This car shouldn't be in the market
Before I bought the car, I did a lot of research & compare to different cars with similar rank. Fiesta seems to be the best amount all. It was wrong!!! I bought the car in June 2010, the airconditioning wasn't working, the car would run smoothly but suddenly slow down, feels like something stuck there & need a big push on the accelar to get going. Took it back, temp from the airconditioner was not up the the standard, had it fix, but you can only call it cool, not cold. The answer from the mechanic was it is a small car, all this can happen, Ho...Read more
nda Jazz is a similar small car, but none of those happen. Fuel consumption was not as cheap as I expected. The biggest shock I've got was the repair cost of $3700 for buckle wheels, not one, but three buckle wheels, if I had bumped onto something that causing the damage, I am sure I would have known & remember, there were no obvious damage from the bottom of the car, this time the answer I've got was the design of the car could be the problem, the tyres from the manufactory are thin tyres, not enough cushioning, so even driving on normal city road & speed hump can result in buckle the wheels, I had to have it fixed, but it may happen again in 2 yrs time. I don't believe it !!!! Am I supposed to leave the car in the garage and not to use it. I will not recommend Fiesta to anyone unless you are willing to put up with all the little issues & risk of high repairing cost. But one thing I must say, the service department from the Ford dealer in Doncaster East are excellent, that would be the only reason that I may consider to buy another Ford. Good Little car
First of all, it has to be Manual, because Ford's new Powershift Automatic gear box just don't work, so you may as well get the ECOnetic model, it's slightly more expensive but with it crazy little fuel consumption, it's worth it.
My wife and I, we've had 7+ cars in the last 10 years (well this is the man thing I guess, man and their toys is just like women with their shoes, no explanations) I have to say this is one of my favorite... There is only a few other cars in its range can compare to this one. It's comfortable, light, safe, stylish, s...Read more
mooth, fun to drive, economical and not bad performance, which is pretty much all you need... However, for this price, you don't expect it can fly at the start, but the way it handles... I have to say... is like a dolphin, smooth and free. And it looks as cute as a dolphin too I reckon. I just love this thing inside out. Cheap in Price, but built with quality, No sunroof, back sits won't fold flat and can't drag race at the lights.

ECOnetic just brilliant!
1.6 turbo intercooled diesel manual the way to go. Designed to help the environment. So economical approximately 900kms on full tank of fuel (38L). Has everything you need with heaps of get up & go. Comfortable & easy to drive, handles the road really well & looks fantastic! We had the windows tinted to help reduce heat in summer.
Economical, comfortable, reliable, zippy, safety options & energy efficiency is a bonus.
Heaters take longer to warm than other cars we've had.

This is a car for drivers! Designed and produced in Germany, how could it go wrong. Don't wait till next year when they start coming out from Korea!
1.6l Zetec 2010. The best handling car in this price range. 5 Star safety rating. Voice control. Bluetooth. Full electrics. European Accesories. Continental Tyres & 16" Rims
Supercharger Kit cost $4,000. The Autos only come in 1.4l (why would you?). The space where the ash tray should be is covered by a fake panel?

I'd be really interested in where u got the super charger kit and if the standard donk can handle the massive torque.

German Quality
Bought the car in Feb 2010, have done 70,000km+ already and its not missed a beat. Economical at around 5.5 - 6.0l/100km in Sydney traffic, chews a bit more on the highway. Great to drive, handles well and you feel safe, even in wet conditions. Bluetooth, MP3 handy to have. ABS pulls you up real quick when you need it. Can even fit the push bike in the back with the rear seats down. The Zetec's fog lights come in handy in Western Sydney winters.
Economical, reliable, decent boot space

I LOVE this car!
After buying my brand new Ford Fiesta from the Ford dealership in Jan 2010, I was very excited - even though I had a 4 week wait.
When I got the call to say my car had arrived off the boat from Germany I was ecstatic. When I got to the dealership to pick my car up. I was even more impressed.
EXCELLENT value for money. This car comes with all the mod cons. Bluetooth hands free, which is SUPER simple to use, voice control (barely use it but still a cool feature), funky design, zippy, fuel efficient and easy to drive.

is what initially drew me to it, and then seeing the inside and the features made me realise just how much I wanted it. To add to that, the price was excellent... I bought it when they were a bit more expensive than they are now, I paid $19,990 and added on a tint and reversing sensors.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Great car, lots of compliments on how it looks. Lots of power for such a small car and love the phone & USB features. I would definitely get this car again and highly recommend it to a small car buyer.
Excellent car all round. Small yet roomy, handles well, good power and excellent features. Being able to answer the phone hands free even when the phone is in the boot is a huge bonus.
Not much to dislike. Voice activated control sometimes has trouble picking up on what you say to it. An interior light in the rear passenger area would be a bonus.

