My dryer keeps turning off after a few seconds. It’s only a few years old! Has anyone had any luck with what appears to be a common issue? The filter is clean and I’ve tried turning it on and off. Thanks

Hi
My dryer is now tripping the power and cutting out after 5 mins. It appears that every time it stops to check the sensor it is cutting out blowing the power board. Or, it stops and beeps in the on sequence a few times. Any suggestions as to what the issue is please ? Thanks

Basic items first
1.) Power it off at the power point allow a couple of minutes then start up again.
2.) Check the filters to make sure they're clean.
3.) Sometimes, if the heating element fails, it shorts out against the heater housing, causing the dryer to trip the circuit breaker. You will need to log a service call. Obtain quote before repairs and Electrolux provide additional warranty on the part if you choose to go that path.

I have an EDV605 which dry's the contents as intended. The problem is that the tumble direction doesn't reverse. The system pauses as intended but then continues to rotate in the same direction ie anti clockwise. The motor capacitor has been replaced with no improvement so I'm left with possibly a problem control board which are an expensive supply and install. Any confirmation of this diagnosis or suggestions. Last resort is to leave as is because it still performs or buy a new dryer, and I'm a tight wad???

My dryer keeps turning itself off after a few minutes use, obviously the clothes are still wet.

It sounds like this might be a common issue, is there something I can do myself to rectify?

We have recently had a problem with our EVD6051 dryer. The inside tray beneath the front ventilation duct is full of water. What does this mean?

Hi, my drier is about 2.5 years old. It dries fine but it’s gotten quite loud. It’s like the belts or mechanism that rotates the dum is working too hard. Having said that, it’s no more difficult to turn the drum manually then the day I bought it. It’s just louder and whatever is causing this also creates vibration through the unit housing.

While it’s pretty consistantly loud every once in a while the sound drops back to normal. It always starts load and stays loud 90% of it’s running time but now and again the noise level will drop.

Is this a common problem? Is there anyway to correct this? I don’t believe it’s still under warranty.

Is there anything I can check mechanically?

My Dryer keeps switching off and on again up to 3 times in 10 seconds. Sometimes it will switch off and come back on 10 mins later. This issue can happen on any setting even when it is on 3,6 or 9hr delay and hasn't even started drying yet. Any ideas?

Call an electrician. The dryer is either short circuiting, or its pulling too many amps for your home wiring to cope with.

Hi, I have the exact same problem. Have you managed to fix it ?

Gayle
Gayle

No I haven't I didn't want to risk wasting approx $150 on a service fee for someone to look at it & then pay for repairs on top off that or to tell me it's not fixable. I had a friend look at it said it was stuffed. I will never buy Electrolux again. I have never had a dryer only lasting 2 1/2 years !!!

If it's under warranty (2 years) call Electrolux. https://www.electrolux.com.au/ I'd call Electrolux first even if out of warranty.

It should have a 2 year domestic warranty - so if there's nothing put in there that might be making the noise, call Electrolux Home Products on 131 349 or check support options https://www.electrolux.com.au/

Ive had mine checked by an electrician. There is power going into the unit, but it looks like it is the sensor panel that is the problem. Still no answer from Electrolux re this issue.

What is the difference between model 6051 and 7051..
We have mixture of material of clothing every laundry and what is the best model suit us?
Sensor for moist ?or auto sensor for dryness?

1 answer
Evie
Evie

Hi Jaclyn, I don't think the 7051 model is available in Australia. Going by the numbers I think it would have been a 7 kilogram dryer. The 6051 is a 6 kg dryer and the 5051 is a 5kg dryer. I find it best to separate the washing into similar fabrics. I like the sensor program. I use the Normal Dry Sensor Program with the Normal temperature for all my cottons/towels/sheets. And for my synthetics/woollens I use Iron Dry Sensor program with the Delicate temperature. I haven't used the Extra Dry Sensor program. At first I was worried about placing delicates/woollens in the dryer as my old dryer would shrink these materials but on the Iron Dry Sensor setting with the Delicate Temperature I have had no issues drying my woollens and delicate fabrics. Separating your materials will allow for more efficient drying, especially with the Sensor Program. If you don't use the sensor program you have the timer option of 30 60 or 90 minutes.

The EDV6051 dryer is not performing to our expectation, we put in about 6 kg mixed materials and after 90mins normal drying, there bound to have 1 or 2 pieces not totally dried. The heat is not hot enough. Have anyone got such experience and would like to share how to dry the clothes totally?

I always use the "extra dry" setting and I do not use the sensor dry setting. I find that a mix of cottons and synthetic clothing will dry well but if the clothes are all cotton or heavy cotton workclothes then extra drying time may be needed.

I have the older EDV505 model, and I found this problem as well. It would take 2 runs at extra dry, although the second was shorter.

The solution is to put in only similar weight items. Don't mix towels and t-shirts, for example.

I also found that opening the bathroom window helped as well.

Does this dryer auto cut off the electricity after drying done? What do you mean by sensor drying?

1 answer
Tek
Tek

I'm not 100% sure but confident that it means the dryer has a moisture sensor built into it, and cuts off when air exiting the unit is dry, if you choose that mode.
The dryer body is built well but the electronics fail every year. We had ours repaired one month after warranty expiry, than broke down again within 6 months.
