No adverse reactions with Comfortis, and very effective for killing fleas!
Comfortis works really well for my dogs....Kills fleas very effectively as promised, and I have observed no adverse reactions at all, no vomiting, diarrhea, or lethargy......However, I don't give it year round--just during the warm months when fleas are flourishing.......

It worked for fleas, but there were some downsides.
Comfortis was a miracle drug when our two large (60 lbs and 70 lbs) inside dogs suddenly became infested with fleas thanks to some irresponsible new neighbors. We watched the fleas actually die on our dogs and it was great knowing the drug worked. During the first dose the only side effect our dogs experienced was lethargy but otherwise they were fine. The second dose I suppose they didn't get a large enough meal and had been playing a bit and they had the vomiting side effect of the drug. Comfortis worked with us though and offered a free repl...Read more
acement for the pills, which was great. They had been on Comfortis for about 3 months when the dogs refused to take it on their own and we had to force the large tablets down their throats because no matter what we would do to sneak it into their food or make it a treat, they just wouldn't take the stuff. The medication still worked though and fleas never seemed to return that we can tell. Our vet is switching us to a different medication that covers both fleas and ticks since Comfortis does not handle ticks, so this is another downside of the medication.Similar opinion? I hope my dog recovers!!!
I gave 1/2 a tablet to my dog about 8 days ago and he hasn't been the same since. My playful, hungry Shih Tzu has become a lethargic, trembling shell of his former self. He's not eating AT ALL. I brought him to the vet and he's lost a ton of weight. They put him on an IV, gave him anti-nausea medicine, did blood work and gave him a B6 shot. I hope to God that he recovers, but I have NO DOUBT that this POISON is directly responsible for his rapid decline. I can't believe this stuff is even legal!!!

my gorgeous Labrador
My beautiful dog came to us totally infested with fleas. He has been on comfortis since about 6 months after that and we have seen no fleas either on him or in our home ever since. I HIGHLY recommend this product to anyone with pets and truly thank my vet for recommending it.

Fleas are probably immune to it
I used to use Comfortis and it was marvelous. My neighbour's dog had a reaction to it, but fortunately mine didn't. We never had a flea problem. Unfortunately last year I bought a $70 packet and found that it was just like giving the dogs water - fleas are evidently immune to it. It didn't work at all, and I have heard that from others who used to swear by it. Very sad. Perhaps some flea populations are not yet immune to it - not sure how that would work.

e up. Animals, especially cats, have sensitive and highly idiosyncratic metabolisms. Flea populations also have different characteristics. I had no problems with this until the fleas in my area became immune. It still worked for my sister's dogs for a while but then her flea population became immune. None of our dogs had bad reactions, but my neighbour's dog had a frightening, but temporary, reaction. No-one's experience is invalidated by anyone else's experience. They vary.Similar opinion? Great for Tick Prevention
Not only great for fleas but I live in a high tick area. My border collie has had a number of ticks over the years but since using Comfortis 3 years ago we can now go back for our bush walks as she has been totally tick free. Highly recommend.

Within 40 minutes I literally seen flees falling off dead Day 2 after and no sign of them and my dog wanted more after I gave it to her so it must taste good too! Absolutely recommend! 100%

Dont use comfortis
An hour after giving my cat Comfortis she passed away very suddenly. She was on no medications and had no health problems. I gave Comfortis as prescribed by my Vet and it was not expired. Please do not give Comfortis to your cat or dog.

Did nothing!
Waited a full 2 weeks for this to arrive in mail. Gave my gshepherd a bowl of food, and then the tablet. He was not affected by it at all. No fleas even showed them selves. It been 12 hours now, and still nothing. What a waste. I'm sure my dog can eat the entire pack and continue battling the fleas...... Not impressed at all!

Love this medicine
I gave comfortis two my 8 dachshunds and then a second dose a month later. That was 4 months ago and they still don't have fleas. I buy the largest dog meds and cut them in 4 pieces so a six month supply for one large dog will last me 3 months for my small dogs. Now I am ordering for my mother in laws 6 small dogs. I gave her dogs one month but did not follow up with a second dose a month later so her dogs got fleas again. This time I will follow up with a second dose. My dogs are so happy without fleas.

My dog, who eats everything, will not eat this pill. Is it okay to mash it until it's about coffee ground size and put it in peanut peanut butter? I'm wondering if is extended release in with case it I ground it would hit his system all at once and he would get a big overdose.

I always use peanut butter to give my dogs pills because they don't like pills, also I cut it in 2-4pices depending on the size of the pill and give it to them. I star in the morning and then the rest I give it to them during the rest of the day..
Great product for me

My vet gave me comfortis spinosad for a 60 lbs. 810 mg. Dog and told me to split into 4 pieces for my 12 lb Shih-Tzu. A week later she's dying. Any advise?

Did your dog survive? I am so sorry for your problems. Obviously, the vet advised you to give your tiny dog too much.
