Dunlop Grandtrek AT20 Questions & Answers
9 questions from our users
Hi looking to head up to the Cape in my Colorado with Dunlop AT 20. These tyres are great on the bitumen but not sure how they will go on dirt road- particularly concerned about stone damage/ sidewall. They don't seem to have a high ply rating. I am not intending to travel on the Old Telegraph Track but I understand that the main road can be badly corrugated. Any thoughts on how these tyres will go?
Recently had qty 2 Dunlop Tyre failures in 2 weeks. Last failure at 100km/h on a good road without warning. I have Y3309 on the side of the tyre, is this the date of manufacture 33rd week in 2009? The tyres were fitted new on a brand new Pajero Exceed 2018 with only 28813km. Have been attempting to talk to Dunlop about this with now success.
Hi Andy I have not checked mine but that sounds about right what you thought those numbers mean. I bought my truck under 12 months ago so assume these tyres are a lot newer. Having said that I have no...
Read moret gone on a very long trip yet and mileage is only 3200. If you get no response from Dunlop ask ACCC for contact. No good having blow outs.Thank you, found another number on the inside of the tyre. They were manufactured in 2017, a bit better but concerning with the failures experienced.
My silverado 1500 has AT20 tires all around the front tires are worn down more then back and show outer edge wear. Is it ok to just rotate the to fronts?
What is the best ONROAD WET weather tyre for Pajero 4wd? Please don't tell me it's Dunlop.
Dunlop does pretty poorly in the wet roads...it has poor braking and traction in the wet. Would advise against it. Am not sure why these tyres are allowed on aussie roads. Clearly better tyres out the...
Read morere like Coopers and Goodrich for wet weather onroad tyres.Hi,
I have bought a 2013 prado with four dunlop at20 s
Two have a manufactured date of march 2013.
However I cannot find the date on the other two ??
I have AT20's on my Volkswagon Amarok and they are very noisey at 85km/hr and above. All the reviews are saying they are quiet. Any tips?
Gidday Grant, I have AT22's on my Ford Ranger, personally they are not a bad tyre except in the wet, then they are appalling.
Have been doing a lot of research on Bridgestone 697's
Took the Amarok to Auto repairer. It appears my vehicle require a new front axle which is where the vibration was coming from. Apologies to Dunlop AT20's. Looking forward to some quieter miles when I get it back.
Just bought new tyres for my Toyota Yaris. What are the hairy bits of rubber all over them
They are normal, and all tyres have them. During the fabrication, when rubber is injected into the mold these hairy bits form in the ventilation holes. The molds have ventilation holes to prevent bubb...
Read morele formation between the rubber and mold. All new tyres have them.Nothing to worry about. this is typical on most new tyres as a result of the manufacturing process. These tiny little bits will go brittle and break off over a few months.
Thanks that's reassuring as I've been told that these look like retreads and not new tyres.
How to check rotation tyre direction for this grandtrek AT20? I found no symbol rotation direction or outside face tyre mounting. Did you just forget to put that?
The AT20 does not have a directional tread pattern, so it can be mounted either way. When I rotate my tyres, the fronts are always crossed from side to side onto the rear. This helps give more even we...
Read morear and extends the life of the tyres. I hope this answer helps.By the time I realised (had it brought to my attention by the service centre) that the insides of the rear tyres were worn, the service centre wouldn't rotate them (too dangerous to be driving with th...
Read moreem apparently, though they were willing to supply and fit a full new set..). I drove around with them for another 10k kilometres and then replaced them. I assume rotation is front left to rear right etc though.whats tyres should I put on a prado, as AT20 are so bad
Last time i bought bridgestone Tyres for bargain price.
I found they are less slippery. Highly recommend it. ...
