovely finish, very well made, qualty

Just what I was looking for!
My little boy started rolling over at 5.5 months and the cloth play mat wasn't big enough or padded enough to prevent him hurting his head on our floor boards as he rolled. I could hear a thud. That's when I found the Bubba Mat. It's awesome, so big (190cm x130cm) so he can roll several times and I can also play with him on there. Its a firm plastic foam mat, well made with two sided graphics. The one I bought has a farm scene on one side and a town scene with roads printed on the others side so kids can play toy cars on it. It's totally wipabl...Read more
e so easy to clean and is a great size. It's also tapered on the edges so you're unlikely to trip over it. It cost a bit $189 at Baby Bunting but it's worth the money - it would cost the same to buy a rug for the floors. Whilst you can buy the foam alphabet squares to put on the ground instead for a lot cheaper, I read that they can be toxic and kids unsupervised can pull them apart which can be a hazard. I like the fact that I can roll it up to pack it away when we have guests over in the evening too, I can't imagine having to pack away many foam square pieces regularly. Large size, 190cm x 130cm, firm foam, tapered edges to avoid trips, easy to pack up, great prints which encourages kids to play. Was expensive but it ticked all other boxes for me so I'm very happy with it and would pay that price again if I had to do over.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!
Questions & Answers
Stacey G.asked
Has anyone placed any furniture on these mats before? I have a small kiddies table and chairs I’d like to use on it later on but worried it will be too much for the mat to handle.
1 answer
Hi, If the kid’s table and chairs are made of plastic, it may be fine. Timber chairs usually leave a dent on the mat, which is temporary unless the edges are sharp enough to cause tear in the mat. If u place the little chairs with square legs, it may tear the mat while dragging the chair back and forth. May be try for a day, see what happens, then change position, if the mat bounces back, it will probably take the weight. Thanks.
