Good, but noisy
I have been using this for regular cooking (spaghetti etc.) as well as frypan and wok work.
It does work quite well, it is however still very noisy, I tried to research low noise varieties when purchasing and this one apparently had the lowest Db values of all options I had.
I have also noticed one of the underside panels it s aslightly different white to the rest of the rangehood.

Flue Adaptor Needed
Can't comment on performance yet, but be aware that for some odd reason F and P supply this range hood with a 120mm diameter flue outlet. A 125mm flue adaptor is required (e.g. RHF5R from JPM International) at a cost of around $25 to be able to fit a standard 125mm flue kit to it for external ventilation.
Needs flue adaptor

Not bad at all
I think this item may be obsolete but (in the name of being fair and balanced) I've gotta say that I have had this working well without fault or incident for 12 years. Nothing broke at all. It's still providing reliable service and it's only the hunt for a replacement filter which had me googling... which led me here. I don't know why this appliance has been fine for me and a problem for the others.
Really works

OK
You have a choice of two level of fan power (stronger, weaker) which I found quite useful when cooking different stuffs. the filters can be dispatched easily for a regularly cleaning which is a plus.
It removes smoke and cooking odors inside the kitchen.
the plastic corner of hte rangehood is easily crack and replacement is required. Replace the cracked plastic corner required the whole rangehood to be dispached from teh wall or cupboard of the kitchen whereever it attached to. This is not a job one can do by himself, need to ask handy man to do this job.

Ok, it's a shame we can't fix the bracket.

Bad Design. Would not buy another one :-(
The Rangehood did its job ok. The fan is a little noisy.
Not even 3 years old and now it is broken.
As with other reviewers the plastic slide on the left hand side has broken. Cannot slide out anymore as the whole unit sags. Very dangerous.
Do not buy one....
Does suck smoke and grease away
Bad design. Plastic mounting bracket breaks in less than 3 years with little use. Agree with other reviewers.

Ok, I have the same problem of bracket breaking on the front right corner. But the hood still works. Did you get it fixed ? Or had to replace the whole unit?
replaced the whole unit..... :-( nothing else will fit so had to buy another one. We now pay for expensive filter to try to trap more of the oil fumes......

Bad......
As stated in the other reviews, the front mounting screw bracket for the slide out section breaks. This unit has not had much use and is a poor design.
If anyone removes the side out section due to the breakage of the plastic clip, be careful as the electrics are behind a small cover that is not screwed/clipped on. Again, dangerous and poor design.
After past experience, it horrifies me to deal with Fisher and Paykel customer service (again) after numerous problems with other products.
It still sucks air and the electrics work!
Plastic mounting bracket breaks. This is potentially dangerous if anyone removes the slide out drawer due to the breakage as the electrics are behind a cover that is only clipped on!

Pls tell me how to change the bulbs in the halogen lights?
1 answer
You need to turn them in an anti clockwise direction from memory. They are hard to get hold of as there is not much sticking out. I put on a pair of rubber gloves and then placed my fingers on the glass face and rotated gently. Try to get the bulbs that have indentation on the face as they are easier to grip rather than the smooth faced one.
Hope this helps.