Manual is the way to go with this car. I fell in love with the car at first look. This is the best car I have ever bought. After 2 years, the car is running strong and there's no problem with it. I drove the car to Sydney and back from Adelaide. It has extremely good road manner. For long trip, the seat is comfortable. The car is stable at high speed. 5th gear is strong. It can climb South Eastern Freeway hill in Adelaide at 110km/h in 5th gear at ease. To be fair, the Fiesta Zetec outclass all of its rivals including its sister car Mazda 2 at ...Read more
every aspects. Congratulation if you have one in your garage. You've made a perfect buying decision. The design is a little feminine but otherwise very stylish and sexy. Strong and responsive 1.6L engine. Smooth manual transmission and fun to drive. The Zetec model ticks all the boxes for safety. It has all the gadgets in a small car package including bluetooth, USB, cruise, fog light, etc. No center arm rest (I know it's a small car but it would be nicer if there is one). Seat height adjustment lever is too close to the seat surface. Everytime I get into the car, my leg would depress the lever. After a while, I have adjust it again.Similar opinion? This car is drop dead gorgeous, what other car under $30,000 has a lovely chrome decoration piece on the door frame along with halogen headlights. I fell over myself to order take delivery of this car. It is simply the best small car I have ever ever drive. The car is very sporty to drive and corners very flatly. It has a very sporty engine note and is very quiet at freeway speeds. The paint job (Vision Blue) is very nice with great gloss and shine. terior looks very funky, very much like a mobile phone. The real icing on the cake is at night when it lights up with a strip of LEDs above the glovebox and two little LEDs above the mirror. These light up the inside of the car like on my Dad's Audi A8. The first time I saw them I was blown away. So was everyone of my friends. I have had the car for two months and it has been totally reliable. The fuel consumption has average 6.1 litres/100km with me being a a bit of a leadfoot this is very good. I recommend this car over any other small car out there. Don't buy a Mini or a Fiat 500 or a BMW 1 series until you have driven this car. You will thank me for it. Zetec model is very very sexy, lovely interior lighting at night time, great quality of materials, bluetooth, voice control, 5 star safety, Halogen headlights, lovely flip key, great dealer service, Nothing at allSimilar opinion? Comparing the Fiesta to the Mazda 2, the Suzuki Swift, Holden Barina, Hyundai Getz, etc, the Fiesta comes with more features (we have Zetec model) and soooo much better looks, very happy with this car, much better than the previous model.
Everything, Looks, economy, comfort, ride, features
Zetec model is lower therefore the front spoiler scrapes on some driveways, didn't come out with a XR5 model and can't get the RS model in Australia

Slow for corners.. Why?
I bought a WS Zetec as a run out in April 2011 and have put just under 10,000km on it now. What a fabulous little car. The handling is great with almost no torque steer and great cornering. Build quality is great and for a small car with a small price it has loads in it.
The engine is eager and the manual gearbox is light and easy.
As the WS Zetec has adjustable projector headlamps I have upgraded the bulbs to HID globes. It was quite easy and the slimline ballasts are easily hidden.
USB input is great too and the 6 speaker sound system is g...Read more

Having just down graded from a luxury 4wd I was a bit sceptical of the Fiesta. Wow, was I wrong. What a pleasure to drive. Great perforamnce and handling and the most comfortable seats I have sat in. I have the Zetec which has all the good bits. This has to be the best car under $30K. Rarely have I been this impressed by a car and for under $23K on the road I cannot believe how good it is. Ford is on a winner.
Looks, handling, performance from the 1.6 motor, comfortable seats, bluetooth and voice control

Hi. I am looking at a 2009 Fiesta Zetec that has come up for sale. What problems should I be looking out for?
Thanks.
2 answers
They are a good car. If it's an auto make sure it is not the dual clutch type. Look at service history, kilometres, city or country travel, how it has been looked after, general appearance, tyres, rust and any evidence of accident damage. They ride well, are quite in town and on the highway, economical, light steering effort and have a reasonable sound system if you are not under 25. There can be unwanted surprises with any secondhand car, buying from a dealer may be a better bet than a private sale. Depends on price and if you have mechanical knowledge or a good honest mechanic. The blinker switch may be on the left and windscreen wipers on the right, the 2011 WT model is.
I have the 2009 WS Zetec auto. Make sure the services are up to date, the timing belt change is expensive. Check the front rotors and pads. They're not a big job, but make sure you're supplied the correct rotors as I was sold WT rotors which have a smaller PCD (wheel stud spacing) and had to stuff around and pay more for TRW which are OEM and have no coating and so rust. Depending on driving style and place (country vs city) they could need changing at 140-160k kms. I've found the auto box is a rather abrupt changer, and the power is hardly exciting. Nor is the fuel economy because they have to work so hard. The blinkers are indeed on the left, which was no drama for me as my SUV also has them on the left. If the blinkers stop working, check the mirror wire. I changed the blinker stalk assembly and that wasn't the problem. I find it a bit rattly with cheap-sounding doors and the stereo makes the exterior chrome trims vibrate, which is really annoying. The stereo pumps out pretty reasonable sound, but I've had issues with reading USB sticks. I occasionally get an error "line busy" which if it persists, requires a battery reset. Otherwise it's comfortable and surprising roomy for such a tiddler (I am quite tall). The ride and handling is superb for such a little car. It really does feel like a bigger car once you're under way, and it swallows up bends with aplomb. As long as they're not uphill bends, that is. The Zetec is by far the best choice, more airbags, better stereo, cruise control an upgraded interior and suspension. Be aware that the 16" Zetec wheels are often knocked about with gutter rash, and they are really expensive to replace, even second-hand, as in around $300 depending on condition and whether fitted with a decent tyre.

