A Really Great Entry Level Mountain Bike
I purchased this mountain bike following the theft of my two previous bikes (Break-in). I made this purchase on the advice of a local cycle retailer and my criteria were; good brand, affordable price, helpful service and the requirement for a good general purpose machine as opposed to something suitable for serious off-road use.
I have been riding this bicycle for 6 months now and find it excellent for it's intended use. It is easy to ride, handles well and looks good. The cable operated disc brakes are more than satisfactory and the Shimano 3/8 gear change is easy to use.
To date I have had no problems whatsoever with this purchase, I really enjoy riding it be it general commuting or easy grade off-road use.

giant talon 3 review
so far i have had around 15 hours of the talon and i have seen its good side and bad. the price is good for what you get eg. disc brake set up RST shocks and a light allux frame. i have ridden the bike mostly around my local trails and i have also done a couple of races and the bike work perfectly. but after around 5 hrs of riding it start to not perform as good. the brakes weren't stopping so well and were rubbing, the gears weren't changing cleanly and the suspension was very stiff. i took it to my LBS and they simply said it was due for a ch...Read more
eck up. i got softer springs in it (because im only 50kg) and the brakes now work fine. there not as good as hydro's but there still a lot better than v or rim brakes. the suspension is good with the hydro lock out but a handle bar lock out would be nice. the bike is nice, light and affordable. there are't many things i would change. it's a great bike for beginner and up to intermediate because of the the things it has on it. shocks, light, look, gears and the stock equipment sometimes not reliable, needs a lot of check ups, non tubeless wheels, cable brakes not hydro1 comment

I bought a talon 3 2011 model and mine has hydraulic disc brakes but I agree that it's reliability varies
