My dog, who eats everything, will not eat this pill. Is it okay to mash it until it's about coffee ground size and put it in peanut peanut butter? I'm wondering if is extended release in with case it I ground it would hit his system all at once and he would get a big overdose.

Ask a Vet!
I always use peanut butter to give my dogs pills because they don't like pills, also I cut it in 2-4pices depending on the size of the pill and give it to them. I star in the morning and then the rest I give it to them during the rest of the day..
Great product for me

My vet gave me comfortis spinosad for a 60 lbs. 810 mg. Dog and told me to split into 4 pieces for my 12 lb Shih-Tzu. A week later she's dying. Any advise?

Did your dog survive? I am so sorry for your problems. Obviously, the vet advised you to give your tiny dog too much.

Can fleas become immune to the poison in comfortis? I've noticed after using this product for an extended period of time that it no longer has the same effect.
1 answer
I can't say they will or will not I have heard that things like fleas head lice etc can build an immunity to the poisons used in products
But I'd check with a vet first if your that worried personally
I'd use the product then check after a few days to see if there a still fleas
A scratching pet isn't always fleas it can be many things from irritation to skin conditions
But you can always try another brand
Hope I helped

My dog weights 58 pounds, and the comfortis pill says 60 to 100 pounds, I just wondered ...is that too strong for her? I crush it and don't give it all, seems like if it's for up to 100 pounds that's too much.?????

Personally (i am not a vet) i gave my dog a full dose and the after effects were horrid. Since i was in a very heavy flea infested area and frontline plus was not working the next month i gave my dog a half dose and it was tolerated very well with an excellent flea kill rate. At this time i continue to only give him a 1/2 dose. You can google exactly how many milligrams per pound your dog should have . I still use a 1/2 per pound for my dog because the full dose was intolerable (shaking head, leg paralysis,, etc). I have been reading up on comfortis and the kill rate for fleas does lessen after 16 days to 58%. Odd how they say it lasts 30 days. It does but at day 29 it is only 2%. Google your dogs weight and give him half that dose. Works for me.
Thank you for your answer. I will google exactly how much to give her.

How did that happen? Get a vet check- yesterday!! Overdosing of this medicine can cause serious long term health issues
