Do Not Use This Company Under Any Circumstance
Before I moved into my apartment the person before me bought a Thermann hot water system in 2014. By 2017 the whole system burst and I had to have someone install and replace a whole new system. Over 2022 - 2020 there has been nothing but issues with this new system. I have had advice to replace the system entirely. I called Thermann today (after searching high and low for an actual phone number as this company are trying very hard to ensure no one can easily reach them by phone) are saying there is nothing they can do as they go by the origina...Read more
l warranty in 2014! If the system was replaced with a brand new one, why wouldn't they go by the date of the new system which is 2017??!?!?!? So in 6 years, Thermann have given me two dodgy systems and are refusing to take any ownership or accountability. So now I have to be out of pocket and ask the installing company to come out and they will charge a call out fee and if they find it is the hot water system that is dodgy (which it is as I have told this recently by the last tradesman who was last here), then I have to pay for a whole new system, when it is the manufacturing company that are in the wrong!!!! I have been telling as many people as possible not to use this company under any circumstance as they are not ethical. I will be taking this matter further as well to relevant authority bodies.Purchased in March 2021.

Rubbish Product & Warranty
Warranty replacement of leaking tank 6-8 mths after $1600 purchase. Plumbers charged $304.50 for “difficult warranty install”. Install ONLY occurred because of their faulty product and I was forced to pay the installation which took 1 plumber 4 hrs and he was assisted by my son. Install comprised cutting and installing one 30 cm length of pipe with 2 pieces, lifting tank over toilet with assistance of my son .
Purchased in June 2021.

at I would be received a full refund for (304.50) for the labour costs. That said, Thermann do stand by their product and I now actually have to commend their after sales service of this hot water service. So happy this has been amicably resolved. Good Electric Hot Water System
I bought and Installed this Hot Water System (HWS) from a local Plumber in Brisbane to replace my 23 years old saxon HWS.
This Hot Water System is good and produce enough hot water for my family (3 Person).
However, there is only single copper element inside the HWS unit and therefore, I would think, won't last as long as Saxon HWS.
The HWS come with Temperature Regulator, which Prevent people from burning their skin when using hot water.
The Water Temperature is nice and warm.
Overall, I am satisfied with this HWS.
Purchased in January 2021 at State Solar Services for $1,450.00.

Useless!
Update: Problem was fixed by a Thermann at no cost. Thank you.
It is my understanding it was a plumbing problem rather than an issue with the hws itself.
Bought a Thermann X Hybrid Heat Pump 300 approximately 4 months ago after our old hot water service died.
We'd looked at online reviews for Thermann. They weren't great but we were assured the newest model WAS "great". It's not.
1) our old hot water service was only 200 litres. All three of us could have showers, I could do at least two loads of laundry and we'd have enough hot water. With t...Read more

Awful - failed under 3.5 years
Lasted 3.5 years before failure! Called Thermann to get told no warranty on any electrical components after 1 year. If you're happy to spend $1000 on a new hot water system every three years this system is the one for you!
Purchased in November 2021.

a cold water storage tank otherwise known as a bucket. I have contacted your after sales service team who told me I did not qualify for warranty but have since sent me information about a fair-go warranty exemption which I have applied for. Hopefully I hear something positive back soon we're on day 4 of cold baths and showers for the family. In fairness since contacting Thermann again they allowed me to apply for a conditional "fairgo" warranty. They sent a service tech to the house when I wasn't home and repaired the unit.

sure temperature relief valve, or a cold expansion relief valve depending on your location within Australia. It's the hot water pressure relief valve. The plastic washer was half sitting out of it not allowing it to close properly.
Your comments are of little comfort to me after I've paid a plumber some hefty fees to replace them.
That is terrific news though! That the whole system hasn't failed. Least that would be under warranty

Beware disappointing product with disappointing "service"
I moved into a brand new flat just 20 months ago. On Sunday my power went out, beyond just the flick of a switch in my switch box.
After a night of no power it was fixed Monday. Five minutes later, POP! No power again. The culprit was determined to be this Thermann hot water service, not even two years old.
Thermann outright refused to take any responsibility for their faulty product, even stooping to condescension when I asked whether this was a reasonable life expectancy. "Oh, you must just be unlucky"
One expensive plumber later and it's working again... for now.
Avoid being "unlucky" like me, avoid Thermann!

