Failed just out of warranty
Failed after 2.5 years, fault with floating cable $270 to fix. Otherwise it covered the whole pool, scrubbed the waterline and picked up fine sand (100um filter) purchased, leaves and small twigs. Larger twigs and sticks would get stuck in the throat.

Worth every cent
I have had the Zodiac CX20 for just over two years, It does exactly what it is suppose to do, I have large gum trees nearby that drop it's leaves, sticks and nuts into the pool, the CX20 makes short work of it.
I recently had the drive motor stop working, the machine was just out of warranty, however, the Zodiac team were fantastic, they replaced the motor and installed a new cable as a goodwill gesture. The Zodiac team organised a courier and it was picked up the next day and back to me within a week, great effort and very much appreciated.
I cannot fault the Zodiac after sales service, yes I would definitely buy another Zodiac product.

$880 to replace the motor block and install a new cable after 2.5 years
I have had my CX20 for nearly 3 years. It has served me very well however it recently it stopped moving. I contacted Zodiac but as it was out of warranty I was advised to contact a repairer for an assessment. I got a quote back saying it would cost $880 to replace the motor block and install a new cable. The unit cost $1100 to purchase so very disappointed it didn’t last longer than 2.5 years. I did not get it repaired and am now in the market for a new robotic pool cleaner and it won’t be a Zodiac

A terrible Experience! Poorly made product that has barely ever worked with no customer service at all!! Buyer beware!
So frustrating! When it works it's been a godsend, dealing with the gum leaves and gum tree seeds that regularly blow into the pool. However, it's been one issue after another! Rubbish product. I have own this for 2 years now. Definitely not the worth the price tag. Always have issues.
It works well on leaves or bigger debris, not sand or small particles even you have the optional 100 micron cartridge. The worst part of this device especially considering the price is the cabling. Get tangled often and impact how the robot clean.

Great Machine when it is working!
We have had our Zodiac for 3 years. Initial cost was $1099. But it has been the disgusting cost of never ending repairs that makes this machine a lemon! Within 14 months (Yes 8 weeks out of warranty) the cable that connects it to the control goes - $300! Last week the wheels stopped turning - we are not even told by the "authorised Zodiac dealer" what was wrong they just went ahead and put in a new motor - $500.
It has spent more time being repaired than in the pool!
When I saw one on Ebay for $98???
Don't like them or there doggy dealers!

We purchased the Zodiac CX20 online for about $800 in Oct 2016. It worked great for 2 years, then less than 1 month outside of warranty it started failing. Support was difficult and would not replace it, they said it wasn't faulty and would only deal with "Plationum Partners". So we had to deal with their "Platinum Partner" who charged us $75 - it took over 1 month of negotiating to get them to send it to Zodiac. Then wanted to charge us more for sending it to Zodiac via courier!!

Loved our cx20 however the fact that when things go wrong with the unit parts are soo expensive. The motor has gone on ours and will cost over $700 to repair when the unit only cost us $800 new. Also do not like that Zodiac have now only made this unit available online at a premium price where there is limited warranty.

Better than cleaners that cost four times the amount, but fragile.
Before we got our CX20 for $850AUD, we had a dolphin that cost $3,200. It had fifty fancy features on its wireless remote, four ridiculous paper filters that filled with dirt in about 5 minutes which were made of flimsy plastic that broke in the first 2 months and a caddy that took up half the shed to move it since it weighted an absolute ton.

aning our pool. Zodiac fixed our control unit under warranty when it failed due to rainwater incursion, despite this being arguably a failure due to misuse (do not leave the control unit in the rain. It is not as waterproof as it looks). I'm very pleased with the Zodiac after-sales support. We just had it fixed again (in year 3) due to an issue with the cable - again, most likely due to children playing with the cleaner/cable while it's in the pool doing its job. (about a $250 repair at the pool shop) Reviewing what's on offer in the market now, when this CX20 eventually wears out, I would replace it in a heartbeat with another CX20. Even though I have had to fix it a couple of times, I'm still well below the price of most competing pool cleaners; and as I said - this one is as good as the best of them. Having had a fancy cleaner that you could drive around your pool, or choose from 20 different cleaning cycles - I can tell you it's all useless features for the sake of profit. If you want a robotic cleaner that just cleans the pool - with the choice of focusing on the floor of your pool, or doing the whole pool including walls, waterline and steps... well, the CX20 is hard to beat.Purchased in October 2021 for $845.00.

