Made both my cats very sick and damaged their livers

    published

Gave both my cats this product once,to be sure I bought the lowest dose. My smallest cat vomited started shaking became really withdrawn had diarrhoea. My other cat vomited and howled in pain took both to the vet as they didn’t settle and remained unwell, both had many tests and the verdict was that these pills caused liver damage.my small cat had diarrhoea daily for months. The cats were well before. Now both are on special diets because of the damage. Stay away from this.

    Comfortis nearly killed my dog

This pill sent my dog into actue liver failure. It’s a miracle she survived. Not recommended. This is poisonous stuff.

My little Maltese was well, I would never recommend this product it made my dog really ill, vomiting constantly, I had to take him to the vet and he is still ill today, Do not give this product to your pet, should come with a warning, I purchased the product from the vet as well, thinking I was giving him the best care, I then had to pay the vets bill today, Disgusting, would never ever recommend this product. Look for a more pet friendly product..

Not yet sure if this is a good product-Who the heck makes these Tablets this size

    published

Who the heck makes these Tablets? size of tablet vs size of cats mouth, had to break it in to four bit and feed it to my cat, tablets don't have break lines.

It doesn't appear to have worked in 30 minutes like they said but my old wise cat did disappear 10 minutes after eating it so I wonder if he threw it back up.

The cost for 3 tablets is outrageous and found that only vets sell them in pkts of 6.
After reading other reviews I have to wonder why my new vet recommended this brand?
Will go back to the other brand where it is placed on cats neck next time and given the other reviews will not re use

    Cat was terribly ill

    published

On Friday night I gave my 4.3kg two year old domestic cat Comfortis. He became very distressed and started panting with his tongue out. He made a strange choking sound as he breathed. I immediately took him to a vet hospital and the vet gave him an antihistamine injection and recommended I take him to vet hospital if his health degenerated overnight. He was floppy and panting most of the night but eventually managed to sleep. He slept most of the weekend and didn't eat very much. He is slowly recovering but I won't be repeating that scary experience.

    Scared for my cat

    published

I gave this product to my cat last night for the first time after our local vet recommended it yesterday. The vet did not advise me of any possible side effects. Today the cat is very sleepy, floppy, lethargic.
I AM SCARED>>>>> I wish I was advised of these side effects prior or read site. I'm terrified.

    my dog had a seizure

    published

Was using this product for a long while and it killed fleas great until one day my dog had a seizure, I raced him to the vet and they had asked if he had been given flea tablet which I replied yes Comfortis and he said that would have been the cause. I've stopped using it and try alternate natural treatments.

    Not Happy!

    published

Our maltese/silky cross has been on Comfortis (pink) for approximately three years. Over the last few months, the product has not worked. Took her to the vet as she has a flee allergy and had become very lethargic. As well as having flees, she had pancreatitis. She is home from the vet, but she is not herself and becomes very agitated. Clearly she is still not 100% well, has lost weight and is not the dog she used to be. I know of two other people whose dogs are on this product and have the same problems. Reading this review web site there seems to be a lot of people having problems with Comfortis. As there seems to be many problems, am wondering if the company should do some research on their product.

    Fleas are dropping off

    published

Gave comfort is to my 2 cats this morning, the fleas are dropping and dying real fast. 3 year old cat doesn't seem to phased by it, but my 10 month old was panting like a dog, and seemed very agitated. He has calmed down now though, other than that the product works great.

severe health warning This drug causes liver toxicity for older dogs

    published

My 13 year old male maltese terrier was given Comfortis tab and the fleas disappeared within the day. 2 weeks later he appeared to have a seizure and was quite unsteady on his feet later. He became lethargic and exhausted on mild exertion. he slept alot .I took him to the vet twice in the same day as he became increasingly breathless and aggitated. Tobys liver function tests showed to be 5 times the normal. That night he died. He was a very healthy and active dog and had no health issues before giving him the comfortis. I warn people to be very cautious when treating older small dogs with this obviously toxic chemical.

    Kills fleas!

    published

A product that actually does as described on the box. It killed all the fleas within 24 hours and they only returned a month later. We tried many other products before this one and none worked from collars to powders to spot-ons and pills. None worked. This did.

    does not work

    published

My dog has flea allergies and has a big overreaction to flea bites scratching and cursing himself raw. Our vet recommended comforts since it worked well for others. It did nothing. I didn't see a reduction in fleas or his scratching at all.

    Comfortis Pink (For Dogs 2.3 - 4.5kg, Cats 1.4 - 2.7kg)

I gave my 2 6 pound yorkies comforts (160mg) since they developed a lot of fleas 2 weeks after receiving sentinel. I fed them first. About a half hour later one of the dogs vomited but I do not know which one. I did see the pill present along with his dog food in the vomit. The next day my one dog still has fleas running around his belly.
The vet said it was okay to give another comfortis dose of 160mg but to give some Pepcid first.
I'm just concerned if it was not him that vomited that I will be giving him too much
    Any ideas?

Gosh, Linda, that's a tough call. I would be VERY careful about possible double doses, particularly if he was the one who vomited (which you have no way of knowing). My cat got so sick from Comfortis that she had to be taken to the vet for treatment. My other cat handled it just fine. (They are 8 lbs and 10 lbs.) I would say if you do it, watch him SUPER closely and be ready to take him in to the vet if necessary. Good luck!

Im not a vet but i do have an opinion. If you dont know which dog vomited i wouldnt give them another pill. You can use a topical flea treatment along with comfortis if you need extra help. This is what i would do. I wouldnt chance over dosing your little one. Just an opinion. Good luck