Will never buy Thermann again
My plumber installed my first Thermann unit four years ago, when the 14 year old system I had died. After just two years, the cylinder burst. My plumber followed it up with Thermann to discover there was a known manufacturing fault with the batch, but they did not bother with a recall. The unit was replaced under warranty but now, two years later, it isn't producing hot water. Unfortunately it's no longer under warranty, as the warranty only applies to the original, faulty-batch unit. It's completely unacceptable that two units in four years ha...Read more

Misinformation
I purchased the hot water system less than a year and a half ago. Over the past three, four months - the hot water was running out. I called the company and they said to provide an invoice even if the installation was over 2 years old. I was also told by energy company that something was clearly not right as my usage had sky-rocked even though I was using less water. Told that it might be due to an element. Called up again, however this time the staff member said this issue is only covered if the unit was installed within a year. Staff member ...Read more

After 2mths failed
Installed a 160l after other one failed to produce much over luke warm. Well over the 6 yrs I've been here so old one was worth it. But this new thermann model installed and after 2 months, it's failed and not getting anything but warmish water. Terrible to say the least.

Failed when just out of warranty
Installed in mid 2015 - 315 litre electric. Worked ok initially. But conveniently failed when just out of warranty. Customer service when a problem arises is poor. I would find another brand.

It does what its supposed to- make water hot
Recently installed a 160L Thermann electric hot water cylinder. Considering some of the Dux reviews ( and I believe Thermann is manufactured by Dux for Reece) I was a little hesitant. A 7 year cylinder warranty is pretty good -I assume Dux dont actually manufacture elements or thermostats and 1 year is common for these items.
Cylinder appeared to be well constructed and came with all the usual components and documentation. Cant say its better or worse than other brands at this time.
Only time will tell how well it lasts but if I get 7+ years out of the actual cylinder I will be happy. I will update this review in the future.

Poor warranty for the money
We had a 315 Thermann electric storage HWS installed in Dec '14. We were informed by the installing plumber (not his fault, he was misinformed by the supplier) that it had a 7 year warranty. A browse through the handbook (which is given AFTER installation) a day or two later, revealed that the parts and labour warranty is 12 months with a 7 year cylinder warranty.
Fairly woeful considering that it is now malfunctioning at 18 months old and out of warranty. An expensive $1700 lesson!!!
Look very carefully at warranty when buying your HWS.

Terry Howlettasked
what is the daily discharge rate for a thermann 160 litre system
2 answers
Thermann Hot WaterThermann
Hi Terry,
Thank you for your inquiry.
The discharge rate from a PTR valve is approximately 3% to 7% of the tanks capacity per heating cycle.
Also, if the PTR valves leaks when unit is not heating. Please contact your Plumber to check the valve and incoming water pressure.

Hi there
today I bought 180 litre Thermann hwc, i'm wondering what thickness and what material is used to insulate it. Also, could you please show me 'a cross section' of its internal construction?

Hi John,
I would suggest you Ask directly to the manufacturer.
Or ask any plumber in your Area.
Sorry, I can’t help you.

Contact Thermann direct. Turns out their after sales service is very good. I had a problem but it was rectified completely.
Cheers
Thermann Hot WaterThermann
Hi John.
We don't actually make a 180L unit. You may be reffereing to our 160L electric models?
The Thermann 160L units have a 50mm thick insulation and uses an enamal internal coating on the tank. Unfortunatly we can't not provide an internal image as this is intellectual property reserved by the manufactuer.
Hope this helps.

Hi James
If your hot water unit is a thermann and only a year old, I recommend you ring Reece plumbing warranty line for a solution, however are you sure the plumber has installed the unit correctly, maybe call the plumber back to confirm that it is definitely the hot water unit

Is that 1300 number?
Honestly probably was the plumber hasnt connected as weve had them out twice already to the plumbing. Although its always just trickled out.
