Removed most important functions from previous generation iP4900
1) Now CD-printing can only be done in High-Quality. This means it's 3x slower to print on CD's. Previous generation had "Standard Quality" which is 99% identical in quality to High, and is printed 3x faster then useless "High" quality.
2) Insert CD tray into printer is a dreadful process. It's difficult, hard (need to use serious muscles), and you have to aim.
Whoever thought up of this design was drunk! You'll be dissapointed if you're buying this exclusively for CD/disc printing.

Great CD/DVD Disk Printer, Excellent price and Beautiful Prints. Wireless to boot. A+
I do a lot of disk printing, and over the years have found Canon to be the market leader in this area. I used to regularly hook up a RIHAC continuous ink system to Canon printers, but got sick of the problems inherent with CISS. I recently purchased two Canon IP7260 printers and decided to just use generic cartridges and so far I have had no problems, and the printer is used every other day. The print quality from the Pixma range is second to none in my opinion and what I like about the IP7260 is that it is now wireless.

wireless was a breeze, simply pressing a button on the printer and then pressing a (WPS) or Push 'n' Connect button on the modem. I use the Canon CD-Labelprint to design covers, the software is easy to use, very intuitive and includes all the graphics and text options you are ever going to need to create professional covers. The CD-Label software can be downloaded from the Canon website and is free of charge. A have very little in the way of negatives to say about this printer. One thing I did notice compare to the earlier Pixma Printers was they removed the draft option when printing. You used to be able to print a draft quality print, meaning the print was faded but used way less ink. I occasionally used that option, but now you are just given the option of a standard or high quality print. Not really a big deal at all. I really like the double sided printing which works like a charm, I don't have to do anything, the printer prints on one side, then sucks the paper back in and prints on the other before spitting it back out again. To be honest, I have only printed a few photos and they were great quality. I really love that there is a separate tray for photo paper, so I can have A4 paper loaded and 6 x4 photo paper at the same time, so I never have to worry about changing one for the other. So that at anytime,I can wirelessly send a print job from my laptop to either print a paper document, a 6 x 4 photo or a CD/DVD print. You can also send print jobs from android devices, although I have never tested this function. I do have an android phone, but just not a need to print from it really. I prefer to rework my photos in photoshop before I print them. I have used Canon's extensively over the years, but prior to the IP7260 was using an Epson which i was disappointed with. If you do a lot of printing like I do, you will eventually run across a little issue of Waste Ink Absorbers becoming full and rendering the printer useless. It appears to me this is a deliberate built in redundancy design, but I found with the Epson it displayed this problem much sooner. If you are keen enough you can fix this problem, there are youtube videos showing you how, but you have to get deep into the bowels of the printer to do it. It is essentially like an absorbent sponge that just needs to be wrung out, but I could never be bothered with that. When this issue eventually arose, I always decided it was time to upgrade, which is why they designed it like that anyway I imagine.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Impressions of an ip4950 user who switched to the ip7260
If you need a cheap printer that can print onto a CD, there isn't much choice out there. Online is your best option - you would be very lucky if Officeworks or Harvey Norman actually had one on the shelf. The RRP on the Canon ip7260 is $149, street price is about $120 but I got mine for just $95 including postage on Ebay. This included 5 ink cartridges and the USB cable.
For over 2 years now I have been giving a solid workout to Canon's earlier equivalemt, the ip4950. It generally performed wonderfully and I only ever used the cheap generic...Read more
ink. This was most likely the cause of its eventual ink blockage problems, so last week it was time to upgrade to the ip7260 "Upgrade" is probably not the right word though - the features are pretty much the same except for the new wifi wireless printing capability (which personally I don't use). OK so here are my assorted thoughts on my "upgrade" - 1. The included software is a great improvement over the old model's boring set. You get a good bunch of useful stuff.2 comments

adle is made of brittle, breakable plastic. It LOOKS flexible, but if you look closely at where it is anchored to the inside front of the printer, you will see that it is bent severely at the anchor point and it was not designed to be scrunched up.Similar opinion? CD printing software.
I bought the iP7260 for the CD/DVD printing function, but there is no software on the installation disk for CD printing,
The iP4800 I had, supplied the CD software which I am using with the new printer. Bad luck if I did not have the old software. Aside from that the iP7260 is an excellent printer.
Everything & you do not need the wireless function to install it.
No DVD printing software supplied.

how to print duplex so that the back side is not upside down
2 answers
I am asking you how to make the printer print both sides the right way up as this useless thing prints one side upside down
Hello, As you can see in the picture uploaded: https://ibb.co/zZpxZby you may need to go into the printers "Page Setup" to change Duplex settings. If you have installed the software you can go to "Start Menu>Programs>Canon Utilities>My Printer. The window in the picture will open and select as stated above "Page Setup Tab". If you set the Duplex to long side left the printed pages will read like a book if in right order. I think you have it printing out "Short Side Top" so this would be used if you had pages stapled at top and you would flip the pages up not across.

can i print envelops?
1 answer
Yes, Not the same model printer but tray looks the same. In the video he put the envelope before the rollers but I tried it and set it forward over the rollers until it touched the black paper stop and worked fine. https://youtu.be/eKqnmJv8Kds

AUTHOR'S UPDATE - I have since found out what caused the freezing issue - it was a USB issue - whenever I had a memory stick plugged into a USB port, the printer would often freeze. Just pull the stick out & the printer starts working.