I have a 2009 WS Fiesta Zetec with the 1.4l/auto gearbox combination. Purchased second-hand from interstate and the car was well past needing a service. I put it in to the local mechanic to have the timing belt changed, plus new plugs, water pump, oil and filter and I fitted a new air cleaner myself. I drove the car some distance before the service, now after the service the car feels down on power (there's not a lot anyway, I know) and the fuel economy has plummeted, from 6-7 to 8-9. The day after I got it back the car went into limp-home mode (error code P061C) but a long drive yesterday didn't see that happen again. The car struggles at 100km/hr and hunts between 3rd and top gears. A curious and annoying aspect of the timing belt change was the cam seals, which come with the belt kit. The main cam sprocket (or sprockets, since it's DOHC) has to be removed to change the seals- but they are held on by bolts which have to be replaced, as they are "single use only" or torque to yield. They don't come in the kit and this caused a delay of 4-5 days (with a weekend in the middle), so the car was at the workshop for 8 days. I'm concerned that something else happened at the workshop, or the camshaft timing is out. Any ideas?
3 answers
The cam timing could be out. Normally the cams are held in position whilst the belt is being changed. Have you looked up the P061C code? It seems it's related to an engine monitoring system for engine RPM which could point to the cam timing being out. I don't know why the cams seals were replaced unless they were leaking or if your vehicle has high kilometres. If the WS air cleaner is the same as the WT it is a good idea to clean our the rubbish at the bottom. Leaves, paper, plastic etc can gather there. A light sheet of paper or plastic could be sucked up under the element and partially block it, a long shot, I know.
Thanks, Stevo. The first thing that came to mind was the cam timing. I drove the car for several hundred kms before the belt change so have some comparison before and after. The error code points to the cam sensor or the crank angle sensor. It's booked back into the workshop. I did a 100km+ drive after the cam belt change and it was woeful: even worse, when I checked under the bonnet, the ancillary belt was beginning to fall apart. It seems that as a stretch belt it didn't like being reused. The cam seals were changed because they came with the kit. I've asked the kit retailer to look into why they put cam seals in even if they might not be needed, but if they are changed, the sprocket has to come off and so new bolts are required. Catch 22.
It was the cam timing. The belt kit came with three different bolts to "lock" the crankshaft and they used the wrong one.

ijust got 5 w 40 penrite engine oil from repco they recomented for ford fiesta 1.4 ltr is that ok
2 answers
The person at Repco probably checked the recommended oil for the Fiesta so would have gone with that information. Penrite seems to be an oil that is recommended by spare parts shops. 5w 40 would be OK in Australia, especially with summer approaching & if it was a full synthetic oil they gave you. I once bought a Valvoline oil recommended by the label on the container for our Fiesta & when filling the engine noted it was an SL API rated oil. I have since used the SN rating fully synthetic oil in Fuchs, Nulon and Valvoline. It's also an idea to look at the ACEA rating A3/B4. Buy your oil when on special & save 25% to 50% at Autobarn, Repco or Supercheap!
I specified 5W-20 when the workshop did my service. They sell and use Penrite brand. The manual recommends Castrol, and next time around I may use Edge 0W-30. I wouldn't use 5W-40 if I had other choices.

bought mine and from what I have learned, the ones that came out of Germany were not without fault. whether that's ford or production line fault no one's ever going to tell. as for their autos, your not the only one mate. there was never anything wrong with conventional autos. look at the strife vw got themselves into with their half baked dsg's. the only reason they recalled them was because 10000 voices were louder than one. up til then they treated customer complaints with contempt. and all this from a company that got car of the year. maybe the thai fiestas aren't too bad. mazda 2 comes out of there. no complaints about them. I've got some gripes about this one but it's only 9 months old. consumer laws should be set in concrete that if u have to return a vehicle 3 times to have the same MAJOR PROBLEM rectified, u get another car or your money back. I know which one I'd pick. buy a manual mate. I'll leave u with a much valued proverb from my dearly departed father.[A BAD PRODUCT SELLS ONCE]. if that doesn't work, ask smithy. he knows everything. ask him, he'll tell u.
