Waste of money

published

"Rechargable" battery won't recharge. Bought it to avoid the need to throw away batteries but now I have a large useless battery pack to dispose of! Ray's should not stock inferior products like this.

Purchased in June 2021 at Ray's Outdoors.

Useless

published

I bought this lantern as an emergency light for blackouts. It worked when I bought it, only using it with D cells, not rechargeable. It has sat by my bedside for emergencies for the last couple of years. Tonight we had a blackout, Seems it must be the lantern. Very disappointing, and it will be too late to return it to the store.

No good for emergencies

published

Rechargeable battery doesn't work, followed all the directions which came with the lantern for recharging.....nothing worked, no more coleman stuff for, paid good money for nothing, I had to purchase another brand which is great

Piece of crap.

published

The so-called rechargeable battery does not work. Don't waste your money. I tried to take it back after 6 months, but Ray's Outdoors would not honor the receipt and warranty. The manager said, "If I took back all of Coleman's faulty products I would go out of business." Ironic. I phoned Coleman direct. They said, "Take it back to the store." I said I tried that and they won't take it back. Also the store is now closed. She said, "Buy our new product." Ha! Then, "You have to charge the battery all the time or it won't work." I should have bought a plug in lamp because that is what I have ended up with.

Average light, very poor battery.

published

I, like most used the light a minimal amount prior to packing away until next trip only to find that the battery will not recharge once left for an extended period. Very disappointed, Coleman have a reputation to protect here, they should at the very least allow these lanterns to be exchanged for a comparable product that operates as the average person thinks it will.

Rechargeable battery died

published

The rechargeable battery died even though I had hardly ever used it, it won't recharge. I have to use it with single use batteries, then the lantern works quite well.

Absolute rubbish

published

Absolute Chinese made rubbish. A disgrace to the retail buyer mentality. If you buy one after seeing this, good luck, you're gonna need it.
I will never buy a coleman product ever again. This is now my 3rd disappointing coleman product.

Anybody found good quality battery lanterns anywhere?

Disappointing

published

I bought this light almost 2 years ago and have never been impressed with the amount of light it gives off.
However have just returned from a camping trip and the light refuses to work despite the battery being full charged as well as trying with 4 brand new "D" size batteries. I have been told that there is only a 1 year warranty on it although it has only been on three trips. Not a good investment!

A good entry level lantern

published

I've had this lantern for over a year now and used it several times and does its job well enough. It provides a reasonable amount of light though not super bright. After using it the first time and storing the lantern for several months without a full charge, the battery would not charge again. It was replaced under warranty. It is well built and easy to handle. Battery life is good as well on the rechargeable battery pack. A good lantern for the occasional camper. The 2 negatives are that it isn't very bright on its highest setting and the battery pack causing problems if it hasn't been charged prior to storing, at least in my case.

Rubbish...

published

First lantern only went the first time, then next time it went for 1/2 hour. BCF replaced it (even though I wanted my money back). The reason didn't want another one isn't just because it was faulty, the actual lantern is pathetic. 9 hours on low, which is such a low light it's a waste of time, 6 hours on high, which you could not read a book to in a tent. The 9 hour and 6 hour times are also very dubious, I reckon 2/3rds that max.

Then to top it off the first 3 charges have to be 18 HOURS, what a joke. Only good for 2 night stays, a waste of money!

Only worked twice

published

I bought this lamp last summer, used it twice and stored it in a dry and safe place. It won't turn on again, called Coleman and was asked to charge the battery for 16 hours which I've done to no avail. I literally used this lamp twice! Would not recommend it to anybody.

this is a great unit. can charge from car 12 vault system or inside off 240 vaults. Gives a really good light - teh nightlight feature is just taht - it doesn't give enough light off that setting to do anything. this unit is very lightweight. power cords pack inside it which is a fantastic feature. we used this for 4 nights without a recharge. it didn't get heavy use though, but it was performing fine at the end. quality made. we are happy with it and thinking of buying another
really lightweight. can charge from car or 240 vaults. very stable. doesn't tip over

Where can I purchase replacement parts for this lantern without ordering online? Such as the light bulb and rechargeable battery.

I'm sorry, I don't know. I'm just using the lantern without the rechargeable battery.
