4. Is a 2nd coat suggested?
5. Should I sand back first coat?

Cheers Mike

Can I mix super enamel high gloss with a medium, acrylic, ieredecent medium or any other artist paint products?
Hello Sam.O,
Thank you for your question.
You cannot mix this product, which is oil-based, with a water/acrylic based product. We would not recommend mixing of different products in general.
For further assistance please contact our Help & Advice team on 132525 Option 2.

Hi, I’m painting brand new pre primed internal doors with super enamel in high gloss. I have lightly sanded in between coast with 360 grit.
I’m having trouble with the finish, it is drying with tiny small dots, almost like crytals.
I have stirred my tin very well, and have tried different applications from a 4mm nap roller, 4mm foam roller, 5mm mohair and I’ve even spray and brushed.m with the same result?
I’m at my wits end with this product? Any advice
Did younger any replies on your query?
I just painted my caravan after applying metal shield Primer. I used the Wagner 150 Airless pro. Now I believe these two do not go together even after thinning it I had issues applying the paint onto the caravan (Aluminium) there are drips everywhere and after 4 days it's still not dry enough to sand back and roll it on. I'm returning the Wagner tomorrow to the big green shed. Buying more Sanding paper and if it isn't any good trying a new paint. Very disappointing as it will be along time to undue this problem.
Hi Jacob,
This is a great question! Please note that both of these paints can take up to 7 days to fully dry and may allow longer during winter/cooler months. We have a few primers in the Dulux Metalshield range, not all are compatible with these products though, so please contact our friendly technical team so we can guide you through and get your caravan back on track! Please call us on 13 25 25 (option 2) so we can assist.
We look forward to hearing from you soon!

I’ve noticed Dulux recommends applying a top coat of paint no more than a week after applying undercoat. What happens if I wait longer?
Hello Bayden,
Thanks for your question! The recoat time for Dulux SuperEnamel is indefinite, so if the recoat time takes more than a week, that's no problem!
If you need any further assistance, you can reach out to our technical team on 13 25 25 (option 2) who will be happy to help!

If this paint was not sanded between coats what is the result?
If this is not sanded between coats - ?what happens
thanks Sandra
Hi Sandra!
That's a great question! We only recommend a light sand to assist with adhesion and levelling, so you may get an uneven finish or adhesion issues. Feel free to give us a call on 13 25 25 (option 2) so we can give you the best advice for your project!

What is the best primer to use on MDF wood (interior) before applying coats of Super enamel semi gloss? Will it be required to sand the MDF before applying the primer?
Hi Renee,
Thanks for reaching out. Our friendly technical team can help you with that, since it can depend on the condition of the MDF and where it is going to be used. Please call us on 13 25 25 (option 2) and our team can recommend the best primer for your project.

So long as is clean and dust free just sand the edges with 180 or 240 grit paper and any sharp corners if required. Any oil or water based primer will do. Waterbased primers are more likley to make the grain pop up as a result of moisture being absorbed by the wood fibres. Edges may need multiple coats as they wil absorb more primer. If you want a really slick finish consider 2 coats of primer before using the expensive top coat. The trick is to sand it all down with something like 240 grit paper after you have primed to get it nice and smooth. Any bumps or areas rough to the touch will show up through the semi gloss top coat so make sure its as perfect and smooth as you would like it before applying the finishing coats.
Hi TradeWest,
Thanks for the advice, we always recommend a good sand of MDF before painting, but we do not recommend using water-based primers under oil-based enamel paints, as this can speed the yellowing process and cause issues with sealing the MDF. Please contact our technical team on 13 25 25 (option 2) so we can give the correct advice on the best products before starting your painting project.
We look forward to hearing from you soon!

I have just finished using black semi gloss super enamel on exterior door trims. This was the paint recommended by Bunnings in Ballina because I didn’t want full gloss. The staff member was told that it will be under cover if a verandah but will be in full hot sun in winter. Have I bought the wrong paint. I’ll be very disappointed if I have, it looks great
Hi Linda
DULUX Super Enamel Semi Gloss is an oil based, hard-wearing, long-life finish suitable for all interior surfaces. Unfortunately, the Bunnings Paint Team has offered you the incorrect product. We would suggest that you take the remaining product back to your place of purchase and discuss with the Paint Team a replacement product for your project. Regards, The Dulux Team
Hi, I purchased deluxe super enamel semi gloss for the exterior of my front door which I was recommended on purchase. I have done a coat and have now read that this is not an exterior paint? Is this correct? I am now reading onky the high gloss is? But was sold this with the knowledge for exterior? Also I have been told I can put a water based over the precision stain blocker? Was just informed I had to let it dry for a couple of days first? Is this also correct? Also if I do put weather shield over top of the precision blocker and don’t like it can I then put the super enamel over top? Thanks
If it takes 24 hours for enamel paint to dry do I need to leave the door that I am to paint open the entire time?
Thank you for taking the time to contact us with your query, Nick We would love to help! Please give our Help & Advice Team a call on 13 25 25 (Option 2), and they will be able to answer all of your questions! – The Dulux Team.
Hey guys I just done my front door in super enamel and got some runs .
How long should I wait before giving it a sand.
Cheers jimmy
I have used Zinnser as an undercoat over old cleaned paint( Light Rice) on a door. I have just applied the 2nd coat of your paint (Light Rice) again - using the correct roller but the paint is not drying with a high gloss. Have I done something wrong?. I have allowed more than 16 hours between each coat,
This week I used the same paint on several door frames using both a roller and a paintbrush and the gloss is OK.
I am hesitant to paint any of the other doors if I get the same result - shiny frames and matt door!!!

Hi,
I’m repainting a bedroom & the old oil trims are not cracked or flaking. If I were to lightly sand back the existing paint would I need to prime before applying Dulux Super enamel?
no, you don't need to re-prime. you can use oil based paint over waterbased if the surface is prepared properly to a 400-600 grit, but you can't use waterbased paint over an enamel surface. it should come up good. I recommend haymes trim enamel for outstanding results.
Hi Chris, it never hurts to use a coat of primer but I believe you should be fine without it. All the best with your DIY.
Thank you.
Hi there Chris, thanks for reaching out. If the trim is sound we recommend you clean with Sugar Soap and sand back to a flat finish. If there is no significant colour change then you can apply two coats of Dulux Super Enamel. However, if there is a significant colour change you may need a primer. - The Dulux Team.
Hi, is it only Dulux's white super enamel that browns with age? If I use a low sheen white, will it remain white?