Cable Fault CX20
I recently had a problem with our CX20 and I’m sharing how I fixed it. It would only operate in one direction and when it went to go the other way it would stop and a red indicator light in the control box would flash slowly. This started out as an intermittent problem. I totally dismantled the robot. After testing the cable with a multimeter I found a fault with a short between two of the terminals. Which made sense as the cable has three wires, one an earth in the middle and the other two power/signal for forward and reverse. Replaced cable and up and going again. Hope this helps.

The Great and The not so Great
I have had my CX20 for approx 16 months and had intended to review it earlier as it had been magnificent. We have a large Gum tree which is close to our pool so the cleaner worked overtime with twigs gum nuts and of course leaves and until about 2 weeks ago it had not missed a beat then it just stopped moving. I contacted Daniel at Zodiac who was super efficient in having it picked up and taken for repairs. Got it back a few days ago after a new motor block was installed under warranty and its back to normal. It does many people have had the same issue with this model so i guess i was lucky it was in the warranty period.

Disappointing outcome with CX20
Purchased CX20 late 2016, failed just prior to the warranty expiring, repaired under warranty, didn't specify what the fault was. Has now failed again, Dec 2022, purchased & returned a control unit since that wasn't the issue. Contacted Zodiac who suggested to contact one of their outlets. Unfortunately these outlets don't specify what exactly they do. Still waiting for Zodiac to respond as to who can actually repair the unit. it was worth the risk just replacing this part. Just making the point the CX20 did a fantastic job when it worked, I looked after the unit & have estimated that I got, perhaps, 70hrs service life after it was repaired under warranty. That service life is unacceptable & makes the CX20 a most expensive pool cleaning system based on this criteria. I'm disappointed with the response from Zodiac, there's a total lack of product support from them. I also believe Pool & Spa W/house should bring more pressure on Zodiac to provide better product support. Broke down twice
Had CX20 for 3 years now. After 6 months it broke down and had motor block replaced. I have looked after it well since new. Now the motor block PCB board has broken down. The CX20 blows water but won’t move. When you plug the motors into the blower connections on the PCB the motors work. So it is clearly the PCB that is broken but I was informed by Zodiac that I need to buy an entire motor box $400. The PCB would be only worth $20 and my unit would be fixed. Better options out there
I've had the same problems as some people on here have reported. The cleaner just stops, error flashing on the control unit. Do everything as the manual says to do (troubleshooting) still to no avail.
Rang Zodiac and they told me they do no handle customers and to seek your local pool/service centre. What a waste of time.
You'd think that the company would care about its product and its customer base in regards to fixing problems. They don't.
On top of that, their website fails to locate a local dealer (within the Sydney region). Which they say to go to and locate, terrible.

Worked very well (Not counting throwing track, maybe x 3 total) until now does the well described stopping after 1-2 minutes. Probably the motor block. Been treated reasonably well. Im neutral on whether this constitutes value or not but wanted others to know what to expect. 2 yrs 9 months or so.

Stopped working after 2.5 years
My CX20 has developed a fault in the last couple of days. It works for a couple of minutes and then stops with the error light flashing.
Zodiac have already repaired the unit once due to it going in circles. Not sure what to do as I don't want an expensive repair for a unit that is out of warranty and isn't even 3 years old.

Stopped working after 2 years.
I was very happy with the performance of the cleaner, when it was working. Then after the warranty period expired it started cutting out and only working sometimes, eventually it stopped all together. I would have expected it to last at least 5 years for the price.

I have a new VX65i model four months old. When I started using it, it turned over on its back and stopped moving once every two sequences. That lasted a month or two. Didn’t focus on it much. Annoying but giving it a fair go. Now it turns over twice every sequence rendering any automation capability useless. My concrete pool is almost rectangular and has fairly soft coving around the floor to wall. Anything come to mind or does this type of cleaning not suit all pools?
